Abstract

Local governments rely on small and medium industries (SMIs) as the economic foundation in generating income s to achieve equitable and sustainable economic growth. As an Indonesian competent and cultured smart city, Denpasar City is preparing itself to become a smart city to respond to current global challenges. In this respect, SMIs play a crucial role in supporting Denpasar City's efforts to become a smart city and realize its vision of a culture-based, creative, and harmonious city. They improve public welfare and create job opportunities and enhance public income. This study seeks to: 1) analyze the impact of capital on e-commerce implementation in Denpasar City's SMIs, 2) analyze the impact of production units on e-commerce implementation in Denpasar City's SMIs, 3) examine the impact of business age on e-commerce implementation in Denpasar City's SMIs, and 4) examine the impact of income on e-commerce implementation in Denpasar City's SMIs. Our population is the entire SMIs in Denpasar City (4,074 units) (Bali Province's Industry and Trade Provincial Office, 2018). Slovin's formula (margin of error of 7 percent) generates a sample of 194 SMI units. Each SMI is represented by its owner as the respondents. We use stratified random sampling based on geographical areas (subdistricts) and accidental sampling to select sample units to be interviewed. The results demonstrate that 1) capital does not positively affect e-commerce implementation in Denpasar City's SMIs, 2) production units do not significantly affect e-commerce implementation in Denpasar City's SMIs, 3) business age positively affects e-commerce implementation in Denpasar City's SMIs, and 4) income positively affects e-commerce implementation in Denpasar City's SMIs.

Abstract

A creative Economy is a concept in the new economic era, which relies on information and creativity, ideas, and a stock of knowledge from human resources and is the main production factor in economic activity. Anticipating the challenges of globalized creative economy competition, a number of strategies need to be prepared, including strengthening digital infrastructure and digital talent of human resources. Ambon, the capital of Maluku Province, has only 1,304 entrepreneurs using the internet, and 34,833 out of 36,137 entrepreneurs do not use it. This phenomenon illustrates that most entrepreneurs running their businesses are still conventional or do not use digital platforms. Using qualitative research methods, and SWOT analysis, the results of this study illustrate that the strategies that can be expected from the Regional Government are: (1) strengthening digital infrastructure, (2) improving the quality of human resources in order to adapt through literacy movements, (3) strengthening the innovation ecosystem with collaboration between the Government, entrepreneurs, universities, (4) guaranteeing ease of doing business, and (5) assistance and supervision to the entrepreneurs.

The research that will be carried out is an empowerment intervention for the community. This community consists of women who produce weaving with Lombok motifs. Weaving produced by this community has been introduced and sold throughout Indonesia and even abroad. Competition with products produced using technology such as print or online sales competition is still not optimal. This research looks at the current condition of the welfare of the craftsmen and what interventions have been carried out in this community and how the quality of the products that have been produced. This research will also be deepened by looking at what other potentials this community has and whether this potential can be utilized optimally. This research will be conducted using a qualitative method where this research will involve community administrators and 50 craftsmen as data representatives from the community with criteria that include age, status, and experience as weavers by collecting data which is carried out through surveys and observations. Data collection techniques used are Questionnaire, in-depth interviews, direct observation. The tools used in this research are face to face and data analysis techniques with narrative analysis. The results of the analysis found that this community lacked proper empowerment intervention programs according to the needs of the weavers so that product quality was still not optimal and marketing assistance was needed to maximize it. The ability of the craftsmen in this community has great potential if managed properly so that it will have a real impact on the income of the weavers and will improve the welfare of the weavers. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that a prior approach is needed in carrying out community interventions to dig deeper into what interventions are needed for the community, besides that it is also necessary to analyze the possibilities of the skills and potential of the community that can be developed to promote members in the community as possible in the form of collaboration, innovation, and the addition of skills that support this potential. In an empowering role, people with social entrepreneurship who are truly able to analyze the needs of weavers and pay attention to the impact on their welfare are needed.

Abstract

This research aimed to explore the pivotal role of education in alleviating poverty in Afghanistan. Employing a quantitative research approach, the study utilized random sampling with a sample size of 302 individuals, employing Morgan's method. The data was collected through the employment of the Likert spectrum questionnaire, which demonstrated a commendable accuracy rate of 91% as determined by Cronbach's alpha test.to ensure rigorous analysis and precise inference, various statistical techniques were employed, including stepwise regression analysis, factor analysis, internal consistency, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin, and Bartlett's test. The research findings revealed several significant and positive impacts of education on poverty reduction. These include the creation of job opportunities through knowledge, rapid technological adaptations, increased employment rates, enhanced access to financial resources, augmented household income, and improved access to production factors through knowledge acquisition. Moreover, the research findings firmly reject the null hypothesis and instead lend support to the alternative hypothesis, underscoring the substantial influence of education on poverty reduction. Consequently, it is highly recommended to prioritize education as a key strategy in combating poverty in Afghanistan. By doing so, the nation can empower individuals, foster economic growth, and create a brighter future for its citizens.
