Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of financial reporting quality on investment efficiency and the role of Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI) as moderating. This study employed Panel Data Regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The research population is all sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), with the exception of financial sector companies. Based on the purposive sampling method, 292 companies were selected as the samples (876 firm-year observations). The result of this study provides empirical evidence that the existence of financial reporting quality can increase investment efficiency (decrease overinvestment and underinvestment) using three proxies of financial reporting quality are discretionary accruals (Kothari et al 2005, discretionary accruals (Kasznik, 1999); and discretionary revenue (McNichols and Stubben, 2008). Besides that, Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI) plays a role in the positive relationship between financial reporting quality and investment efficiency using the same proxies as Hypothesis 1

Abstract

Bali is one of the tourism destinations that has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. The crisis facing the tourism sector has had a major impact on workers, including hotel workers. Many hotels lost money and closed so they were forced to lay off their workers, including five-star hotels in the Seminyak area. Problems arise when tourism conditions in Bali begin to recover and the tourism industry has difficulty finding experienced workers. For this reason, this study aims to reveal the factors that influence star hotel workers to return to work in the tourism industry in post-pandemic conditions. This study uses a mixed approach (mix methods) which combines quantitative and qualitative approaches. The sampling technique used is technique purposive sampling and data collected through questionnaires, interviews, documentation studies and observation. Interviews were conducted on 7 informants and questionnaires distributed to 135 respondents. Quantitative data analysis techniques were carried out using confirmatory factor analysis techniques (Confirmatory Factor Analysis /CFA) which is processed in a statistical program software. The results of the study found that most of the respondents returned to work in the tourism industry and there were 6 factors that influenced workers' interest in returning to the tourism industry, namely non-physical environmental factors, as the most dominant factor, followed by the nature of work, workers' rights factors, social status factors, skill and character factors, and lastly, the religious value factor

Abstract

Indonesia is the third country with flooding potential after India and China, especially in its low-land areas. Flood disasters certainly risk the surrounding community. Therefore these risks need to be understood, managed and communicated beforehand so that people can lead a better life. Thus, risk communication is needed. With the implementations of risk communication so far in society, this research applies the literature review method. This method includes several steps, including identifying, assessing, and providing interpretation of the literature. As a result, many people still prefer to develop risk communication independently and deal with disasters based on personal experience due to the low level of public trust in the government. Future research then requires an approach to formulate effective flood risk communication steps and techniques for use by disaster-prone communities.

Abstract

This study aims to provide empirical evidence regarding enterprise risk management disclosure’s effect on investment efficiency and also the moderation role of CEO power on enterprise risk management disclosure’s effect on investment efficiency. This is quantitative research. Investment efficiency is measured as deviations from expected investment using a model that predicts investment as a function of growth opportunities, while enterprise risk management disclosure is measured through the risk management disclosure index carried out by the company, and CEO power is measured by the CEO Power Index. The data source is annual report of a public company, and the sample is a company listing at Index LQ 45. The research results show that enterprise risk management disclosure has a positive effect on investment efficiency, but CEO power cannot moderate enterprise risk management disclosure’s effect on investment efficiency. Based on the result, CEO Power as a predictor variable has a positive effect on investment efficiency. This research contributes to the agency theory that reducing information asymmetry can increase investment efficiency by providing broader ERM disclosures and greater CEO power.
