Abstract

This article exposes the matter of false consciousness in self-healing as one of contemporary digital activism. Self-healing can be defined as a process in which the body becomes healthy or complete again. The idea itself has been adopted in a wide variety of social media namely Instagram and Tiktok. However, the concept of self-healing itself is shaped by shadow awareness as supported by false consciousness by Gyorgy Lukacs. This article uses qualitative method through explorative approach to understand new points of digital activism. In analysis, self-healing is not actualizing self-awareness, but only to comfort the mind and body from existing busy routines. Self-healing is not matter of amending true self, but as such escapism from busy daily routines. In conclusion, self-healing indeed deteriorates the ultimate idea of healing itself by indicating such false consciousness. It is not real, but plays as a mere illusory shadow

Abstract

This paper argues that the authoritarianism of the current Joko Widodo government can be seen in this conflict between the state and society in Rempang Island. Residents of Rempang, Batam, numbering in the thousands, have steadfastly refused to leave their homes. In order to advance the Rempang Eco City National Strategic Project (PSN), relocation to Galang Island is being considered. It was inevitable that civilians would rebel. On September 7th, 2023, tensions between police and locals erupted into violent clashes. The police opened out on the crowd with tear gas. Students were also impacted and taken to the hospital for treatment. Many groups are keeping tabs on the situation on Rempang Island, Batam. This is because locals have voiced opposition to the PSN (National Strategic Project) -designated development of the Rempang Eco City region under the administration of Joko Widodo. The nation's oligarchy and Chinese capital (PRC) are eager to grab Malay land through transactional and discriminatory policies, implementing a top-down strategy. Because of its arbitrary nature and its use of power instruments for the benefit of the oligarchy, this enterprise modelled after the VOC colonialism must be corrected, controlled by the people, and cannot be accepted.

Abstract

Studies regarding the actualization of democratic values at the village level are generally a factor in the emergence of horizontal conflicts that occur in village communities. However, this article explains that the actualization of democratic values actually led to conflict resolution involving fellow religious believers in Watutulis Village, Prambon District, Sidoarjo Regency. The data findings show that learning, understanding and implementing democratic values has an impact on the importance of living with differences and provides space for freedom for every religious adherent to carry out their worship. To obtain in-depth data, research was carried out by interviewing religious leaders involved in the conflict, village officials, then observing religious activities, and collecting documents from related parties. In efforts to carry out conflict resolution, all parties agree on a dialogue process which then agrees on the values of democracy, namely respect for the freedom of individuals or groups to express their beliefs, equal status before the law and community participation in the context of village development. The argument of this article is that the implementation of democratic values at the village level can work and actually become the foundation for the development of a modern democratic society. Understanding democratic values such as respect for human rights actually makes efforts to resolve horizontal conflicts between religious communities in the village.

The United Nations Security Council has made resolution No. 2513 of 2020 which contains the Joint Declaration between the governments of the United States and Afghanistan. The United Nations has been instrumental in addressing this ongoing Taliban conflict in various ways and strategies deployed to the Afghan community in protecting and enforcing human rights.
