Abstract

This study aims to reorganize the Ikhwan al-Shafa's Thoughts on the structure and nature of the universe. In the 10th century AD, their view of nature stood out because it integrated nature as a spiritual-metaphysical entity as well as a material one. The author argues that this approach is more relevant to today's needs, especially after modern science, through modern cosmology, for the past few centuries has only recognized nature as a material-physical entity and ignored its spiritual metaphysical aspects. This neglect has reduced the meaning of the universe from its complete nature, which ultimately affects how humans view and treat nature. The author considers this reduction to be one of the fundamental causes of the ongoing global environmental crisis. Therefore, the cosmological view of the Ikhwan al-Shafa', which views nature holistically, has now found its relevance again in efforts to overcome these problems.

Abstract

This article aims to explore Al-Ghazali's thoughts on the relationship between humans, nature, and God. Therefore, the destruction of nature caused by disharmony between humans, nature, and God has led to major problems resulting in various disasters such as fires, floods, landslides, earthquakes, tsunamis, droughts, and erosion. Modern man's view on the objectification of nature is the issue examined in this article. It is hoped that from this publication we can find the main formulation of Al-Ghazali's thoughts on eco-sufism as an alternative solution to the environmental crisis. The research data comes from al-Ghazali's writings which include human ethics towards God and human ethics towards nature, as well as the relationship between the two. This article presents a qualitative study with a content analysis methodological approach from several of al-Ghazali's works that discuss nature and the environment. From various excavations of al-Ghazali's works, it can be seen that the cause of disharmony in the relationship between nature, humans and God is caused by consumption factors related to the needs of human life, thus making humans greedy and aiming to fulfill their needs in life. Nature is a manifestation of God's love on earth, but loving God must be through God's love for nature. Therefore, establishing an ethical relationship between humans, nature and God requires Uzra, Mahabba, Wala Etika, asceticism and gratitude.

Abstract

Looking from its surface, the highly superior and exceptional works of Pak Nurcholish Madjid (17 March 1939-29 August 2005) seems to invite his readers to argue and converse with him with absolute freedom without giving bother to any accusations or charges of anarchy. His writings that was full with philosophical arguments was constructed to inspired dialectical discussion and reasoning without ascribing to any established school of thought of the past. With his masterful works, it tries to challenges and draws our consciousness of the real force of intellectualism that was derived from scientific reflection and critical philosophical inquiry. It’s strength was derived from the empirical and historic method and framework in his effort to formulate and comprehend classical Islam and its intellectual tradition in term of its contextual and modern understanding and process.

Abstract

This research is based on a religious phenomenon in society where many religious practices lead to acts of intolerance (intolerance) and extremism (very extreme behavior), Ifrat (exaggeration), and Tafrith (ignoring or underestimating). Therefore, research on religious moderation is urgent and finds relevance amidst the onslaught of religious beliefs that are considered deviant. This research focuses on two objectives, namely exploring the concept of religious moderation in Allamah Kamāl Faqīh Īmānī’s Tafsīr Nūrul Qur’ān and its implications in the context of religious social life in Indonesia. This research is based on a literature review using primary and secondary sources. The method in this research is descriptive-analytical. The finding point of this research lies in the concept of religious moderation in Tafsīr Nūrul Qur’ān and its implications in the context of socio-religious life in Indonesia, that so far there has been no similar research on this theme. The results of this research can be concluded in two points as follows: first, religious moderation in Tafsīr Nūrul Qur’ān is based on the words wasaṭ (middle) and al-‘adl (fair). Wasaṭ and al-‘adl in the interpretation of Tafsīr Nūrul Qur’ān mean tawasut (moderate), tawazun (balanced), and Tasamuh (field-free). Second, the implications of religious moderation in Tafsīr Nūrul Qur’ān on religious social life can be formulated in three points; The first is the idea of ​​freedom of religion and belief, the second is building religious tolerance, and the third is building a perspective of peace and harmony among religious communities.

Abstract

Women's progress is a concept raised by Aisyiyah in fighting for gender equality, eliminating backwardness and injustice for women. One of the topics discussed by Aisyiyah is polygamy, which is considered gender-biased where women are the losers. The purpose of this study is to describe the concept of progressive women in understanding polygamy in the context of today's society. This type of research is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach. The result of the research is that Aisyiyah views that Islam does not introduce the concept of polygamy, rather Islam comes as a rule that corrects the habit of polygamy. In the present context, polygamy can be carried out by considering various aspects, such as social emergencies, not arbitrary, and fulfilling the requirements of justice. In addition, in seeking equality, Aisyiyah offers various concepts such as developing a scientific movement, strengthening the sakinah family, reactualising praxis efforts and empowering women by maximising the role of women in a wider range of sectors.

Abstract

This article analyzes the cosmological thought of Ikhwan al-Shafa, a group of philosophers who made significant contributions to the tradition of Islamic thought. In their work, al-Rasa'il, they present the theory of emanation, which indicates that everything originates from God as the primary source. Ikhwan al-Shafa emphasizes the unity and interconnectedness between the universal soul and the physical body, as well as introducing the concept of universal natural law that governs interactions within the universe. Furthermore, they view humans as a microcosm that reflects the macrocosm, affirming the harmonious relationship between humanity and the universe. This research aims to reveal the relevance of their thought in the context of cosmology and spirituality, as well as its impact on contemporary thought.

