Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas proses dekolonisasi Brunei Darussalam sebagai salah satu kasus unik dalam sejarah Asia Tenggara. Berbeda dengan negara-negara tetangga yang menempuh jalur perjuangan nasionalis dan konflik bersenjata, Brunei memperoleh kemerdekaan melalui diplomasi elit, perjanjian internasional, serta pemanfaatan kekuatan ekonomi minyak dan gas. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-historis dengan menelaah dokumen perjanjian, konstitusi, literatur akademik, dan laporan internasional. Analisis dilakukan dengan kerangka teori kedaulatan dan studi dekolonisasi yang menekankan peran aktor lokal (monarki), aktor eksternal (Britania Raya), serta struktur material (sumber daya ekonomi). Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun berada di bawah perlindungan Inggris sejak 1888, Brunei berhasil mempertahankan eksistensi monarki, menegosiasikan otonomi melalui Konstitusi 1959, serta menolak integrasi dengan Malaysia pada 1962. Puncak proses dekolonisasi ditandai dengan Perjanjian Persahabatan 1979, yang membuka jalan menuju proklamasi kemerdekaan 1 Januari 1984. Pasca-kemerdekaan, Brunei meneguhkan ideologi Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB), menjaga stabilitas politik, serta memanfaatkan kekayaan minyak untuk membangun negara kesejahteraan, meski masih menghadapi tantangan diversifikasi ekonomi dan kritik internasional terkait reformasi hukum Islam. Dengan demikian, pengalaman Brunei memperlihatkan bahwa dekolonisasi di Asia Tenggara tidak seragam, melainkan dipengaruhi oleh kombinasi faktor internal dan eksternal yang unik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji tradisi sedekah receh yang dilakukan oleh peziarah makam KH. Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) di Tebuireng, Jombang, sebagai perwujudan ajaran Islam yang berpadu dengan tradisi lokal. Fenomena ini tidak sekadar dipandang sebagai amal sosial, melainkan juga simbol penghormatan dan sarana memperkuat spiritualitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami sejauh mana kesadaran peziarah terhadap hadis-hadis Nabi tentang sedekah, termasuk hadis riwayat Bukhari dan Muslim yang menyebutkan bahwa “Allah menerima sedekah meskipun hanya sebesar sebutir kurma dari harta yang baik, lalu Allah mengambilnya dengan tangan kanan-Nya”. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis. Data diperoleh melalui observasi langsung di area makam, wawancara mendalam dengan peziarah dan pengelola makam, serta kajian literatur terkait hadis-hadis sedekah. Analisis data difokuskan pada pengungkapan makna dan motivasi di balik praktik sedekah receh tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik sedekah receh di makam Gus Dur berakar pada keyakinan akan keberkahan sedekah yang ikhlas, sesuai dengan hadis Nabi bahwa amal yang sedikit tetapi dari sumber yang baik akan diterima dan dilipatgandakan pahalanya oleh Allah. Para peziarah memaknai pemberian uang receh sebagai sarana memperoleh berkah, menolak bala, dan meraih pahala sedekah jariyah. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana sedekah uang receh dapat berfungsi sebagai media untuk memperkuat tali persaudaraan antar sesame manusia, serta menyoroti pentingnya konsep living hadits dalam mengaplikasikan ajaran Islam dalam konteks modern. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong lebih banyak penelitian tentang praktik amal dalam berbagai konteks yang ada.

Abstract

Penyimpanan obat merupakan salah satu aspek krusial dalam pelayanan kefarmasian karena berpengaruh langsung terhadap mutu, keamanan, dan efektivitas sediaan farmasi. Berdasarkan Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia Nomor 73 Tahun 2016 tentang Standar Pelayanan Kefarmasian di Apotek, penyimpanan obat harus dilakukan sesuai ketentuan untuk mencegah kerusakan fisik dan kimia, kehilangan, serta penurunan kualitas obat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan kesesuaian sistem penyimpanan obat di apotek berdasarkan Standar Pelayanan Kefarmasian di wilayah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain observasional deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Data diperoleh melalui pengumpulan dan analisis terhadap penerapan sistem penyimpanan obat pada apotek yang menjadi objek penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar apotek telah menerapkan sistem penyimpanan obat sesuai dengan standar yang ditetapkan, yaitu sebesar 87,9%, sedangkan 12,1% apotek belum memenuhi standar penyimpanan obat. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa secara umum penerapan standar penyimpanan obat di apotek wilayah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta tergolong baik, namun masih diperlukan upaya pembinaan dan pengawasan berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan kepatuhan apotek terhadap standar pelayanan kefarmasian secara menyeluruh

