Core Subject : Education,
Journal of Action Research in Education (JARE) is concerned with exploring the dialogue between research and practice in educational settings. The considerable increase in interest in action research in recent years has been accompanied by the development of a number of different approaches: for example, to promote reflective practice; professional development; empowerment; understanding of tacit professional knowledge; curriculum development; individual, institutional and community change; and development of democratic management and administration. Proponents of all these share the common aim of ending the dislocation of research from practice, an aim which links them with those involved in participatory research and action inquiry. This journal publishes accounts of a range of action research and related studies, in education and across the professions, with the aim of making their outcomes widely available and exemplifying the variety of possible styles of reporting. It aims to establish and maintain a review of the literature of action research. It also provides a forum for dialogue on the methodological and epistemological issues, enabling different approaches to be subjected to critical reflection and analysis.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the process of using the demonstration method in mathematics learning on the area of square and rectangular shapes and improving student learning outcomes on the area of flat shapes through the demonstration method. The type of research used is classroom action research (PTK) which has 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The data collection techniques used were interviews, tests, observation and documentation. The research instrument is a test sheet on student learning outcomes. The subjects of the research were all class IV students for the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 25 students consisting of 12 male students and 13 female students. The results of the research show that the application of the demonstration method can improve student learning outcomes which achieve a score above 70 with a percentage of complete learning outcomes, pre-cycle 28% with an average score of 56.8, Cycle I 60% with an average score of 68 and Cycle 2 96% with average 81.2. Based on the research, it can be concluded that learning mathematics about the area of square and rectangular shapes by applying the demonstration method can be successful, so it can be used as an alternative solution to improve mathematics learning at UPTD SDN Kesek 1.

Abstract

This research aims to improve civics learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SDN Kesek 1 through the application of the discussion method. This research is classroom action research with the research subjects being fifth grade students at SDN Kesek 1 for the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 32 students with minimum completion criteria of 75% individual and 80% classical. Data collection techniques using interview, observastion, tests and documentation with data collection instruments using interview sheets, teacher and student activity observation sheets, teaching modules and question sheets. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive. The research results showed that teacher activities in cycle I, namely 68,75% and increased in cycle II, namely 81,25%. Student activities in cycle I, namely 64,06% and increased in cycle II, namely 82,81%. Student learning outcomes in cycle I, namely 71,87% and increased in cycle II, namely 87,5%. Based on from the research data, it can be concluded that through the application of the discussion method, student learning outcomes in civics learning can be improved fifth grade students of SDN Kesek 1.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the factors that cause students to be less active in learning mathematics and to find out whether there is an increase in student involvement after implementing the game method accompanied by giving rewards in the form of praise or physical forms in mathematics subjects. The research was conducted in class IV at SDN Nyormanis 2 using the classroom action research method. This method was implemented through cycles 1 and cycle 2. In cycle 1 the researchers used the quiz game method which was carried out in groups and accompanied by rewards in the form of praise and applause. Meanwhile, in cycle 2 the researchers used the quiz game method but individually and accompanied by giving rewards in the form of snacks. Each cycle found an increase in student involvement in the learning process after giving rewards. The percentage of activeness in cycle I increased compared to the pre-cycle, then the percentage of activeness in cycle II increased compared to cycle I. The factor causing students to be inactive in learning was students' lack of motivation towards the learning process. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of game methods with rewards is effective in increasing student involvement in mathematics subjects.

Abstract

This research aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes in the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. This research is classroom action research with the research subject being class IV of SDN TANJUNG JATI 2 for the 2024/2025 academic year and the research object is the students' mathematics learning outcomes. This research was carried out in two cycles where the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model was in cycle 2. Data was collected by observation, affective domain student learning outcomes questionnaires, field notes, written tests and documentation. Data were analyzed using triangulation techniques and qualitative descriptions. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve the learning outcomes of class IV students at SDN Tanjung Jati 2

Abstract

This research aims to determine the results of science learning, especially regarding the growth of green beans and group learning activities of class V students at SD Negeri Telang 2 through the application of the Project Based Learning learning model. The conclusion of the research is that the percentage of completeness obtained through completing project assignments in groups using the project based learning model before the intervention was 21%. In cycle I it increased to 67%, and in cycle II the increase reached 70%. It can be concluded that the use of the Project Based Learning learning model is effective in increasing science learning outcomes, especially in the growth of green beans, reaching up to 70%.
