Abstract

Robusta coffee (Coffea canephora) is one of Indonesia’s important agricultural commodities with strong economic potential. However, optimizing its productivity depends heavily on proper cultivation practices, particularly pruning, which significantly affects plant health and fruit yield. This study focused on the Women's Farmer Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) in PTPN 1 Regional V Kebun Bangelan, East Java, which faced challenges due to limited skills and knowledge in coffee pruning. A community-based agricultural extension program was implemented to enhance their technical capabilities and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) for effective pruning. The objectives were to identify key issues in pruning practices, deliver targeted training, and evaluate the outcomes. Using a mixed-methods approach—comprising participatory observation, structured interviews, focus group discussions (FGD), and a pre-test/post-test comparison—the study assessed knowledge gains and training impact. A Likert-scale survey further measured participant satisfaction. Findings revealed four main issues: low SOP adherence, lack of training, poor tool maintenance, and plant morphological constraints. Post-intervention, participant knowledge rose from 49% to 97%, a 48% improvement. Additionally, 71.88% of respondents rated the training positively. This indicates that structured, practical training significantly improved pruning skills, contributing to better agricultural practices and productivity in smallholder communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of body angle variations on propulsion force, drag coefficient, and freestyle swimming performance using a biomechanical approach. The background of the study is based on the importance of movement efficiency in swimming which greatly affects athlete performance. The research method used a quantitative experimental design involving university or club level swimmers who have a minimum of three years of training experience. Subjects were selected through purposive sampling with the criteria of being healthy, accustomed to using freestyle techniques, and willing to follow the research procedure. The instruments used included 3D motion capture to record body angles and movement coordination, force sensors to measure propulsion force and drag coefficient, and a time recording system to calculate average speed. The research procedure was carried out by providing variations in body angles of 0°, 15°, and 30°, each with three replications. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics to describe the average, standard deviation, and data distribution, as well as comparative statistics (ANOVA or paired t-test) to compare performance between angle variations. The results showed that a 15° body angle provided optimal performance, characterized by increased average speed and propulsive efficiency compared to 0° and 30° body angles. These findings confirm that body angle regulation is a key factor in reducing water resistance and increasing propulsive effectiveness. The discussion of the results indicates that applying biomechanical analysis to swimming training can provide objective information for developing training techniques and strategies. Therefore, this study concludes that a 15° body angle is the most ideal position for improving freestyle swimming performance. Further research is recommended to expand the number of subjects, explore variations in other swimming styles, and integrate physiological data to obtain a more comprehensive picture.

Abstract

Election integrity is a key element in ensuring democratic legitimacy, yet election fraud remains a significant threat to this process. This research aims to evaluate the use of Bayesian statistics in detecting anomalies in vote distributions that may indicate potential election fraud. In the context of elections, whose reliability is often questioned, statistical analysis becomes crucial to ensure transparency and credibility in election results. This study uses national election data collected from various polling stations (TPS), focusing on vote distribution per candidate in each TPS. A Bayesian probabilistic model is applied to analyze the observed vote distribution compared to the expected distribution. By using Bayesian inference, researchers can update the probability distribution based on the obtained data, allowing for more accurate anomaly identification. The analysis results show significant deviations in several TPS, where the observed vote distribution exhibits patterns inconsistent with the expected distribution. These anomalies are suspicious as they may indicate manipulation or errors in the vote counting process. The implications of this research suggest that the Bayesian method can be used to improve election transparency and provide a more reliable tool for detecting fraud. The future application of this technique can help increase public trust in election results and support the integrity of the democratic process. This study also recommends further development of the analytical model to expand the scope of anomaly detection and enhance fraud detection accuracy in larger and more complex elections.

Abstract

Digital lifestyle has become an integral part of university students' daily lives, involving the use of social media, digital devices, and digital content consumption. The development of digital technology has positive impacts, facilitating easy access to information and social interactions. However, excessive use can lead to digital stress, which negatively affects students' mental health. This study aims to identify the key factors influencing students' digital lifestyles and analyze their relationship with stress levels. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, using a questionnaire to measure digital lifestyle, including social media usage frequency and digital device interaction duration, along with the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) to measure students' stress levels. The factor analysis results show that social media usage and prolonged interaction with digital devices are significant factors contributing to students' stress. Furthermore, sleep disturbances and social anxiety were identified as other significant factors associated with increased stress. The multivariate regression analysis confirmed that students who spent more time on social media reported higher stress levels, associated with social anxiety and sleep disturbances caused by digital addiction. This study suggests the importance of managing digital device usage and raising students' awareness of the negative impacts of excessive social media use. The findings imply the need for support from universities and mental health organizations to provide interventions that help students manage their digital lifestyles, reduce stress, and improve their mental well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in body angle on propulsion force and water resistance in swimming athletes through a biomechanical approach. The background of the study is based on the importance of movement efficiency in swimming, where a less than optimal body position can increase the drag coefficient, thereby slowing swimming speed. The research method uses a quantitative experimental design involving professional and semi-professional level swimmers. The instruments used include a motion capture system to record body movements, force sensors to measure propulsion and water resistance, and biomechanical software to analyze force vectors and drag coefficients. The results show significant differences in swimming performance based on variations in body angle. At an angle of 0°, the average propulsion force generated is 145.3 N with a drag coefficient of 0.92. At an angle of 15°, the propulsion force increases to 162.7 N with the lowest drag coefficient of 0.78. Meanwhile, at an angle of 30°, the propulsion force decreases to 150.1 N with the drag coefficient again increasing to 0.88. These findings demonstrate that a 15° body angle is the most optimal position because it minimizes water resistance while maximizing propulsion, thereby increasing swimming efficiency. The implications of this study suggest that a biomechanical approach can be used as a reference in planning swimming training programs. In addition to contributing to the development of sports science, the results of this study also have practical benefits for athletes and coaches in developing more effective training strategies. Future research is recommended to expand the sample size and include various swimming styles to strengthen the generalizability of the results.
