Abstract

Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah serves as an epistemological framework that presents an understanding of Islamic law that is not solely text-oriented but also considers moral objectives, public welfare, and the surrounding social context. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively explain the concept of masālik al-‘ilm bi maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah by ‘Abd al-Majīd Al-Najjār, as this concept not only connects texts with reality but also integrates fundamental values of the Sharī‘ah. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, based on the assumption that maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah cannot be determined through intuition, subjective tendencies, or rationality detached from the Qur’an and Sunnah, but must be formulated through valid and measurable scholarly pathways. Previous studies have focused only on substantive aspects such as the objectives of the Sharī‘ah and its classifications, but none have systematically examined the methodological mechanisms of how maqāṣid are known, verified, and scientifically validated. The findings indicate that masālik al-‘ilm bi maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah can be known through several main pathways: the pathway of commands and prohibitions, the pathway of scriptural explanations, the pathway of the Prophet Muhammad's practices, and the inductive pathway (istiqrā’). These four pathways complement each other in revealing the objectives of the Sharī‘ah, whether general, specific, or partial. Thus, this study positions maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah not merely as normative objectives of Islamic law but as an epistemological construct that must undergo measurable scientific procedures.Maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah serves as an epistemological framework that presents a legal understanding not solely oriented toward texts, but also considers moral objectives, public welfare, and the surrounding social context. This study discusses one concept within maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, namely masālik al-‘ilm bi maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, as a methodological framework for determining and understanding the objectives of Islamic sharia objectively and based on revelation. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, starting from the assumption that maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah cannot be determined based on intuition, subjective tendencies, or rationality detached from the Qur’an and Sunnah, but must be formulated through valid and measurable scholarly paths. By referring to the thoughts of ‘Abd al-Majīd an-Najjār, this study aims to explain the urgency of masālik as an epistemological instrument to maintain the validity of maqāṣid and prevent its misuse in ijtihad practices, especially in addressing continuously evolving contemporary issues. The study results indicate that masālik al-‘ilm bi maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah encompasses several main paths, namely: the path of commands and prohibitions, the path of nash explanation, the path of the Prophet Muhammad's practices, and the inductive path (istiqrā’). These four paths complement each other in revealing the objectives of sharia, whether general, specific, or partial. Through the application of these masālik, maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah can be understood systematically, consistently, and in harmony with the overall structure of sharia.

Abstract

Al-Qur’an merupakan sumber utama ajaran Islam yang memiliki peran sentral dalam membentuk dan menggerakkan dinamika peradaban Islam. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji Al-Qur’an sebagai fondasi peradaban Islam melalui pendekatan historis dan normatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis studi kepustakaan, yang menganalisis teks Al-Qur’an serta literatur ilmiah kontemporer yang relevan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Al-Qur’an tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai teks teologis, tetapi juga sebagai sumber nilai etika, sosial, dan intelektual yang berkontribusi terhadap pembentukan struktur sosial, tradisi keilmuan, dan kebudayaan Islam. Secara historis, nilai-nilai Qur’ani mendorong transformasi masyarakat menuju tatanan yang berlandaskan keadilan dan tanggung jawab sosial. Secara normatif, Al-Qur’an menyediakan prinsip-prinsip universal yang tetap relevan dalam menghadapi tantangan peradaban modern. Dengan demikian, Al-Qur’an dapat dipahami sebagai sumber inspirasi berkelanjutan bagi pembangunan peradaban Islam yang berkeadaban, adaptif, dan kontekstual

