Abstract

The city of Medan is one of the major cities in Indonesia that develops in a multicultural social and cultural context. The city's ethnic diversity was formed through a long historical process influenced by colonialism, migration, and urban economic development. This study aims to examine the historical traces of multiculturalism in the city of Medan by focusing on interethnic interaction and its role in the formation of city identity. The research uses a qualitative approach with historical research methods, which include heuristic stages, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data was obtained through documentation studies and literature studies on archives, historical documents, and relevant scientific works. The results of the study show that the multiculturalism of Medan City was formed since the colonial period through the migration of various ethnic groups such as Malays, Bataks, Chinese, Javanese, Tamil Indians, Minangkabau, and Arabs. Interethnic interaction takes place in the economic, social, cultural, and religious fields, which gives birth to a dynamic pattern of relations, both in the form of cooperation and social segregation. The process of cultural acculturation, especially in language, culinary, and social traditions, is an important factor in shaping the plural and inclusive identity of the City of Medan. This study concludes that multiculturalism is not only a historical heritage, but also a social capital that plays a strategic role in maintaining social cohesion and building the identity of the city of Medan as a cosmopolitan city in North Sumatra

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance financial literacy and digital readiness among micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) actors in the Women Farmer Group (KWT) Amanah, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The program focused on introducing a simple digital financial recording system using Google Form and Google Spreadsheet. The method employed was a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving 32 participants consisting of KWT members and village representatives. The implementation included three stages: preparation, execution through interactive counseling and hands-on training, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test instruments. The evaluation was based on several constructs, including financial recording behavior, digital readiness, perceived usefulness, financial self-efficacy, and user satisfaction. The results indicate that participants had a basic understanding of financial recording prior to the program but lacked consistency in practice. After the intervention, there was a significant improvement in financial self-efficacy, with an average score of 4.00, indicating increased confidence in managing financial records. However, perceived usefulness related to ease of use remained relatively low (2.00–3.00), suggesting that participants were still in the early stage of technology adoption. Overall, the program was moderately to highly successful in improving participants’ understanding and readiness toward digital financial management. The findings highlight the importance of continuous assistance to strengthen technical skills and ensure sustainable implementation of digital systems in community-based enterprises.

Abstract

Digital transformation in Indonesia’s education sector has driven an increase in the use of digital learning media by educators, which has significantly influenced changes in information-seeking patterns to support learning activities. The purpose of this study is to analyze teachers’ information-seeking behavior regarding the use of digital learning media at SMP Negeri 25 in Padang. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method with a sample of 46 participants selected through total sampling. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire designed based on the Marchionini model, namely understanding, plan and execution, and evaluation and use. Data were analyzed using frequency distributions and mean score calculations with the aid of SPSS. The results indicate that the “understanding” aspect of information seeking was very high, with a mean score of 3.33. The “plan and execution” aspect was in the high category, with a score of 3.11. Meanwhile, the “evaluation and use” aspect regarding information utilization was in the very high category, with a score of 3.29. These results indicate that, in general, teachers’ information-seeking behavior regarding the use of digital-based learning media at SMP Negeri 25 Kota Padang falls into the high category. However, improvements are still needed in the planning and execution aspects of information seeking to make it more effective, particularly in the ability to formulate keywords

Abstract

The increasing spread of visual hoaxes on Instagram necessitates digital literacy skills for everyone, particularly students who actively use social media, especially Instagram. The purpose of this study is to identify students’ level of digital literacy in detecting visual hoaxes and assessing the credibility and authenticity of visual content. This study employs a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The population consists of 190 students, with a sample of 66 students. Research data were collected via an online questionnaire distributed through Google Forms to students in the Library and Information Science program at Padang State University who enrolled in 2024 and 2025, using simple random sampling. The data were analyzed through validity and reliability tests and descriptive analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics software. The results of the study indicate that students’ digital literacy in detecting visual misinformation on Instagram falls into the “good” category. Students have demonstrated sufficient ability to interpret, analyze, and evaluate visual content by considering context, techniques, and the alignment between text and visuals; they are also capable of effectively searching for, evaluating, and managing digital information. This indicates that students possess the awareness and critical skills necessary to assess visual content on social media, thereby aiding them in identifying and avoiding visual hoaxes on Instagram.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of leadership in human resource management through a literature review approach. Article searches were conducted in Google Scholar, Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and DOAJ databases spanning 2015–2025. The selection process followed PRISMA guidelines, resulting in ten articles meeting the inclusion criteria. The analysis was conducted using descriptive narrative analysis, extracting study characteristics, key findings, and research conclusions. The synthesis of results indicates that leadership plays a strategic role in improving the effectiveness of human resource management, both directly and through the mediation of HRM practices and organizational culture. Transformational, ethical, inclusive, and strategic leadership have been shown to increase employee motivation, work engagement, innovative behavior, and performance. In addition, training practices, competency development, flexible HRM policies, and green HRM strengthen the relationship between leadership and organizational outcomes. Several studies indicate that the influence of leadership on performance is indirect and mediated by organizational culture and HRM practices. The integration of effective leadership and appropriate HRM management policies contributes to improved individual and team performance and sustainable organizational success. These findings emphasize the importance of synergy between leadership and HRM strategies to enhance organizational competitiveness across various sectors.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interactive learning media based on ethnoscience integrated with spiritual values for elementary school IPAS learning, as well as to examine its feasibility and effectiveness in improving students’ learning outcomes. However, previous studies on interactive learning media in elementary IPAS tend to focus primarily on technical features without integrating local cultural contexts and spiritual values, resulting in less meaningful learning experiences. Therefore, this study offers a novel approach by integrating ethnoscience and spiritual values into gamified interactive media. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D model, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The participants consisted of 28 fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 27 Banda Aceh. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and learning achievement tests. The findings revealed that the developed media achieved a validity level of 90%, categorized as highly valid. In terms of effectiveness, students’ learning outcomes improved significantly, as indicated by the increase in the average pretest score from 65.00 to 90.18 in the posttest, with an N-Gain score of 0.72 (high category). Furthermore, students’ responses toward the media reached 91.9%, indicating a very positive perception. Therefore, the interactive learning media based on ethnoscience and spiritual values is considered both feasible and effective for use in elementary school IPAS learning.

