Abstract

This article is a literature review on Parenting in the Qur'an (Study of QS. Luqman in Tafsir Al-Amthal by Nasir Makārim Shīrāzī). This research was raised from several social problems regarding the wrong ways or methods of parents in raising children. There are several wrong methods of parents in educating children including parents who are toxic parents, this toxic parenting pattern is a toxic parenting pattern, a different way from that taught by the Prophet Muhammad and the Qur'an or from parenting sciences in general. Parents with behavior like the above are parenting patterns that are detrimental or damaging to the emotional and mental well-being of their children. This behavior can appear in various forms, including physical, emotional, and psychological children. This paper aims to examine more deeply the concept of parenting in the Qur'an from the perspective of Nasir Makārim Shīrāzī in the current context full of challenges, the importance of guidelines on parenting in Islam, especially in the view of the Qur'an which is an urgent need. This study uses a thematic method with a social approach and descriptive-analytical research type. The results of this study indicate that Makārim Shīrāzī's interpretation of parenting is not explicitly mentioned. However, his views on parenting are taken from the principles of the Qur'an by using verses of the Qur'an to emphasize the importance of the role of parents in guiding their children through strong moral and spiritual education. Verses such as those in Surah Luqman verses 13-19, Shīrāzī in his view highlights the importance of respecting children's autonomy. Parents must understand that although they have an important role in guiding children, they must also respect children's freedom to think and act according to their own personality and needs. Respecting children's autonomy within the framework of the values ​​of the Qur'an will help children grow into independent, responsible individuals who are able to face life's challenges with confidence.

Abstract

This article explores the role of Qur'anic teachings in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Muslim-majority countries. Focusing on Qur'anic verses relevant to contemporary social issues, the article analyzes how Islamic values on social justice, poverty alleviation, education and gender equality can provide an ethical foundation for sustainable development policies. The study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach, integrating classical and contemporary commentaries with UN reports on the implementation of the SDGs in Muslim countries. One important finding is how the concepts of zakat and waqf, as forms of Islamic social finance, can support the achievement of SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), especially through effective zakat management in Indonesia and Malaysia. In addition, the article also highlights the Green Hajj initiative in Saudi Arabia that supports SDG 13 (Climate Action) by reducing the carbon footprint during the pilgrimage. However, major challenges remain, including inequality in wealth distribution, patriarchal culture, and political instability. Therefore, synergy between religious teachings, government policies, and international cooperation is needed to overcome these barriers. As such, this article contributes to the understanding of how Islamic values can be implemented in support of sustainable global development.

Abstract

This research examines the history of the Crusades and their impact on Islamic civilization and the thinking of ulama in the modern era. The Crusades were a series of conflicts that began with religious motives and turned political and economic. Regarding zonation, the Crusades were initially centered around Jerusalem, then spread to various other areas and took place between 1096 and 1365 AD. The focus of the study in this article includes: (1)History and factors that led to the Crusades, (2)Periodization of the Crusades, (3)The impact of the Crusades on the progress of Western nations and the decadence of civilization in the East, (4)Thoughts on the continuing gap between Islam and Christianity after the Crusades and (5)What Muslims should do to prevent the decadence of civilization. Through qualitative research methods with a literature review, this research found several conclusions: (1)The Crusades manifested European expansionism. (2)The Crusades had several significant impacts on the progress of European nations; (3)The Islamic world experienced decadence in various areas of life due to this series of events, both in Andalusia, Baghdad, Jerusalem, and other Islamic regions, (4)Even though the Muslims were successful defending most of its territory from attacks by the crusaders, the losses they suffered were very large. The Islamic world has been hit by various religious, political, socio-economic, educational, and cultural crises. These losses resulted in the weakening of the political power of Muslims, which further worsened the condition of division (5)Even though the Crusades ended several centuries ago, stereotypes of Muslims and even ulama in the modern era consider that every religious conflict is an extension of The Crusades. This research is very useful in providing a horizon for reading major conflicts between religious communities and the motives behind religious interests, as well as things that Muslims need to pay attention to so that they are always alert to all forms of attacks in the name of religion.

Abstract

In essence, the study of the Qur'an does not always focus on the text of the Qur'an (mā fil al-Qur'an) and what happens around the Qur'an (ma haul al-Qur'an), but it is possible also extends to the living Qur'an, consisting of social phenomena regarding the existence of the Qur'an in certain Muslim communities, or the daily lives of people who interact with the Qur'an, in other words the living Qur'an in society. This library research explores data from relevant library materials as a data source and uses qualitative descriptive methods to describe the problems studied. This article aims to explain the development of Al-Qur'an research into the realm of the living Qur'an, where so far Al-Qur'an research has mostly only focused on the text. Thus, the study of the living Qur'an can be an alternative in developing contemporary Al-Qur'an studies.