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Nabi Adam a.s. dalam konstruksi awal peradaban manusia melalui kajian tafsir Al-Qur’an, khususnya berkaitan dengan konsep khalifah dan dimensi profetisme. Penelitian ini penting untuk memperjelas landasan teologis dan etis peradaban manusia dalam perspektif Islam, serta memberikan kontribusi konseptual bagi pengembangan gagasan peradaban profetik yang relevan dengan tantangan kemanusiaan kontemporer. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis studi kepustakaan (library research) dan pendekatan tafsir tematik (tafsir mawdlu‘i), yang dilengkapi dengan analisis komparatif terhadap pandangan mufasir klasik dan kontemporer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Nabi Adam a.s. tidak hanya diposisikan sebagai manusia pertama, tetapi juga sebagai khalifah dan nabi yang meletakkan fondasi ontologis, moral, dan spiritual bagi peradaban manusia. Konsep kekhalifahan meniscayakan tanggung jawab pengelolaan bumi berbasis ilmu pengetahuan, keadilan, dan ketaatan kepada wahyu, sementara dimensi profetisme menegaskan bahwa kemajuan peradaban sangat bergantung pada internalisasi nilai-nilai tauhid, penyucian jiwa, dan etika sosial. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa peradaban manusia dalam perspektif Al-Qur’an sejak awal bersifat profetik dan teosentris, sehingga pembangunan peradaban yang berkelanjutan mensyaratkan integrasi antara kemajuan material dan nilai-nilai spiritual yang diwariskan sejak masa Nabi Adam a.s.

Abstract

The role of fathers in fostering moral character within the family holds a strategic position in Islam; however, studies that examine this issue in depth through the perspective of classical Qur’anic exegesis remain relatively limited. Therefore, this study discusses the role of fathers in moral education within the family based on the interpretive perspective of Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah. This study aims to examine Ibn Qayyim’s views on the responsibility of fathers as qawwam (leaders) in the family and to analyze paternal parenting styles in shaping family morality based on Qur’anic verses. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research and a descriptive-analytical method by examining Ibn Qayyim’s works and relevant Qur’anic verses. The findings indicate that Ibn Qayyim views the father as a qawwam who bears responsibility for family leadership, particularly in the aspect of moral education. The educational methods emphasized include instruction, habituation, and exemplary conduct. Interpretations of Q.S. an-Nisā’ (4):34, Q.S. at-Taḥrīm (66):6, Q.S. ar-Rūm (30):21, and Q.S. Luqmān (31):12–19 reveal that paternal leadership is characterized by firmness, responsibility in providing sustenance, mutual admonition, and an orientation toward establishing a family grounded in sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah. Furthermore, moral development encompasses the inculcation of monotheism, filial piety (birr al-wālidayn), self-awareness, the establishment of prayer, enjoining good and forbidding evil, patience, humility (tawāḍu‘), and proper etiquette in speech. In conclusion, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah’s concept of leadership and family education remains relevant as a foundational framework for shaping the noble character of Muslim family members.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah mendisrupsi lanskap otoritas keagamaan, menggeser legitimasi dari penguasaan keilmuan yang bersanad (knowledge-based authority) menjadi sekadar popularitas dan tingkat interaksi di media sosial (attention-based authority). Kondisi ini menciptakan fragmentasi otoritas yang memicu krisis epistemologis, di mana peserta didik kini lebih mengandalkan ragam konten digital yang sering kali nirvalidasi dibandingkan peran pendidik di ruang kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara komprehensif fenomena fragmentasi otoritas keagamaan di ruang digital beserta implikasinya terhadap pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan (library research), data dikumpulkan dari berbagai literatur otoritatif dan ditelaah melalui metode analisis isi (content analysis). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa disrupsi ini berdampak serius pada ekosistem PAI, meliputi melemahnya sentralitas guru, pergeseran pola belajar siswa dari sistematis menjadi sporadis yang disetir oleh algoritma, serta munculnya kebingungan epistemologis akibat relativisme kebenaran. Tanpa adanya filter validasi yang memadai, peserta didik sangat rentan menelan informasi mentah yang berujung pada distorsi pemahaman agama. Sebagai kesimpulan, fragmentasi otoritas di era digital menuntut transformasi mendasar dalam cara pendidikan agama disampaikan dan diterima. Implikasinya, kurikulum PAI harus segera direorientasi untuk mengintegrasikan kecakapan literasi digital dan penguatan nalar kritis, di mana pendidik mengambil peran baru sebagai kurator pengetahuan guna membentengi identitas keagamaan generasi muda.