Abstract

Menulis merupakan keterampilan penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, namun banyak siswa sekolah menengah atas masih mengalami kesulitan dalam menghasilkan teks recount yang koheren. Siswa kelas XI SMA YP HKBP Pematangsiantar menghadapi berbagai permasalahan, seperti kesulitan dalam mengembangkan ide, menyusun peristiwa secara kronologis, serta membangun struktur teks yang lengkap, meliputi orientasi, rangkaian peristiwa, dan reorientasi. Permasalahan ini dipengaruhi oleh praktik pembelajaran yang lebih menekankan pada hasil akhir tulisan dibandingkan dengan proses menulis itu sendiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Classroom Action Research yang melibatkan 34 siswa kelas XI dan menerapkan teknik scaffolding melalui kegiatan pemodelan, latihan terbimbing, dan pemberian kemandirian secara bertahap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan dalam kemampuan menulis siswa. Nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat dari 58,82 sebelum penerapan scaffolding menjadi 82,06 setelah penerapan scaffolding, yang mengindikasikan peningkatan pencapaian menulis yang substansial. Selain itu, performa siswa menjadi lebih konsisten, dengan semakin banyak siswa mencapai kategori pencapaian Baik dan Sangat Baik. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa teknik scaffolding merupakan strategi pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks recount siswa.

Abstract

Grammar, particularly subject-verb agreement (SVA), played a crucial role in ensuring the structural accuracy of students’ writing. However, many students often found SVA difficult to master, which led to frequent errors in their sentences. In response to this problem, this research analyzed the effect of the Substitution Drill Technique as a teaching strategy to improve students’ mastery of SVA in writing descriptive texts. This study was conducted at SMP Cinta Rakyat 3 Pematangsiantar, focusing on eighth-grade students. The objective of this research was to investigate whether the Substitution Drill Technique had a significant effect on students’ ability to understand and apply SVA correctly in their writing. The design of this research was quasi-experimental with two groups: the experimental class taught using substitution drills and the control class taught with conventional methods. Both groups were given a pre-test and a post-test. The results showed that the experimental class’s mean score increased significantly from 51.74 in the pre-test to 84.52 in the post-test, while the control class only improved from 51.97 to 72.31. The independent samples t-test result confirmed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating that the Substitution Drill Technique significantly affected students’ mastery of SVA. Therefore, this study concluded that substitution drills were effective in enhancing students’ grammatical accuracy, particularly in applying subject-verb agreement in descriptive text writing

Abstract

This study examines the use of speech acts in the animated film Encanto (2021), with a particular focus on the main character, Mirabel Madrigal, and how her language reflects the construction of her identity. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research analyzes 43 utterances spoken by Mirabel based on J.L. Austin’s Speech Act Theory, which categorizes speech acts into locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts. The findings reveal that illocutionary acts are the most dominant type, indicating that Mirabel frequently speaks with clear intentions such as expressing determination, questioning, persuading, and conveying emotions. This dominance highlights Mirabel’s role as an active communicator who uses language to negotiate her position within a family defined by magical power. Although locutionary and perlocutionary acts appear less frequently, they still play important roles in supporting narrative development and emotional impact. Overall, the study shows that language functions as Mirabel’s primary strength in expressing self-worth, challenging family expectations, and asserting her identity. Through her speech acts, Mirabel demonstrates that identity can be constructed not through magical abilities, but through words, intentions, and meaningful interaction.

