Abstract

This paper discusses the method of takhrij al-hadith as one of the essential disciplines in hadith studies. It aims to trace the origins of a hadith from primary sources, assess the validity of its chain of transmission (sanad) and content (matan), and determine its degree of authenticity. The study begins with an etymological and terminological definition of takhrij, followed by an explanation of its objectives, benefits, and practical steps involved in the process. The author also outlines the fundamental principles that must be mastered, such as proficiency in hadith wording, familiarity with canonical hadith collections, knowledge of musthalah al-hadith (hadith terminology), and the ability to evaluate the quality of transmitters through ‘ilm al-rijal (biographical evaluation). In addition, this paper highlights contemporary challenges in the practice of takhrij, including limited sources, insufficient Arabic language skills, and the widespread circulation of unauthenticated hadiths in the digital era. To address these challenges, the paper proposes solutions such as the use of digital tools, the consolidation of electronic libraries, and the integration of interdisciplinary approaches in hadith research. A case study of takhrij applied to a hadith from Sahih al-Bukhari is also presented to demonstrate the systematic application of the method. This paper asserts that mastery of the takhrij al-hadith method is vital for preserving the purity of Islamic teachings, enhancing academic credibility, and fostering scholarly ethics and critical thinking in the evaluation of religious information

Abstract

Penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka sebagai respons terhadap pendidikan di indonesia setelah terjadinya pandemi Covid-19, mengingat banyak siswa mengalami ketertinggalan dalam pembelajaran. Fokus pada mengatasi learning loss dan learning crisis merupakan langkah strategis untuk membantu siswa kembali dalam proses pendidikan mereka, Kurikulum Merdeka sebagai salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan didalam dunia pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui 1) Bagaimana penerapan kurikulum merdeka pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti di SMP Nahdlatul Ulama 2 Gresik, 2) Apa permasalahan penerapan kurikulum merdeka pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti di SMP Nahdlatul Ulama 2 Gresik, dan 3) Apa upaya dalam mengatasi permasalahan penerapan kurikulum merdeka pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti di SMP Nahdlatul Ulama 2 Gresik, Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pendekatan kualitiatif deskriptif dengan mengambil obyek SMP Nahdlatul Ulama 2 Gresik, melalui pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Narasumer dalam penelitian ini yaitu kepala sekolah, waka kurikulum, guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti , dan peserta didik kelas VII, Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, 1) Penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka yang mencakup pelatihan, pembuatan modul ajar, dan kegiatan P5 di luar jam pembelajaran menunjukkan komitmen sekolah untuk menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih baik bagi siswa. 2) Penerapan metode problem-based learning dan langkah-langkah yang jelas dalam kegiatan pembelajaran menunjukkan bahwa guru sudah memahami dan menerapkan prinsip-prinsip Kurikulum Merdeka dengan baik. 3) kelebihan dan kekurangan dalam penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka sangat umum terjadi, terutama saat transisi dari metode pengajaran tradisional ke pendekatan yang lebih modern. Kelebihan yang sudah ada, seperti pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dan bervariasi. Untuk mengatasi kekurangan, seperti penggunaan metode ceramah dan pemahaman tentang asesmen diagnostik, mungkin dapat dilakukan pelatihan tambahan atau kolaborasi antara guru untuk berbagi praktik terbaik.

Abstract

Hadith is the second source of Islamic teachings after the Qur'an which has an important position in determining the validity of Islamic laws and teachings. To maintain the purity of the hadith, an in-depth study of the narration of the hadith is needed, especially in assessing the credibility of the narrators. One of the sciences that plays an important role in this process is the science of Al-Jarḥ wa At-Ta'dīl, which is a science that discusses the assessment of the narrator of the hadith, both in the form of criticism (jarḥ) of shortcomings and praise (ta'dīl) for their justice and accuracy. This study uses a library research method with a qualitative approach, based on the analysis of literature from various scientific sources. The results of the study show that Al-Jarḥ wa At-Ta'dīl has a strong shari'a basis both from the Qur'an and the hadith of the Prophet, and contains a number of conditions for scholars who want to criticize and praise the narrator. This study confirms that the validity of the hadith depends heavily on the integrity of the narrators, which can only be determined through the strict scientific method as stipulated in the Science of Al-Jarḥ wa At-Ta'dīl