Abstract

The enactment of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) marks a fundamental transformation of Indonesia’s criminal law system toward a nationally codified framework grounded in corrective, rehabilitative, and restorative justice. The transitional period prior to its full implementation presents challenges for legal higher education institutions, which have traditionally been oriented toward the Wetboek van Strafrecht (WvS). This study analyzes the challenges of integrating the 2023 KUHP into the curriculum and explores adaptation strategies among academic communities. A normative juridical method with conceptual and comparative approaches is employed to examine differences between the old and new Criminal Codes, as well as curriculum policies. The findings reveal three main issues: dualism in teaching materials, the need to reorient lecturers’ understanding of new legal principles, and the limited availability of supporting literature. The integration of the 2023 KUHP requires an integrative curriculum reform and a transformation of legal mindset; therefore, higher education institutions must align their curricula and strengthen academic discourse to prepare graduates who are adaptive to legal developments.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a comic-based flipbook teaching material and to examine its validity, practicality, and  effectiveness in improving elementary  school students’ science process skills. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were 27 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Banda Aceh. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results showed that the developed teaching material achieved a very high level of validity with an  average  score  of  96%,  categorized  as  highly  valid.  During  the implementation  stage,  the  use  of  the  comic-based  flipbook  increased students’ engagement and learning motivation. Furthermore, the evaluation results indicated an improvement in students’ learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 57.4 in the pre-test to 82.4 in the post-test. In   conclusion,  the  comic-based  flipbook  teaching  material  is  valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students’ science process skills and can be used as an innovative alternative learning media in elementary

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan kualitas pelayanan kesehatan melalui penerapan sistem antrean digital berbasis web di UPT Puskesmas Bukit Lawang. Permasalahan yang dihadapi meliputi penggunaan sistem antrean manual berbasis pencatatan buku dan pemanggilan langsung, yang berdampak pada kurang tertibnya antrean, tingginya waktu tunggu pasien, serta minimnya transparansi informasi layanan. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan mencakup tahap observasi lapangan, analisis kebutuhan sistem, perancangan dan implementasi aplikasi, serta evaluasi melalui uji coba penggunaan dan penyebaran kuesioner kepada pengguna. Sistem yang dikembangkan terdiri dari fitur pengelolaan antrean oleh petugas melalui dashboard serta tampilan informasi antrean yang dapat diakses pasien secara langsung melalui layar display. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada aspek keteraturan antrean, efisiensi waktu pelayanan, transparansi informasi, serta kemudahan dalam pelaksanaan tugas oleh petugas. Selain itu, waktu tunggu pasien mengalami penurunan yang cukup berarti, dan mayoritas pengguna memberikan respon positif terhadap penerapan sistem. Kendala yang muncul, seperti keterbatasan kemampuan teknologi dan gangguan jaringan, dapat diatasi melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan. Dengan demikian, penerapan sistem antrean digital berbasis web terbukti mampu meningkatkan mutu pelayanan kesehatan serta berpotensi untuk diterapkan pada fasilitas kesehatan lainnya

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the peer education method in improving tuberculosis knowledge among high school students. The problem addressed in this research was the limited understanding of tuberculosis among adolescents, which may influence prevention behavior and awareness. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one group pretest–posttest design. The research was conducted in February 2025 at a senior high school, involving 112 students selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that measured students’ knowledge before and after the educational intervention. The intervention was delivered through peer education, where trained students provided health education sessions, group discussions, and interactive learning activities to their classmates. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis to describe respondent characteristics and comparative analysis to examine changes in knowledge levels before and after the intervention. The results showed that students’ knowledge improved after receiving peer education, indicating that this method helped students better understand information related to tuberculosis. The study concludes that peer education is an effective approach for increasing adolescents’ health knowledge because it encourages active participation, comfortable communication, and better information acceptance among students.
