Abstract

Based on the observation results, it was found that students' understanding of the concept of fungi was still low. This study examines how the Discovery Learning Model affects the understanding of 10th grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Tuban. The quantitative approach was conducted using a pre-experimental method and one group pre-test post-test design. This study involved 34 students from class X-B who were selected through purposive sampling. N-Gain score computations, normality tests, and hypothesis testing with paired sample t-tests were all part of the data analysis. The research findings show an increase in the mean value of 40.62. The paired sample t-test shows a significance value of 0.000 at a significance level of 5%, indicating a significant effect before and after the application of the learning model. The N-Gain test results reinforce these findings with a mean value of 74.57% in the fairly effective category. Thus, the Discovery learning model has been proven effective as an alternative learning model for improving students' ability to understand biological concepts, especially those related to fungi. Abstrak. Pemahaman konsep siswa tentang biologi, terutama yang berkaitan dengan jamur masih kurang. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana Model Pembelajaran berbasis Penemuan ( Discovery Learning ) mempengaruhi pemahaman siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 5 Tuban. Pendekatan kuantitatif dilakukan menggunakan metode pra-eksperimen dan desain one group pre-test and post-tes . Penelitian ini melibatkan 34 siswa dari kelas XB yang dipilih melalui purposif sampling . Perhitungan skor N-Gain, uji normalitas, dan uji hipotesis dengan uji t sampel berpasangan merupakan bagian dari analisis data.Temuan penelitian menunjukkan adanya kenaikan nilai mean sebesar 40,62. Uji peered sample t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 pada taraf signifikansi 5%, yang mengindikasikan adanya efek signifikan sebelum dan setelah penerapan model pembelajaran. Hasil uji N-Gain memperkuat temuan tersebut dengan nilai mean 74,57% dalam kategori cukup efektif. Jadi, model pembelajaran Discovery telah terbukti efektif sebagai model pembelajaran alternatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami konsep biologi, terutama terkait jamur.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an essential skill for students to face the challenges of 21st-century education. However, according to the 2022 PISA results, the scientific literacy level of Indonesian students remains relatively low. This condition is influenced by various factors, including the application of less varied learning methods, the dominance of teacher-centered learning, and limited media and teaching materials that support active learning. One effort that can be made to improve scientific literacy skills is through the implementation of guided inquiry-based learning supported by digital learning media, such as E-LKPD. The purpose of this study is to describe the profile and validity of the Guided Inquiry-based E-LKPD on membrane transport material to train students' scientific literacy skills. The type of research used is development research using the 4D model, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. This research resulted in two E-LKPDs containing learning activities and features arranged according to the syntax of Guided Inquiry. Data collection was conducted through validation techniques using the E-LKPD validation sheet assessed by three validators, namely a material expert lecturer, a media expert lecturer, and a high school biology teacher. The validation results showed that the developed E-LKPD was included in the very valid category with an overall average score of 97.26%, with details of the presentation aspect at 100%, the content aspect at 94.53%, and the language aspect at 97.25%. Abstrak. Literasi sains merupakan salah satu keterampilan penting yang harus dimiliki peserta didik untuk menghadapi tantangan pendidikan abad ke-21. Akan tetapi, berdasarkan hasil PISA tahun 2022, tingkat literasi sains peserta didik Indonesia masih tergolong rendah. Kondisi tersebut dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, antara lain penerapan metode pembelajaran yang kurang bervariasi, dominasi pembelajaran berpusat pada guru, serta keterbatasan media dan bahan ajar yang mendukung pembelajaran aktif. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan literasi sains adalah melalui penerapan pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terbimbing (guided inquiry) yang didukung oleh media pembelajaran digital, seperti E-LKPD. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeksripsikan profil dan validitas E-LKPD berbasis Guided Inquiry pada materi transpor membran untuk melatihkan keterampilan literasi sains peserta didik. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model 4D yang meliputi tahap define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Penelitian ini menghasilkan dua E-LKPD yang memuat kegiatan pembelajaran dan fitur-fitur yang disusun sesuai dengan sintaks Guided Inquiry. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik validasi menggunakan lembar validasi E-LKPD yang dinilai oleh tiga validator, yaitu dosen ahli materi, dosen ahli media, dan guru biologi SMA. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa E-LKPD yang dikembangkan termasuk dalam kategori sangat valid dengan skor rata-rata keseluruhan sebesar 97,26%, dengan rincian aspek penyajian sebesar 100%, aspek isi sebesar 94,53%, dan aspek bahasa sebesar 97,25%.

Abstract

21ˢᵗ century learning requires students to possess critical thinking skills and scientific literacy to address global challenges. However, the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) reports that Indonesian students’ scientific literacy remains low, partly due to the dominance of conventional instructional approaches and limited teaching materials that foster scientific processes and critical thinking. Guided inquiry–based learning supported by digital media, such as e-modules, offers a potential solution to this issue. This study aimed to develop and describe a guided inquiry–based e-module on environmental change to facilitate students’ scientific literacy skills. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D model, consisting of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The e-module comprises four learning activities designed in accordance with guided inquiry syntax and scientific literacy indicators. Validation was conducted by a subject matter expert, a media expert, and a senior high school biology teacher, focusing on presentation, content feasibility, and language aspects. The results indicate that the developed e-module achieved an average validity score of 97.25%, categorized as very valid, indicating that it is suitable for use as a learning medium to support students’ scientific literacy skills. Abstrak. Pembelajaran abad ke-21 menuntut peserta didik memiliki keterampilan berpikir kritis dan literasi sains sebagai bekal dalam menghadapi berbagai permasalahan global. Namun, hasil Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) menunjukkan bahwa tingkat literasi sains peserta didik di Indonesia masih tergolong rendah. Kondisi ini dipengaruhi oleh pembelajaran sains yang masih didominasi metode konvensional serta keterbatasan bahan ajar yang mampu melatihkan proses ilmiah dan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan literasi sains adalah melalui penerapan pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terbimbing (guided inquiry) yang didukung oleh media pembelajaran digital, seperti e-modul. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan dan mendeskripsikan profil e-modul berbasis guided inquiry pada materi perubahan lingkungan sebagai sarana untuk melatihkan keterampilan literasi sains siswa, serta untuk menganalisis tingkat validitas e-modul yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model 4D yang meliputi tahap define, design, develop, dan disseminate. E-modul yang dikembangkan memuat empat kegiatan pembelajaran dengan fitur-fitur yang disusun sesuai sintaks guided inquiry dan indikator literasi sains. Validasi dilakukan oleh tiga validator, yaitu dosen ahli materi, dosen ahli media, dan guru biologi SMA, menggunakan lembar validasi yang menilai aspek penyajian, kelayakan isi, dan kebahasaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa e-modul berbasis guided inquiry memperoleh skor rata-rata validitas sebesar 97,25% dengan kategori sangat valid. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa e-modul yang dikembangkan dinyatakan valid dan layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran untuk melatihkan keterampilan literasi sains siswa.