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article critically examines the classical Western Orientalist perspectives on Islam and the Prophet Muhammad through a historical and literature-based analysis. The background of this study highlights how, from the Islamic Golden Age to the modern era, Orientalist scholarship has frequently constructed negative and biased narratives that have shaped Western perceptions of Islam. The research aims to identify the political and theological motives underlying Orientalist discourse and to analyze the impact of these narratives on relations between Muslims and non-Muslims. The study employs a literature review method, focusing on the works of prominent Orientalists such as Ignaz Goldziher and Joseph Schacht, as well as broader literature on the development of Orientalism in hadith studies and the biography of the Prophet Muhammad. The findings reveal that classical Orientalists often portrayed Islam as a static, irrational, and inferior religion, frequently disregarding the internal diversity of Islamic traditions. These negative portrayals have reinforced stereotypes and prejudices within Western societies, significantly affecting social and political relations between the Islamic world and the West. The implications of this study underscore the importance of understanding the political and theological agendas behind Orientalist scholarship and call for critical responses from Muslim scholars to balance the discourse, correct public perceptions, and foster more constructive and equitable dialogue about Islam and the Prophet Muhammad on a global scale.

Abstract

Instagram has become a platform where information flows rapidly and widely, ranging from entertainment and educational content to religious discourse. In the context of education, narratives about religious moderation in Indonesia vary—some are persuasive, while others are provocative. Ideally, provocative content on social media should be countered with persuasive content. This paper highlights a figure of religious moderation who advocates for Islam as a mazhab cinta (school of love), namely Husein Ja'far Al-Hadar (@husein_hadar). Specifically, it focuses on one of his posts dated August 16, 2023, with the caption: “Anyone who is not your brother in religion, ethnicity, or other identities is your brother in Indonesia.” This writing explores how Husein Ja'far Al-Hadar's Islam mazhab cinta is reflected through the lens of meaning and media in that particular post. Additionally, it investigates the extent to which the values of religious moderation are embodied in his message, using semiotic and structuralist analysis. It also examines the denotative and connotative meanings of the image showing a habib and a bante standing together in traditional religious attire. Based on relevant theories and conceptual frameworks, the post can be analyzed as a representation of religious moderation values consistent with the social routines and everyday activities Husein Ja'far Al-Hadar regularly advocates. Ultimately, the core of Husein Ja'far Al-Hadar’s approach to religious moderation lies in the application of religious values related to faith and worship through his concept of Islam as a mazhab cinta

Abstract

‘Ali al-Madini (161-234 H) is known as one of the teachers of Imam al-Bukhari, who is widely regarded for making significant contributions to the understanding of al-Bukhari, particularly in the aspect of rijal al-hadith. al-Madini’s participation in influencing the character and methodology of compiling al-Bukhari’s books reflects a profound role in the realm of rijal al-hadith that, to this day, has not been comprehensively addressed in studies. Therefore, the objective of this study is to track the contributions ‘Ali al-Madini in the context of rijal al-hadith as an attempt to explore the participation of al-Madini’s thought in the book of Imam al-Bukhari. The analytical approach utilized in this study is substantive analysis technique (content analysis) through the bibliographic approach proposed by Ibn al-Nadim, by identifying and analyzing texts and documents relevant to the topic under discussion. Substantially, various aspects are examined in this study, starting from the depiction of the life story of ‘Ali al-Madini, the critical reasoning of al-Madini in rijal al-hadith, proceeded by assessing the credibility of al-Madini from the viewpoint of Imam al-Bukhari, and concluding with an analysis contributions of ‘Ali al-Madini in the aspect of rijal al-hadith in two books of Imam al-Bukhari: al-Jami’ al-Sahih and al-Tarikh al-Kabir. The results of this research reveal ‘Ali al-Madini’s involvement to the field of rijal al-hadith through the methodology of compiling two books of Imam al-Bukhari: al-Jami’ al-Sahih and al-Tarikh al-Kabir. al-Bukhari also frequently refers to the viewpoints of al-Madini and references the hadith that al-Madini strengthens in the evaluation of their narrators