Abstract

Perjalanan dan perkembangan suatu negara tidak terlepas dari peran peradaban yang dibangun oleh manusia sebagai makhluk rasional (‘aql) dan sosial. Konsep manusia sebagai al-h}aya>wan an-na>t}iq (binatang bernalar) memungkinkan mereka untuk membangun tatanan sosial yang berujung pada terbentuknya peradaban dan negara. Dalam perspektif Islam, Al-Qur’an memberikan arahan normatif dan praktis mengenai prinsip-prinsip negara ideal, seperti keadilan (‘adl), musyawarah (syura), dan tanggung jawab sosial (maslah}ah). Prinsip-prinsip ini berfungsi sebagai landasan bagi terciptanya negara yang harmonis dan sejahtera. Di sisi lain, filsafat politik Ibnu Rusyd memandang negara bukan hanya sebagai wilayah geografis, tetapi juga sebagai komunitas manusia yang berupaya mencapai kesempurnaan hidup. Melalui pendekatan rasional, Ibnu Rusyd mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Islam dengan pemikiran Aristoteles dan Plato. Konsep negara ideal menurut Ibnu Rusyd mencakup peran pemimpin yang bijak, keadilan sebagai fondasi pemerintahan, serta pentingnya pendidikan dalam membangun masyarakat yang progresif. Artikel ini mengeksplorasi relevansi antara konsep negara ideal dalam Al-Qur’an dan pemikiran Ibnu Rusyd. Melalui analisis persamaan dan perbedaan antara keduanya, artikel ini berupaya mengidentifikasi sintesis yang dapat diterapkan dalam konteks modern. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa panduan moral Al-Qur’an dan pendekatan rasional Ibnu Rusyd saling melengkapi dalam menciptakan negara yang adil, solid, dan bermoral.

Abstract

Tulisan ini mengeksplorasi pemikiran Jalaluddin Rumi mengenai hubungan antara manusia dan Tuhan serta relevansinya dalam konteks modern. Rumi, seorang sufi terkenal dari abad ke-13, melihat hubungan ini sebagai perjalanan cinta yang mendalam. Ia mengemukakan konsep kesatuan ilahi, cinta universal, dan transformasi spiritual yang dicapai melalui introspeksi, refleksi diri, dan tindakan kebaikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kajian sastra dengan mengumpulkan artikel jurnal, buku, dan dokumen lain yang membahas teori dan informasi terkait. Metode yang diterapkan adalah analisis konten dari karya-karya yang relevan. Dalam konteks saat ini, ajaran Rumi memberikan solusi untuk tantangan seperti keterasingan, materialisme, dan konflik sosial. Cinta dalam pemikiran Rumi berfungsi sebagai kekuatan transformatif yang melampaui batasan manusiawi, mendorong keharmonisan, dan memperkuat hubungan spiritual. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan menerapkan ajaran Rumi, individu dapat menemukan kedamaian batin, kebahagiaan sejati, dan makna hidup yang lebih dalam menghadapi tantangan modern.

Abstract

Jasser Auda is a contemporary thinker (philosopher) who introduced the concept of Maqasid al-Shari'ah as a response to his dissatisfaction with traditional Usul al-Fiqh. One of the concerns he felt was that Usul al Fiqh tended to be textual and often overlooked the purpose of the text. This literal and textual reading arose from the excessive attention of Usul al Fiqh scholars to the linguistic aspect. Therefore, to facilitate the research, the researcher used library research to obtain some data and information related to this study. The data was taken from several sources such as books, journals, online media, and others. From this research, Jasser Auda ultimately emphasizes that the Maqashid of Islamic law are the fundamental goals of all ijtihad methodologies, whether based on linguistic or rational Usul. Furthermore, achieving Maqashid, from a system perspective, supports the principles of openness, innovation, realism, and flexibility in Islamic law.

Abstract

Perdebatan mengenai hubungan antara akal dan wahyu merupakan isu sentral dalam teologi Islam yang melahirkan berbagai aliran, salah satunya adalah Muktazilah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan sejarah dan prinsip aliran Muktazilah, serta menganalisis pandangannya terhadap kedudukan akal, fungsi wahyu, dan hubungan antara keduanya. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan teologis-filosofis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Muktazilah menempatkan akal pada posisi yang sangat tinggi sebagai sumber pengetahuan utama untuk mengenal Tuhan dan membedakan baik-buruk sebelum datangnya wahyu. Wahyu dipandang sebagai konfirmasi ilahi yang berfungsi membimbing akal dan menjelaskan perincian hukum syariat yang tidak dapat dijangkau oleh rasio semata. Hubungan antara akal dan wahyu dalam teologi Muktazilah bersifat komplementer dan harmonis; akal adalah dasar epistemologis, sedangkan wahyu adalah petunjuk yang menjaga akal agar tetap dalam koridor kebenaran ilahi.
