Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the level of knowledge of biology education students on the topic of Biopreneurship. This research uses a descriptive evaluative method, namely a study method that evaluates objective conditions or what they are in a situation that is the object of study. The analysis used is descriptive qualitative, namely research that accurately describes the nature of an individual, certain circumstances or symptoms so that they can be described thoroughly. Data collection was carried out using several techniques, namely literature studies and field observations. Biontrepreneurship is the integration of biological sciences with business sciences which involves all aspects of living things. Biopreneurship is defined as the use of living things that can be processed into business products and can be marketed, resulting in a productive economy. Seeing the importance of Biopreneurship, interdisciplinary learning began to be carried out. This is done so that students are able to combine their knowledge to apply it to solve various problems in the real world. The results of the analysis show that biology education students' knowledge on the topic of Biopreneurship is in the high category with a score of 82. Based on the level of Biopreneurship knowledge which is categorized as high, it is estimated that students will be able to design good Biopreneurship products.

Abstract

This research aims to determined the feasibility of HOTS-based biology summative test instruments from the aspects of validity, reliability, difficulty index, discriminating index, and distractor function. This research was designed using ADDIE development model. The test instrument was validated by experts and undergo three times trial. Research results showed that the test instrument was declared very feasible according to material expert and evaluation expert. Three times trial of multiple-choice question showed: (1) increased trend of validity (respectively 85%, 95%, 100%), (2) increased trend of reliability (respectively 0.72, 0.75, 0.77) with high category, (3) the difficulty index is dominated by medium levels and nearly approached the balanced proportion, (4) the discriminating index are dominated by good category items, and (5) the distractors are effectively functioning. While three times trial of essay question showed: (1) increased trend of validity (respectively 80%, 100%, 100%), (2) decreased trend of reliability (respectively 0.71, 0.71, 0.64) with enough category, (3) the difficulty index is dominated by medium levels but it was still far from the balanced proportion, and (4) the discriminating index are dominated by good category items. It can be concluded that the HOTS-based test instrument is feasible to be use as an evaluation instrument.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of mind mapping learning techniques on the interest and learning outcomes of students in class XI MIPA at MAN 1 Medan. This research is a quantitative research using quasi-experimental research type. This study used two classes, namely experimental classes using mind mapping learning techniques and control classes using conventional learning techniques. Student interest in learning was obtained through a questionnaire sheet of student interest in learning with indicators of feelings of pleasure, student interest, student attention, and student involvement. Student learning outcomes were obtained through multiple choice objective tests. The learning outcome test was used to assess students' abilities at the C1-C6 cognitive level. The results of hypothesis testing were obtained using independent samples t-test. The results showed that there was an effect of mind mapping technique on students' interest and learning outcomes with a significance value of 0.003 for students' interest and 0.000 for students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

The development of open materials is necessary to improve their The Development of teaching materials is necessary to improve student understanding. However, the existing teaching materials still have shortcomings, meaning they do not fully support the learning process in learning media courses. These weaknesses can be in the form of learning information presented that is not detailed, both in terms of material and visualization, or that some teaching materials are presented in a foreign language and are difficult to understand. Seeing these problems, the aim of this research is to analyze the needs for CASE-based teaching materials (Creative, Active, Systematic and Effective) in improving students' problemsolving and creative abilities in learning media courses. CASE (Creative, Active, Systematic and Effective) is intended to help students creatively, actively, systematically and effectively, resulting in successful achievement of learning objectives. In this situation, creativity refers to the ability to develop unique teaching materials that can motivate students to learn. The definition of creative thinking is the ability to create new correlations between various aspects, analyze them, and use conclusions to solve problems in certain learning. The subjects of this research are students of the Biology Education study program, Department of Biology, Medan State University class of 2020. The sample was randomly selected as many as 30 students. This research is a qualitative descriptive research oriented towards the development of a product. Data collection was carried out using interview sheets, observation sheets and questionnaires.

Abstract

Textbooks are books that teachers and students use in learning activities.Textbooks contain learning materials and instructional learning activities that are in accordance with the learning plan that has been prepared by the teacher. Textbooks based on Case method and team-based projects can direct students to carry out several science process skills that are integrated into the learning activities contained in the textbook. This study aims to determine the role of Plant Morphology textbooks based on case methods and teambased projects in improving the science process skills of Biology students. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. This Plant Morphology textbook was developed using the ADDIE development model with stages of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation and has been tested for its feasibility. The subject of this study is a plant morphology textbook based on case methods and teambased projects used in learning plant morphology courses. The object of the study is the science process skills of Biology students at the State University of Medan which include ability interpret, predict, analyze data, group, design, conclude and communicate. The results of the study showed that the average value of the ability to interpret 79.4 (high), predict 78.4 (high), analyze data 79.6 (high), group 78.9 (good), design 80 (good), conclude 86 (very good), communicate 86.5 (very good). The number of students who have science process skills with a good category is 90.9% and those who have a less good category are 9.1%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of e-worksheet with a scientific approach in class XI IPA SMA Unggulan Al-Manar in the learning process as measured by students' critical thinking skills. The instrument for measuring the question is administered both before and after the implementation of the learning. The data analysis technique employs quantitative analysis, specifically the calculation of the average value, to assess the students' critical thinking skills. The results of the data analysis indicate that the implementation of learning using e-worksheet with a scientific approach can enhance the critical thinking skills of students in class XI IPA at SMA Unggulan Al-Manar. This is evidenced by the change in the cognitive value of students during the pretest and posttest, which fell within the very good category. The average value of students during the pretest was 54.13, while the average value increased to 86.75 during the posttest, indicating an improvement in critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The study aims to validate the textbook of Human Anatomy and Physiology. The validation conducted leads to the analysis of the textbook on scientific literacy, namely to determine the scope of scientific literacy in the textbook. This study is a descriptive study that aims to explain the validation results. This module was validated by three validators. There are four components that validated, namely content validity consisting of module components and the suitability of module content, construct validity, language validity, and suitability with learning that uses conceptual changes. The results of the validation of human anatomy and physiology materials for semester VI Biology students at Medan State University found that the standards for human anatomy and physiology teaching materials based on scientific literacy have met the Very Good category with a percentage score and an average number of feasibility: Content feasibility is 88.67, presentation feasibility 93%, feasibility of scientific literacy components 93%. The results of the study concluded three textbooks used in university emphasize more on the presentation of facts, concepts, principles, laws, theories and models and emphasize that students can remember information through questions.
