Abstract

In image detection processes where there is a variation in brightness between pixels, techniques are required to obtain optimal and adaptable threshold values for these variations. Therefore, a comparison between the binary thresholding technique and the adaptive method of Otsu is made, in videos with dynamic and static background, weighing the response time of the algorithm, memory used, requirement of the central processing unit and hits in the detections, in the languages of Python and M (Matlab). The techniques in Python present better results in terms of response time and memory space; while, when using Matlab, the lowest percentage of machine requirement is presented. Also, the Otsu method improves the percentage of hits in 12.89 % and 11.3 % for videos with dynamic and static background, with respect to the binary thresholding technique.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of blockchain in enhancing server security to mitigate ransomware and malware attacks in critical infrastructures such as healthcare, finance, and government sectors. Using a systematic literature review (SLR) approach, the research collects articles from four major databases (IEEE Xplore, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink) published between 2020 and 2024. The search focuses on keywords related to blockchain, server security, ransomware, malware, and attack mitigation. The results indicate that blockchain enhances data integrity, transaction security, and strengthens access control to protect sensitive data. Moreover, integrating blockchain with intrusion detection systems (IDS) and using smart contracts accelerates threat detection and response, allowing for automatic blocking and data recovery from attacks. This technology reduces reliance on manual intervention and increases operational efficiency. However, the main challenges in its implementation include high implementation costs, scalability, and technical complexity. Nevertheless, blockchain offers significant solutions for mitigating ransomware and malware attacks while enhancing the reliability and efficiency of systems. In conclusion, blockchain provides an effective solution for server security and cyber threat mitigation, although challenges related to cost and scalability need to be addressed. Further research is required to develop more efficient blockchain protocols and integrate them with other technologies to enhance threat detection and response speed.

Abstract

The increasing demand for efficient data management in higher education has highlighted the need for advanced information systems that support research and community service activities. At Universitas Jambi, the Sistem Informasi Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (SIMLPPM) is the primary platform for managing research data. However, its usability remains limited due to restricted accessibility, unstructured data categorization, and inadequate visualization tools. This study aims to enhance SIMLPPM by developing an interactive dashboard to improve data presentation, user trust, and decision-making efficiency. The research employs the Human-Organization-Technology FIT (HOT-FIT) model to evaluate user satisfaction and system effectiveness by surveying 128 faculty members. The findings indicate that leadership support, organizational structure, and facilities significantly influence user satisfaction and system adoption, while information and service quality have minimal impact. The study underscores the importance of system usability and administrative support over purely technical attributes. Future research should explore AI-driven analytics and expand the evaluation across multiple institutions to enhance data accessibility and user engagement in research management.

Abstract

The rapid evolution of digital technology has significantly impacted various sports, including niche ones like petanque. This study explores the perceived benefits and barriers of using an Android-based application for scoring and statistics management in petanque, a sport gaining popularity in Indonesia. Traditionally, performance assessment in petanque relied on manual, paper-based methods, prone to inaccuracies and inefficiencies. An Android app, Petanque Match Statistics, was developed to address these challenges, offering real-time data accuracy, improved workflow, and enhanced performance analysis. This study employed a quantitative approach, surveying 50 participants (35 players and 15 coaches) in Surabaya, Indonesia, to assess their impressions of the app's usability, accuracy, efficiency, and overall satisfaction. Results indicated high ratings across all parameters, with no significant differences between players and coaches. The app was commended for its intuitive design, reliability, and time-saving efficiency. Findings highlight the potential of digital solutions to modernise petanque match administration, enhance strategic decision-making, and improve the user experience. The study underscores the importance of user-centred design in facilitating the adoption of digital advancements in sports, offering valuable insights for future developments in petanque and other emerging sports.

Abstract

Image classification is a key field in digital image processing with broad applications, such as object recognition and disease detection. The use of artificial neural network architectures, such as MobileNetV2, has significantly advanced pattern recognition in large datasets. However, in small datasets, challenges related to accuracy and generalization are often encountered. This study explores an RGB-based approach utilizing MobileNetV2 for image feature extraction and Support Vector Machine (SVM) as the classifier. MobileNetV2 is applied to extract features from RGB images, which are then further processed by SVM to determine image classes. The results indicate that this model achieves an accuracy of 91.67%, precision of 0.9163, recall of 0.9167, and F1-score of 0.9161. Based on the confusion matrix analysis, the model effectively distinguishes between classes, despite slight overlaps. This research contributes to the development of intelligent image classification systems that can be applied in various fields, including the food industry. With these achievements, the RGB approach integrating MobileNetV2 and SVM has proven effective in enhancing image classification accuracy, even with relatively small datasets. These findings open opportunities for applying similar methods in other image processing tasks that require high accuracy in object or disease detection and classification.
