Abstract

The Qur'an and hadith are the main guides for Muslims, but the temptation of lust sometimes leads humans to riya' behavior, which is doing good only for the praise of humans, not the pleasure of Allah. The book "Hidayatus Salikin" written by Abdul Samad al-Falimbani, is a phenomenal work that is quite calculated among Muslims. The figure with expertise in Sufism and philosophy more or less suggests practical applications in everyday life related to religious issues. Descriptive qualitative research method with content exploration in the book "Hidayatus Salikin". This article will present the concept of riya' from various scholars' perspectives and emphasize the importance of pure intention in worship. By focusing on the Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH contained in the book "Hidayatus Salikin", this article provides an in-depth understanding of the dangers of riya' and the need to maintain sincere intentions, according to the teachings of the Qur'an and Hadith. Sheikh Abdul Samad al-Falimbani encourages Muslims to practice religion with purity of intention, avoiding riya', and following the guidance of the Qur'an and hadith.  Riya' or performing acts of worship for human praise is considered shirk khafi (hidden shirk). This discourse underscores the necessity for Muslims to cultivate purity of intention, thereby fortifying their spiritual endeavors against the insidious influence of riya'.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the interrelationship between Bank Indonesia 7 Days Reverse Repo Rate (BI 7 DRRR) and Profit-Loss Sharing Rate (Nisbah Rate) in Islamic Sharia Banks (Bank Syariah Indonesia). Indonesia had been establishing conventional monetary system ever since and have yet to introduce Islamic approach to its monetary system. Now, in Islamic monetary perspective, interest rate doesn’t exist. Therefore, this research aimed to discover the possibility of Islamic approach in Indonesia’s monetary system, using Nisbah Rate launched by Islamic Sharia Banks as a substitution. The research was conducted using VAR (Vector Autoregression) to study the interrelationship between BI 7 Days Reverse Repo Rate and Nisbah Rate, using data obtained from Islamic Banking Statistics through Indonesia’s Financial Service Authority (OJK) monthly during 2021-2023. The result showed that both BI 7 Days Reverse Repo Rate and Nisbah Rate did cause impact on one another, and thus the possibility of establishing Islamic monetary system is not completely disregarded.  This investigation contributes to the ongoing discourse surrounding the integration of Islamic financial principles into conventional monetary frameworks. By highlighting the reciprocal influence between conventional monetary policies and Islamic financial instruments, this study underscores the potential for a hybrid monetary system that accommodates Islamic principles within the Indonesian financial landscape.

Abstract

Zakat as a scientific and teaching discourse has undergone modernization. However, the pattern of modernization itself is not uniform. This article will describe three patterns of efforts to modernize zakat in Indonesia through the thoughts of three figures, namely Masdar Farid Mas'udi, Safwan Idris and Didin Hafidhuddin. This research is qualitative and literary in nature in the scope of studying figures' thoughts using a historical-sociological approach.  Data was taken from the three main books of the figures, then analyzed using descriptive, synthetic and comparative analysis techniques which focused on categorical analysis. The results of this research show that the three figures offer modernization of zakat related to understanding the concept of zakat, sources of zakat, distribution of zakat, the relationship between tax and zakat, and modernization of zakat institutions. Masdar modernized zakat by reconstructing the concept of zakat, by reconstructing the concepts of qath'i-zhanni and sunnah-hadith. The criticism is mainly related to taxes, which do not have the spirit of zakat. Safwan Idris is trying to reform the management of zakat and understand zakat as sunnatullah, not as sunnatul-insan. Didin Hafidhuddin responded to the modernization of zakat by expanding zakat sources based on a modern economy. Their thoughts are quite relevant in the current development of zakat management in Indonesia, although not all of their thoughts have been accommodated.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the causes of the decline in groundwater resources in the perspective of the concept of Islamic economic law, through selected article sources. This research uses a normative doctrinal approach or normative juridical legal research that examines the internal aspects of law or positive regulations. Data collection techniques are carried out through literature studies in the form of secondary data in the form of published articles in journals as basic research material. The condition of the Groundwater Basin (CAT) in Bandung City is now entering a critical condition, one of the visible indications is the decline in groundwater levels by 60-80 percent each year. According to Islamic economic law, everything related to water resources management is believed to be a trust from Allah SWT that must be managed and utilized properly. Islam allows freedom for humans to utilize water resources that are public (general) on the condition that the management must be fair and balanced, not damaging and polluting the environment and natural resources.

Abstract

This paper aims to 1) develop a methodology using computational law and blockchain technology to ensure Sharia compliance in e-waste management systems; 2) propose a conceptual model for a Sharia blockchain platform enabling compliance monitoring and verification; and 3) formulate recommendations to facilitate real-world implementation. The study employs a conceptual approach using inductive analysis of Sharia principles, deductive reasoning, and systems modeling to formulate design requirements and components for a blockchain platform that can enable transparent, tamper-proof monitoring and control of e-waste handling in accordance with Islamic law. Firstly, analysis reveals five key criteria for Sharia compliance in e-waste management and how blockchain, smart contracts, and AI can address these. A comprehensive compliance assurance methodology leveraging these technologies is proposed. Secondly, a conceptual model is delineated for a multipurpose Sharia blockchain platform encompassing consensus, cryptography, smart contract rule engines, and AI analytics. Thirdly, recommendations are synthesized covering technological, regulatory, economic, infrastructure, and social factors needed to enable real-world implementation. This pioneering research bridges Sharia law, sustainability, and emerging technologies to offer culturally attuned e-waste management solutions. The methodology, conceptual models, and practical framework devised inform development of next-generation systems for values-aligned compliance assurance, with potential impact extending beyond the realm of e-waste contexts.

Abstract

One of the Sustinable Development Goals (SDGs) targets in Indonesia is to increase the level of public welfare that can be represented in GRDP per capita. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine whether Islamic banking through Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS), Islamic Business Units (UUS) and Sharia Rural Banks (BPRS) in 33 provinces in Indonesia, has contributed to GRDP per capita during the 2015-2022 period. GRDP per capita as a proxy indicator for the level of public welfare to encourage the achievement of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) target. This study uses panel data regression analysis because the data is time series and cross section. The size of the Islamic banking contribution uses Islamic Bank Office (IBO), Financing and Third-Party Funds (TPF) variables in 33 provinces in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the size of the welfare level of a region uses Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita data. The findings of this study show that the IBO, financing, and TPF variables simultaneously have a significant positive effect on GRDP. However, partially, the IBO variable has a significant negative effect on GRDP, the financing variable has a significant positive effect on GRDP, and the TPF variable has no effect on GRDP.
