Abstract

This study examines the perceived level of organizational citizenship behavior based on Islamic perspective (OCBIP) practices among academic staff in the Indonesian States' Islamic Higher Education Institutions (ISIHEIs). This study also sought to observe differences in the perceived level of OCBIP among academic staff by gender. A quantitative survey method was employed to collect the data from 450 academic staff of six State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (ISIHEIs) across Indonesia using a five-point OCBIP scale. Descriptive statistics, independent-sample t-tests, and bivariate correlations between antecedents of OCBIP were carried out with SPSS software version 25. The analysis of the study exhibits the perceived level of OCBIP practices among academic staff and gender influences on the perceived variables. The hypothesized model of the study added a new theory and knowledge of OCBIP from the Indonesian State Islamic Higher Education Institutions context that can be used to improve organizational effectiveness in ISIHEIs. The study's findings suggest that the value of the OCBIP practices by academic staff can boost the effectiveness of higher education institutions. The study tested, examined, and formulated OCBIP practices for ISIHEIs. The findings also contribute to understanding how OCBIP could be used to develop organizational effectiveness in the context of ISIHEIs.

Abstract

Ali Hasjmy is a writer, cleric, and key figure in advancing education in Aceh. His educational philosophy covers the purpose of education, distinctions between teaching and education, critique of secularism, and the importance of religious instruction. This research, based on a literature review, shows that for Hasjmy, education nurtures faith, knowledge, and virtuous deeds, aiming to produce people devoted to God, knowledgeable, morally upright, and ready to defend the oppressed. Religious education, he argued, is vital, not just for knowledge, but for practical application in daily life. Hasjmy opposed educational secularism, insisting that education should strengthen faith while equipping students with practical skills for societal development, particularly in agriculture, industry, and mining. His ideas remain relevant, symbolized by the decree No. 90 of 1960, which established September 2 as Aceh's Education Day. He envisioned Aceh as a hub of Islamic knowledge and culture and spearheaded the Darussalam Educational Concept to improve education. His efforts laid the foundation for the continued growth of education in Aceh, creating a well-integrated system where the younger generation could advance, benefiting from the groundwork laid by previous generations.

Abstract

This paper examines the perspective of Madzhab al-Shafi'i's Islamic teachings on the challenges of women's empowerment in Kerala, India. It discusses the current socio-economic and legal issues affecting women's empowerment, and the impact of traditional gender roles and cultural norms on this progress. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative methods to review related literature and identify the various legal and cultural barriers women in Kerala face in their quest for equal rights and opportunities. Additionally, it includes semi-structured interviews with prominent Islamic scholars, women professionals, and government officials to analyze how Madzhab al-Shafi'i's teachings could address these challenges. The findings indicate that Madzhab al-Shafi'i's teachings have significant potential to transform Kerala's culture of inequality. Furthermore, these teachings could help bridge the gender gap by promoting mutual respect and understanding. In conclusion, the paper offers valuable insights into the dynamics of gender justice in Kerala and the potential of Madzhab al-Shafi'i's teachings to foster a more equal and just society. It suggests that Madzhab al-Shafi'i's writings should be considered when developing strategies to promote and sustain women's empowerment in such contexts.

Abstract

In the modern corporate world, dividend policy is a widely discussed topic. Early academic literature mainly focused on the linear relationship between dividends and firm value. However, a non-linear (J-shaped) relationship was later discovered in major economies, indicating that firm value may have a more complex connection to dividends. This study reviews existing literature on the non-linear relationship between dividends and company value, suggesting that this relationship might also exist between Shariah-compliant and non-Shariah-compliant firms. The low leverage characteristic of Shariah-compliant firms may contribute to this potential relationship. An extensive search through Google Scholar and Scopus revealed that few empirical studies have examined this non-linear relationship. Notably, no analysis has yet investigated the non-linear relationship between dividends and firm value specifically among Shariah-compliant firms. This article provides a conceptual overview of how and why such a relationship may exist. The review highlights the need for further research, offering insights that could help policymakers and firms make informed decisions to enhance firm performance.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of digital literacy systems and plays a vital role in the development of intelligence. In the educational sector, AI represents a significant innovation that can greatly enhance the quality of learning and educational management. This technology offers numerous benefits, supporting educational stability and improving the teaching and learning processes. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that AI can also lead to adverse effects if misused. Therefore, ensuring the responsible use of AI in education is essential, adhering to applicable ethical standards. Educational institutions, particularly those with Islamic values, must continually innovate in response to technological advancements. At the same time, they should equip their students with strong religious values to mitigate potential harm that may arise from these technological developments. By fostering a balanced approach, educational institutions can leverage AI’s potential while safeguarding their students' moral and ethical foundations.