Abstract

There are three methods of ijtihad maqāṣid. They include the bayāni method (substantive analysis), the qiyās method (analogical analysis), and the iṣṭiṣlāḥi method (beneficial analysis). Some familiar names in the study of maqāṣid include Ibn Asyur, Al-Syatibi, and Jaser Auda. Jaser is even referred to as the father of contemporary maqāṣid. One name that is less commonly studied compared to the previous two is Abdullah ibn Bayyah. Through a search on Google Scholar, his name appears as the title of research four times. These research topics include maqāṣid mua’amalāt, the renewal of Islamic law, political interpretations of maqāṣid studies, the concept of security according to Bin Bayyah, and human rights according to Bin Bayyah. These studies are sufficient to describe the practical aspect of Abdullah Bin Bayyah's use of his maqāṣid perspective. However, they have not yet described his methods and theories of exploring maqāṣid in one research title. Therefore, this research deems it necessary to comprehensively discuss the method of exploration (istinbāṭ) of maqāṣid according to Abdullah ibn Bayyah, as well as the similarities and differences with other istinbāṭ methods. It also highlights the distinctive features of Abdullah ibn Bayyah's istinbāṭ. Abdullah ibn Bayyah offers an additional paradigm in maqāṣid istinbāṭ, which is maqṣad al-tark. He terms it as bid’ah al-tark. Simply put, he explains that it refers to "engaging in matters that are in the position of al-tark (no explicit command or prohibition in Islamic law), which is where differences, debates, and even sensitivities arise." Al-tark refers to the absence of a specific action by the Prophet, even though it is permissible. Therefore, in this context, a) al-sukut (silence) also falls under al-tark, b) iqrār (acknowledgment) that signifies al-kaff (omission), c) al-tark al-‘adami (absolute omission), d) al-tark or al-kaff al-wujudi (existential omission), e) something that was previously mentioned as a command or prohibition by the Prophet but is now abandoned or implemented.

Abstract

Economics Miracle is a form of uniqueness and exceptionalism of the economic teachings found in the Qur’an, both implicit and explicit, which can address the challenges of the times and provide solutions to the economic problems of humanity. Accounting, based on sources from Islamic law, functions to provide important information for decision-makers. However, the misuse of accounting that does not align with the teachings of Sharia can result in the invalidity of transaction records. Therefore, the explanation of Qur’anic principles in accounting is crucial as a guide for society. Accounting activities, both textual and contextual, are outlined in the Qur’an, where the author specifically discusses the science of accounting as stated in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 282, which clearly and thoroughly provides guidelines for accountants to produce accurate and accountable records. Using the approach of i’jāz al-iqtiṣādi, the author analyzes with the aim of contributing to accounting practices that are more in line with the teachings of the Qur’an.

Abstract

This paper discusses Tafsir Maqashid in Tafsir al-Taḥrīr wa al-Tanwīr. This is based on 'Izz al-Dīn ibn Sa'īd in Ummahāt Maqāṣid al-Qur'ān wa Turuq Ma'rifatihā wa Maqāṣidiha who noted that Ibn Āshūr became one of the figures in the field of maqaṣid. So this paper wants to examine whether Ibn Āshūr also did maqāṣid when interpreting surah al-Qāri'ah. The descriptive-analytical approach used in this research yields the result that when Ibn Āshūr interpreted surah al-Qāri'ah, he was not much different from other commentaries that explain the linguistic discourse in it.

Abstract

This article examines the role of the concept of kafa'ah in determining the success of marriage, focusing on the analysis of munakahat hadith. The discussion of kafa'ah, which refers to equality and compatibility between partners in various aspects, is one of the important factors in building a harmonious and lasting relationship. In today's changing times, there are many aspects that resemble the requirements that the prophet has recommended to us to choose a quality partner, and the author wants to explore what these similarities are. Through a qualitative approach, this study analyzes various traditions related to munakahat to identify the principles of kafa'ah that can be applied in the context of modern marriage and the author also uses the tahrij method to determine the quality of the traditions that are the first source of reference in this article. The results of the analysis show that an in-depth understanding of kafa'ah can help couples choose the right candidate and minimize conflicts that may arise due to incompatibility. Thus, this article emphasizes the importance of considering the aspect of kafa'ah in the process of selecting a partner, as an effort to achieve success and happiness in marriage
