Abstract

Challenges to Industry 4.0 are faced by the field of community empowerment, which is implemented by community education programs. To face this challenge, the position of technology in community empowerment programs is a strategic approach to achieving community needs. One of the CLCs in Pagerwangi Village, Lembang District, experienced problems in collecting data on community learning needs, so a technological breakthrough was needed to facilitate facilitators in collecting data along with mapping the needs of community empowerment programs so that they could be achieved. Through the Digital Needs Assessment, facilitators will find it easier to explore, record, process, analyze, and report data. The purpose of this research is to develop a prototype of the Digital Needs Assessment software that is effectively developed for community use in determining the priority of community education and learning needs. This research method uses a quantitative approach in the form of descriptive statistics with a total of 42 respondents who are CLC facilitators, carried out for 5 months, from February 2023 to June 2023. Based on the research results, the Digital Needs Assessment software can improve the competence of CLC facilitators, especially in processing data or information on the results of identifying community learning needs

Abstract

In Indonesia, where cultural sensitivities and varying levels of awareness about sexual health exist, the need for tailored, culturally appropriate education is paramount. The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) plays a pivotal role in community health initiatives, including sexual reproductive health education, by leveraging its wide network of volunteers. These volunteers are often on the frontline, engaging directly with the community, including adolescents, who are at a critical stage of developing attitudes and behaviors regarding their health. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a sexual reproductive health training program for Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) volunteers in Langkat and Jombang districts, employing a mixed-methods approach based on the Kirkpatrick four-level evaluation model. The study utilizes an evaluative methodology with the Kirkpatrick model, involving data collection techniques through surveys, tests, interviews, and observations. It applies purposive sampling to 65 training participants, focusing on individuals who meet specific and relevant criteria. Data analysis is tailored to each level of Kirkpatrick's evaluation: Reaction, Learning, Behavior, and Results. Findings indicate a high level of participant satisfaction with the training material and its delivery, as well as an increase in knowledge and skills regarding adolescent sexual reproductive health. Despite significant improvements, the study identifies areas requiring enhancement. Evaluation success criteria were set using a Likert scale, allowing for objective and standardized measurement. The training program successfully enhanced the awareness and skills of PMI volunteers in addressing adolescent sexual reproductive health issues. This study provides essential insights for future improvements and development of training programs, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive approach that involves technical, interpersonal, cultural aspects, and self-reflection in adolescent reproductive health education.

Abstract

This research examines education dynamics in the border region between Indonesia and Malaysia, specifically in Bengkyang Regency. The study focuses on the challenges of maintaining cultural identity and nationalism amidst the strong influence of foreign cultures. The educational units comprise one kindergarten, 18 elementary schools, six junior high schools, one senior high school, and three vocational schools. In Jagoi Babang, there is one private kindergarten, two private elementary schools, one private junior high school, and two private vocational schools. Only a few schools include vision and mission statements aimed at building and maintaining nationalism. This study explores educational practices and the role of Ethno pedagogy in strengthening nationalism among students. Using a qualitative research method with an ethnopedagogical approach, the research team analyzed education dynamics at the border through ethnopedagogical studies. The results indicate that special attention is still needed for local genius and local wisdom through the articulation of cultural values, as educational practices in various domains emphasize local wisdom as a source of innovation and skills that can be empowered for community welfare. The local wisdom relates to how knowledge is generated, stored, applied, and managed. In supporting the success of core learning in schools, information obtained from students reveals that obstacles such as facilities and infrastructure and gaps in learning during class hours are still frequently experienced by students. The research findings show that schools in Jagoi Babang suffer from a lack of facilities and infrastructure, hindering access to education. Additionally, the integration of local values into the curriculum needs to be higher, contributing to the degradation of local culture. The study finds that despite efforts to build nationalism, the lack of innovation in teaching methods remains a barrier. There is a need for government attention to improve the quality of education and infrastructure. The novelty of this research lies in its emphasis on the role of Ethno pedagogy in education in border areas, providing valuable insights for policymakers and educators in designing more effective programs to support education and strengthen national identity.
