Abstract

This study aims to analyze the condition of tourism industry activities, with and without the COVID-19 pandemic. The tourism industries studied are hotel, culinary, travel and tourist sites businesses. The sample obtained in a pandemic condition was only 132 industries , carried out in 3 tourism base areas in Aceh Province, namely Banda Aceh City, Aceh Besar District and Sabang City or Pulau Weh. The study was analyzed using the Quantitative Descriptive Method and The Wilcoxon Test on the tourism industry by comparing the activities of working hours, labor wages expenditure , revenues and other operational costs between with and without the Covid 19 Pandemic. The results reveal that there is a significant difference from the activities of the tourism industry working hours, labor wage expenditure , revenue and other operating costs, with and without a pandemic covid 19. Cost, revenue and profit significantly decreased tourism industries caused by the shrinkage of business activities in the condition of pandemic . The decline in tourism industry revenues was caused by a decrease in the demand for services by tourists, while the labor cost decreased due to a decrease in the number of workers and working hours. It is hoped that government policies will facilitate tourist mobility and do not apply obstacles with very strict large-scale social restrictions. Keywords: Covid 19 Pandemic, Tourism Industry, Wilcoxon Test, Aceh Province

Abstract

Geography material in senior high school is mostly abstract, one of which is the hydrological cycle material. Many teachers have not been able to provide optimal learning due to limited media. The purpose of this research is to determine the suitability of the material with the media and the feasibility of learning media and the level of understanding of high school students on the hydrological cycle material. The research location is in SMA Labschool USK by using a population of all students of class X Social Sciences SMA Laboratory USK, totaling 23 students. The research method uses the RnD (Research and Development) method with the ADDIE model design (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The steps of this research; conducting interviews with geography teachers to find out the problems experienced by students, designing product designs for hydrological cycle learning media, developing products, testing products, testing students' understanding levels after using learning media. The results showed that; validation of the suitability of the material by experts obtained a value of 97.5% with the criteria of "Very Valid", validation of the media obtained a value of 80%, and the criteria of "Appropriate", and Gain value based on pre-test and post -test shows 65.21% of students have high gain criteria, 30.43% students have moderate gain criteria and 4.36% students have low gain criteria. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended for high school geography teachers to use and develop hydrological cycle learning media in an effort to increase student understanding more optimally. Keywords: Development, Learning Media, Understanding, Hydrological Cycle Materials

Abstract

The existence of Ruangguru as one of the online learning platforms in Indonesia has helped students to learn at home individually. Ruangguru smartphone application allows virtual learning to become more organized in adjusting the curriculum. Ruangguru provides exclusive features to facilitate online learning, which makes this application widely used by students. However, many believe that Ruangguru still cannot replace face-to-face learning activities. Therefore, this research aimed to explore the strengths and weaknesses of this platform based on the students’ experience. The participants were five senior high school students batch 2021 from two courses in Banda Aceh who have experienced learning conventional/offline courses and online learning by Ruangguru. This research uses a qualitative approach with interview and observation as the data collection techniques. Based on the research findings, Ruangguru allows learning in an environment without time and place restriction. It is proven capable enough of changing the barriers caused by poverty, location, and other factors. However, Ruangguru could not replace conventional learning, especially in the context of social interaction. The main reason is that Ruangguru only focuses on the students’ learning achievements. However, some other significant aspects are overlooked such as low feedback, lack of peer interaction, and unscheduled learning. Keywords: Ruangguru Application; Online Learning Platform; Conventional Learning

The indicator forms of the researcher used in the level of code-mixing are words, phrase, clause, baster, idiom, and repetition level, while types of code mixing assessed are creative spelling, phonetic typing, word play, abbreviation and meta tags. The research magnified a descriptive qualitative method in which Instagram and WhatsApp’s documents (status, caption, feed, and comment) were observed to get data. Still, a questionnaire was also applied to find out the reasons behind the use of code-mixing among 50 respondents who were selected by using purposive sampling. Result of the research from the respondents’ social accounts reveals that the majority of the respondents used code-mixing in phrase level, while none of them used idiom level. Still, the type of code-mixing frequently used on their social platforms to run online communication is spelling errors. The result of the questionnaire nails some factors behind the usage. Most of the respondents chose to use code-mixing because they want to learn and understand new words by inserting them in sentences. Meanwhile, only some of them felt that to look cool and smart is the reason for using code-mixing on their social media. Keywords: code, code-mixing, social media, youngster.

Abstract

This paper aims to develop and determine the feasibility of Rainbow spin learning media on interaction material between ASEAN countries at MTs Dayah Modern Arun. This research is a research development or Research Development (RD) with the ADDIE development model. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII MTs Dayah Modern Arun with 31 students plus one social science subject teacher. The instruments used in data collection used validation sheets and questionnaires. The results show (a) Analysis, at this stage the researcher determines the Rainbow spin learning media as a learning medium in overcoming student boredom during the learning process; (b) Design, researchers designed the Rainbow spin learning media design using the Photoshop application before it was made into the original form; (c) Development, Rainbow spin learning media experienced several improvements based on the results of suggestions and validators; (d) Implementation, students look active and enthusiastic in the learning process using Rainbow spin learning media; (e) Evaluation, at this stage it is known that Rainbow spin learning media is suitable for use as learning media. Based on the results of media and material validation, the values obtained were 86.25% and 95% with very feasible criteria. The percentage of teacher responses was 90% with very decent criteria, while the results of student responses got the percentage of 8.33% with very feasible criteria. This means that the Rainbow spin learning media is suitable for use as a learning medium in the material of interaction between ASEAN countries. It is suggested to other researchers that further development or changes need to be made so that the material that can be used in Rainbow spin learning media is not only limited to material interactions between ASEAN countries but also other materials. Keywords: Learning media, Rainbow Spin Game, ADDIE development model

Abstract

The implementation of teaching and learning process during pandemic Covid-19 is a challenge for education sectors. Many schools are closed and the process is changed from offline to online learning mode. This is one of ways to minimize the spread of the virus. The massive lockdown and quarantine policies were carried out by the government in Indonesia and across the globe to limit people’s interaction. Due to this condition, educational technology platforms were highlighted to be used massively as the promising response to mitigate the loss of academic learning objectives. This study is investigating attitudes of students at senior high school toward current implementation of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. 20 students were involved in this research which consists of 16 females and 4 males of SMAN 1 Tapaktuan. This research found that most students are ready with their new online learning environment. Students dominantly found that mobile/smart phone as the most popular tool to access online class, and even some of them also owned laptops. This result could be seen clearly in the four categories that have been provided in this article. Keywords: teaching, covid-19, education, attitudes, technology, platform.