Abstract

Reading comprehension plays an important role in English language learning because it enables students to construct meaning, acquire knowledge, and develop language proficiency. However, many vocational school students still experience serious difficulties in understanding descriptive texts, which are an important part of the English language curriculum. Previous studies have highlighted that students often experience difficulties due to limited vocabulary, insufficient knowledge of grammar, lack of background understanding, and low motivation. However, few studies have examined this issue in the context of vocational education. Therefore, this study aims to investigate students' difficulties in understanding descriptive texts at SMK Swasta 1 Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method involving observation, interviews, and document analysis to identify the types and causes of students' difficulties. The results of the study show that the main problems experienced by students are a lack of vocabulary mastery, difficulty recognizing the general structure of descriptive texts, misunderstanding of main ideas and specific information, and confusion about grammar, especially in the use of simple tenses and adjectives. In addition, low reading motivation and over-reliance on translation tools also have a negative impact on students' comprehension. This study concludes that these difficulties arise from linguistic, cognitive, and affective factors. The results of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for teachers to design more effective reading strategies and improve students' understanding of descriptive texts in English as a foreign language.

Abstract

This study analyzes the experiential metafunction in Christina Perri’s song A Thousand Years using Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics, with emphasis on the transitivity system. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed by segmenting the lyrics into clauses and identifying process types, participants, and circumstances. The analysis reveals six process types, with mental processes dominating (39%), followed by relational (28%) and material processes (22%), while verbal, behavioral, and existential processes appear minimally. The findings indicate that the song constructs meaning primarily through emotional expression, psychological states, and identity rather than physical action. Linguistically, the transitivity patterns represent themes of eternal love, fear, hope, and emotional endurance. This study demonstrates that song lyrics serve as meaningful linguistic data for exploring experiential meaning and may be effectively applied in language learning contexts, particularly in the teaching of functional grammar and discourse analysis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of realia media on student learning outcomes in science subjects for fourth-grade students at the UPTD SD Negeri 125543 Pematangsiantar. This study used a quantitative research method with a “Pre-Experimental Design” in the form of a One Group Pre-test/Posttest. This study was conducted at the UPTD SD Negeri 125543 Pematangsiantar on fourth-grade students with a population of 25 students and a sample of 25 students. The data collection technique used two tests: a pretest and a posttest. Data were processed using quota sampling. Hypothesis testing showed a significant effect in this study. The data analysis showed an average pretest (53.20) and posttest (86.20). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that Realia media has an effect on learning outcomes in science subjects for grade IV students at the UPTD SD Negeri 125543 Pematangsiantar. This is also evidenced by the results of the data analysis test obtained with a significance level of 0.00 < probability 0.05 and a calculated t-value of 11.264 > t-table 1.711. Therefore, it is concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning “The Effect of Realia Media on Learning Outcomes for Grade IV Students in Science Subjects at UPTD SD NEGERI 125543 Pematangsiantar

Abstract

Narrative writing is an essential skill in junior high school English learning because it helps students develop creativity, language structure, and logical thinking. However, many students still face difficulties in generating ideas, organizing story structure, and using correct grammar when writing narrative texts. This study aimed to improve the narrative writing skills of Grade 8 students at UPTD SMP Negeri 12 Pematangsiantar through guided learning strategies. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method and was conducted in a real classroom setting. The participants were approximately 25–30 students from one Grade 8 class. Data were collected through narrative writing tasks, classroom observations, students’ worksheets, and field notes. The analysis focused on describing changes in students’ writing in terms of content, narrative structure, past tense usage, vocabulary, and clarity of ideas. The findings revealed that students’ narrative writing improved after receiving step-by-step guidance, including brainstorming, story planning, drafting, and teacher feedback. Students became more confident, active, and able to produce stories with clearer orientation, complication, and resolution. The classroom atmosphere also became more interactive and supportive. In conclusion, guided narrative teaching effectively enhanced students’ writing performance and engagement in learning. This study suggests that teachers should apply structured narrative instruction to help students write more creatively and accurately
