Abstract

This study aims to analyze the optimal planting distance for increasing horticultural crop productivity. Through a comprehensive literature review, the research highlights the role of plant spacing in improving photosynthesis, nutrient uptake, and crop yield. Findings indicate that efficient spacing significantly enhances resource use efficiency, reduces competition among plants, and mitigates risks such as pest outbreaks and nutrient deficiencies. The study also emphasizes the use of precision agriculture technologies, such as GIS and IoT-based tools, to customize planting distances for various crops and environmental conditions. These insights are expected to contribute to sustainable agricultural practices that optimize land use while maintaining environmental balance.

Abstract

Emergency vegetable pesticides as an environmentally friendly solution for controlling pests and diseases in plants. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of botanical pesticides made from neem (Azadirachta indica) and soursop leaf (Annona muricata) leaf extracts on pest populations, disease attack levels and plant productivity. The research was carried out experimentally with four treatments: P1 (neem extract), P2 (soursop extract), P3 (combination of neem and soursop), and P4 (control). The research results showed that combination treatment (P3) gave the best results with a reduction in pest populations reaching 80% and the intensity of disease attacks reduced by 75%. In addition, the P3 treatment also succeeded in increasing crop yields by 57% compared to the control. Thus, botanical pesticides have proven effective in controlling pests and diseases, while increasing plant productivity. These findings demonstrate the potential of botanical pesticides as a sustainable alternative in modern agricultural systems.   .

Abstract

Climate change significantly impacts biodiversity in tropical regions, known as areas with the highest biodiversity levels globally. Rising global temperatures, shifting rainfall patterns, and extreme weather events disrupt ecosystem stability, causing habitat degradation, population declines, and even extinction of endemic species. This study aims to examine the effects of climate change on tropical ecosystems and explore applicable mitigation and adaptation strategies. The analysis reveals that species in tropical regions are highly vulnerable to environmental changes due to their dependence on stable climatic conditions. Ecosystem-based conservation, habitat restoration, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions are essential steps to ensure the sustainability of tropical biodiversity. Collaborative efforts among governments, scientists, and communities are necessary to minimize the impacts of climate change on tropical biodiversity.

Abstract

Soil moisture is a crucial factor affecting plant growth and productivity. One way to enhance the soil's water-holding capacity is through the application of organic materials such as burnt rice husks (biochar). This literature review identifies and analyzes the effects of biochar application on soil moisture. Results show that biochar significantly improves soil moisture by increasing porosity and water retention. It also enhances soil structure and supports microbial activity. However, there are challenges in environmentally friendly production and consistency in quality. Therefore, burnt rice husks can be a sustainable solution for improving soil moisture.

Abstract

Soil moisture is a crucial factor influencing plant growth and agricultural land productivity. One effective natural method to maintain soil water content is the utilization of straw as mulch or organic matter. This study was conducted through a literature review by analyzing a number of scientific journals that discussed the effects of straw application on soil physical characteristics, particularly the soil’s ability to retain water. The findings indicate that straw plays a multifunctional role, such as reducing the rate of water evaporation, improving soil structure and aggregation, and increasing organic matter content. In addition, straw supports soil microbial activity and helps stabilize soil temperature. This review recommends the use of straw as part of conservative and environmentally friendly farming practices to support sustainable soil water resilience.

Abstract

The use of compost as organic material has been proven to have a positive effect on the physical properties of the soil, one of which is increasing soil moisture. This study aims to examine the effect of composting on soil moisture through a literature review approach. Data were obtained from various relevant scientific sources, such as research journals, scientific articles, and academic reports published between 2014 and 2024. The results of the study showed that compost from various sources, such as rice straw, gamal leaves, and banana stems, can increase the soil's capacity to store water. This is due to the organic matter content in compost which improves soil structure, increases aggregation, and enlarges soil micropores. Increased soil moisture due to composting also has an impact on plant growth, especially on dry or marginal land. The effectiveness of compost in maintaining soil moisture is influenced by several factors, such as soil type, dosage, type of compost material, and the level of maturity of the compost itself. Thus, compost plays an important role in water conservation and increasing agricultural productivity sustainably. This study recommends the need for further experimental research to directly test the effectiveness of various types of compost in different agro-climatic conditions.

Abstract

Soil moisture is a vital factor in supporting plant growth and land productivity. One effort to maintain and enhance soil moisture is through the application of manure and organic fertilizers. This study aims to systematically examine the effects of manure and organic fertilizers on soil moisture based on previous research findings. The method employed is a literature review by analyzing various relevant sources, including scientific journals, textbooks, and research reports. The results indicate that manure and organic fertilizers can improve soil moisture through enhancements in soil structure, aggregation, resistance to evaporation, and water retention capacity. The combination of organic fertilizer use and proper application management has been shown to yield more optimal results in preserving soil moisture. Therefore, the use of manure and organic fertilizers is an effective and sustainable solution for maintaining soil quality, especially in agricultural areas prone to drought.

Abstract

Peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) are food crops that have high economic value due to their high nutritional content, especially protein and fat. The purpose of this study is to ensure that the accuracy of watering plants, especially peanut plants, must be truly considered in order to maintain optimal plant growth and development. The research method used is field work practice by cultivating peanut plants directly in Dahan Tabaloho Village, Gunungsitoli District. From the research conducted, it was proven that the effect of accuracy in watering peanut plants greatly affects the growth and development of these plants. When the accuracy in watering is not optimal, it will interfere with the growth of peanut plants.

Abstract

Drought is one of the major limiting factors in the cultivation of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.), particularly in dryland and marginal areas. This study aims to evaluate the adaptive responses of peanut plants to drought stress through a comprehensive literature analysis. The approach combines a narrative review and meta-analysis of scientific studies published between 2010 and 2024. The analysis revealed that drought during the generative phase can reduce yield by up to 70–80%. Peanut plants exhibit various adaptive mechanisms, including root elongation, stomatal closure, increased activity of antioxidant enzymes (CAT and APX), accumulation of osmolytes (proline and agmatine), and enhanced levels of stress-related hormones such as abscisic acid (ABA). In addition, agronomic techniques such as seed priming with melatonin have been proven effective in enhancing drought tolerance by improving photosynthetic efficiency and cellular protection. This study highlights that the drought tolerance of peanut plants is a complex interaction between morphological, physiological, and molecular factors. Therefore, selecting drought-tolerant cultivars and applying adaptive cultivation technologies are key strategies for maintaining productivity under water-limited conditions.
