Abstract

This research aims to analyze the interaction between religion and social movements in culturally diverse societies. In a multicultural context, religion often serves as a driver or inhibitor for social movements. This research will use a qualitative approach with a literature study method using existing related literature and documents, in the form of books, scientific journals, articles, previous research reports, and other relevant sources. Primary and secondary data sources are obtained from books and scientific journals related to the sociology of religion, social anthropology, and multiculturalism studies. The data analysis technique uses content analysis to identify and analyze the main patterns, themes, or categories of the text or literature studied. The results showed that religion can strengthen group identity and social mobilization, but it can also lead to intergroup conflict. Social movements, both reformist and conservative, often draw inspiration from religious values. In some cases, social movements have been able to create spaces for constructive interfaith dialogue, promoting understanding and tolerance between different groups. Conversely, tensions that arise between religious practices and social values can lead to polarization within society. Therefore, it is important to understand these dynamics in order to create a harmonious and inclusive society. This research contributes to the development of theories of religion and social movement relations, as well as offering practical insights for stakeholders in dealing with multicultural challenges.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that, in many cases, the assessment of a narrator is not always based on objective evidence, but also involves subjective interpretations by scholars. This raises questions about the standards of objectivity in the science of Rijal al-Hadith and to what extent subjectivity plays a role in evaluating narrators. The aim of this study is to explore and critically analyze the methodology used in Rijal al-Hadith. The research applies a descriptive-analytical approach, with data collected through literature study techniques. The data is then analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate the presence of subjectivity and complexity, especially related to differences in scholarly views on the credibility of narrators such as Al-Waqidi, which highlights the need for contextual understanding and variation in interpretation. Furthermore, Rijal al-Hadith also faces challenges in the context of modernity and social complexity, requiring an evaluation and updating of methodologies to make them more inclusive. The findings of this research imply the necessity of a holistic approach that considers social, cultural, and intellectual aspects, as well as the use of digital technology and interdisciplinary approaches to enhance the accuracy of narrator assessments.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the fact that the methodology of hadith research encompasses two primary approaches, namely pure and applied hadith studies, which play a significant role in the development of hadith studies. This research aims to analyze the definitions, objectives, procedures, similarities, differences, and examples of application of pure and applied hadith research methodologies. This study employs a normative approach and descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected using document studies from primary sources, such as hadith compilations, and secondary sources, such as hadith methodology literature. The data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that pure hadith research focuses on the authenticity of the sanad and matan, whereas applied hadith research emphasizes its relevance and application in contemporary life. The findings of this research imply the necessity of integrating both approaches to preserve the authenticity of hadith while ensuring its relevance to the needs of the Muslim community.

Abstract

The use of modern technology has brought significant transformations in various fields of science, including hadith research. Hadith as one of the main sources of Islamic teachings requires in-depth analyses to ensure its authenticity, validity and understanding. Modern technologies, such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI) and specialised software, allow researchers to access, organise and analyse hadith datasets more efficiently. This article discusses the application of technology in hadith research, ranging from manuscript digitisation, sanad and matan analysis, to the development of interactive hadith databases. By utilising these technologies, researchers can speed up the sanad verification process and detect patterns or anomalies in hadith texts. However, the application of modern technology also presents challenges, such as the interpretation of data that relies on specific algorithms and the need for adjustments to the traditional principles of musthalah hadith science. This study aims to explore the benefits, challenges, and future potential of the use of technology in hadith studies.

Abstract

This article explores the crucial role of Madrasah Hadis in the development of Islamic studies as an institution that successfully integrates traditional values with innovative elements. As the second source of Islamic law after the Qur'an, Hadith plays a central role in guiding Muslims both spiritually and practically. Madrasah Hadis functions not only as a center for the education and study of Hadith but also as an intellectual gathering place where scholars and students exchange ideas on the application of Hadith in everyday life. The historical development of Madrasah Hadis reflects the transition from oral tradition to the systematic collection and codification of Hadith, with significant contributions from prominent scholars such as Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim. In the digital age, these madrasahs continue to evolve by utilizing technology to expand access to Hadith education, ensuring that Islamic teachings remain relevant within the modern social and cultural dynamics. This article highlights the importance of Madrasah Hadis as a bridge between the scholarly heritage of Islam and the challenges of the present era.

Abstract

Islam is a rapidly growing religion in Southeast Asia, spreading through trade, proselytization, marriage, and cultural assimilation. This study aims to examine the history of Islam’s arrival in the region, its development across various ASEAN countries, and the differing conditions faced by Muslims in each nation. Using a qualitative approach through literature review, it was found that Islam first entered Southeast Asia in the 7th century CE via Arab, Persian, and Indian traders. Indonesia, as the initial center for the spread of Islam, became the country with the largest Muslim population in the region, followed by Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. However, the development of Islam in countries like Thailand, the Philippines, and Myanmar has faced significant challenges due to political conflicts, cultural differences, and discrimination against Muslim minorities. In addition to trade and marriage, methods of proselytization such as education, art, and Sufism also played a crucial role in the process of Islamization. This study highlights the differing social and political dynamics influencing the application of Islamic law and the lives of Muslims in each Southeast Asian country. Consequently, this research provides an in-depth understanding of the history and development of Islam and its role in shaping the region's identity.