Abstract

The development of the turnitin system is used to minimize the similarities of words or sentences in writing articles or scientific papers. Turnitin, a widely used plagiarism detection software, provides a solution to identify and prevent plagiarism. However, it is important to adapt it to the context and specific needs of Islamic Religious Education studies at private Islamic universities. The proposed solution includes the integration of Turnitin with Islamic literature databases as well as the adjustment of detection algorithms to recognize religious texts. The existing problems include the impact of the turnitin system, development efforts and challenges, and problems related to plagiarism detection in the study of Islamic religious education. This type of research is called field research, which is to obtain data from direct research on the development of the turnitin system for improving plagiarism detection in Islamic religious education studies. The research is included in qualitative research with data collection techniques using direct observation in university libraries and supporting documents such as books, journals, and other sources. This Turnitin functions to check the level of similarity between sentences, words, paragraphs, and word structures of a written work with a written work made by someone or a student with someone else's previously published own. The development of the Turnitin system on each campus has its own advantages, but it also faces challenges from the side of students and the academic community related to maintaining academic integrity. This is essential for building trust, honesty, and creating a culture of excellence and professionalism while maintaining Turnitin's integrity. The biggest challenge faced is the emergence of the latest features provided by Turnitin, both turnitin draft coach and conventional turnitin.

Abstract

The rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has begun to change many elements of education, including Islamic religious education. Traditionally, Mu'allim, Murabbi, and Mudarris have played important roles in teaching, ethics, and spiritual guidance. However, little is known about the impact of AI on the shifting existence of these terminologies. This research delves into the impact of AI on the responsibilities and perspectives of Mu'allim, Murabbi, and Mudarris, especially through the lens of transhumanism and the diffusion of innovation theory. This study uses qualitative methods to examine data, exploring the variations in AI integration in Islamic education across diverse cultural and regional backgrounds while also recognizing the specific best practices and challenges in each setting. The research seeks to close the gap in understanding between contemporary technology and Islamic educational customs by examining the evolving responsibilities of educators in the age of artificial intelligence. The findings raise significant issues regarding the preservation of human-centered values in religious education while also highlighting the potential of AI to improve educational methods. This study bridges the gap between traditional educational philosophies and technology breakthroughs, contributing to the increasing body of literature on AI in education and providing insightful information for Islamic studies researchers.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic finance in advancing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on often-overlooked conflicts among these goals, such as the tension between poverty alleviation (SDG 1), hunger eradication (SDG 2), and environmental sustainability. It emphasizes the need for balanced progress across SDGs, particularly in Muslim societies where welfare aligns with religious principles. The study advocates for a Green Economic Transition (GET) aimed at achieving high human development while respecting Maqasid Shariah and ecological limits. GET, it suggests, should be the core of climate-conscious policies and business strategies. Recognizing shifts in the global financial system to reconcile economic and social development with environmental goals, the study underscores the need for policies aligning these aspects. It also explores the contribution of Islamic economics and finance-including commercial finance (banking, takaful, Sukuk, Shariah-compliant equity markets) and social finance (Zakah, Waqf, charities, Qard)-in fostering sustainable green finance. Noting the gap where these tools are still tied to conventional finance, the study proposes a framework for developing coherent climate policies within Islamic finance and identifies opportunities for Islamic sustainable green finance.