Abstract

Maqāşidi interpretation plays a crucial role in connecting the two main streams, namely literalist (textual) thinking and contextual interpretation. In maqasidi interpretation, various values are contained, including: the value of justice, the value of humanity, the value of equality, the value of moderation, and the value of freedom or responsibility. The stigma that Islam is a religion of violence is a labeling of recent terrorist acts. This can lead to the Qur'an as a source of ideology. Whereas Islam and the Qur'an both aim to uphold harmony and spread love. This article discusses the concept of tolerance from the perspective of Tahir Ibn Ashur's maqasidi tafsir. This research uses the literature review method, in Ibn Assyria's view there are four principles of tolerance that are initiated, including al-Fitrah, al-Samahah, al-Musawah, and al-hurriyyah.

Abstract

The lugawī hadith style is an inseparable part of the hadith interpretation methodology. This style is presented as an effort by the scholars to reveal the meanings of the Nabawi kalam which has high literary value. This article was written to examine the lugawī hadith style and examples of its application in manifesting the Prophet's messages. This study was written using the bibliographic method through exploration of authoritative references and approaches to religious texts. The approach in question is applied in order to distance researchers from being subjective, thus harming the validity of the research. The research results show that the lugawī hadith style encourages understanding the meaning of alfāẓ al-garībah, majāzāt wa al-ḥaqā'iq and asbāb al-wurūd as well as appreciation of the meaning of texts that contain essential values.

Abstract

This research discusses advanced linguistic principles related to tafsir, specifically regarding lafadz as a vessel of meaning, al-mudhaf as isim al-jami', and nouns that are mentioned individually but indicate a general meaning. Through analysis of various examples in the Qur'an, this article emphasizes the importance of a deep understanding of these terms in the context of interpretation. The study shows that lafadz is not only a linguistic symbol but also a medium that conveys broader and more complex divine messages. By understanding the use of lafadz and terms in the Qur'an, we can uncover deeper meanings, thereby providing a more comprehensive understanding of Islamic teachings and humanity's responsibilities in a larger context.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi atas kekhawatiran yang dialami Usia Emerging Adulthood (usia dewasa awal). Rentan usianya bekisar 18 hingga 25 tahun, di mana mereka mulai merasakan kekhawatiran akan masa depan. Kekhawatiran inilah termasuk ke dalam quarter life crisis. Tidak jarang, mereka yang berada di usia ini mengalami serangkaian kebingunan, gangguan mental, bahkan depresi. Ditambah lagi dengan disrupsi terus menerus, juga berpotensi memperparah krisis mereka. Berangkat dari sanalah tulisan ini berusaha memberikan solusi melalui terapi tawakal, sebagai alternatif. Terapi diartikan sebagai penyembuhan dan tawakal merupakan sikap memasrahkan segalanya kepada Allah. Di saat seseorang telah memasrahkan, artinya tidak akan pernah mengkhawatirkan persoalan masa depan. Penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif jenis pustaka. Artinya, mendedahnya dengan cara mengumpulkan seluruh sumber relevan, baik artikel, laman website, hingga buku. Setelah selesai, baru dilakukan proses analisis. Hasil dari temuan penelitian ialah terapi tawakal bisa dijadikan solusi untuk mengatasi kekhawatiran emerging di era dirsupsi. Dengan terapi tawakal, seseorang akan mendapatkan sikap optimis dan pasrah atas kehidupan mendatang. Meski sudah memasrahkan, mereka akan menggimbanginya dengan usaha terus menerus.

Abstract

This paper discusses the dialectical thoughts of Ibn Rushd and theologians on divine metaphysics. The discussion is based on the study of criticisms and dialogues on the theologians’ view on metaphysics. Three important points emerge: firstly, how Ibn Rushd presented the basis of his critical arguments; secondly, the process of Ibn Rushd’s methods of criticism on the theologians’ metaphysical reasons and lastly, the content of Ibn Rushd’s criticisms of the theologians’ metaphysical reason. This paper provides a detailed description of the themes as accurate and comprehensive ways to provide a basis of Ibn Rushd’s criticism. This study contributes to encouraging and changing the views of scholars of Islamic theology that Ibn Rushd, apart from being a philosopher, is also a critical thinker in the field of Islamic theology.
