Abstract

This development research is motivated by the obstacles faced by deaf students in accessing literary references. The availability of references is important in the continuity of learning so that the competence of literary subjects can be achieved. This study also aims to support the Learning Innovation Program and Assistive Technology (Assistive Technology) for Students with Special Needs designed by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. Through the development procedure, this service activity produces a product in the form of the Litera Disa Website. A website that contains teaching materials that are deaf-friendly, contains literary materials and examples of their application. Both content and product specifications have gone through the stages of expert assessment and testing to users. With the Litera Disa Website that can be accessed and transmitted via mobile devices, it is hoped that deaf students who study literature can be helped in understanding literary subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlations between parental social support for children with autism and the social interaction of children with autism at SLB N Surakarta. This research is a correlational quantitative study. The subjects of the research were 31 parents who have children aged 7-20 years. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. Data collection technique using Likert scale instruments, consisting of a social support instrument and a social interaction instrument. The social support questionnaire used was a  based on the theory of Wangi & Budisetyani (2020), which has 4 aspects and was developed into 40 statement items. The reliability test of the instrument used Cronbach’s Alpha, yielding a correlation coefficient of 0.837. The social interaction questionnaire based on the theory of Syahrial Syarbaini and Rudiyanta (as cited in Setyawan, 2016), which has 2 aspects and was developed into 40 statement items. The Cronbach’s Alpha reliability test on the social interaction instrument yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.905. The research results were analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation test, yielding a calculated r-value of 0.618, with a significance level of p (0.000) < p (0.05), which means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a strong correlation between parental social support for children with autism and the social interaction of children with autism.

Abstract

Based on previous research and preliminary studies that have been carried out by researchers, to assist teachers in teaching beginning reading and for students in addition to beginning reading practice, researchers are interested in developing learning media combined with the beginning reading method, namely the syllabic method. This media is named "BASUKA Learning Media (read syllables)" which is a website-based application for beginning reading for slow learner students. This media is designed according to the initial reading stages and characteristics of slow learner children. This study aims to describe the feasibility of BASUKA (Read Syllable) media. The research was conducted in 2 Elementary Schools Providing Inclusion Education, namely SDN Rambutan 01 and SDN Susukan 01. This research uses a research and development (R&D) approach with the Borg and Gall procedure. The subjects at the testing stage in small-scale trials were 8 Slow Learner students and a large-scale trial sample of 20 Slow Learner students. The results of the study were concluded as follows: 1) Syllabic Reading learning media (BASUKA) is needed in learning to read the beginning of Slow Learner students in inclusive education provider schools 2) Development procedures include: a) Making application designs; b) Compile a guidebook; c) BASUKA Media Development. 3) Product feasibility results on expert validation, small-scale trials, and large-scale trials have been declared feasible. 4) Effectiveness test results.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learning motivation in science for mentally retarded students on learning outcomes in schools providing inclusive education. This research technique uses quantitative research. The research subjects were teachers at the School of Inclusive Education in Surakarta City. The results of data processing and statistical testing obtained a significance value (Sig) of 0.031. Thus, the value of Sig. 0.031 < probability 0.05, thus H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. It can be concluded that "there is an influence of learning motivation on student learning outcomes".

Abstract

The development of paradigms in education has implications for practices that take place in almost all lines of education, both formal education institutions and informal education institutions, including in special schools. One of the lessons conducted in SLB is the teaching of Braille letters starting from basic Braille teaching, to expert level Braille. In its teaching, especially the teaching of basic Braille writing, tends to use repetition in its teaching. Repetition is intended to reinforce students with visual impairments in mastering the codes in Braille. In this article, the contribution of Thorndike's theory in teaching Braille alphabet letters to students with visual impairments will be explained. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, with interview data collection techniques and analyzed descriptively. The results of the research that has been conducted show that Thorndike's Theory has a great contribution in teaching basic Braille letters for students with visual impairments because in teaching it uses repetition in writing the dot codes of the Braille alphabet letters. The repetition aims to make students with visual impairments master the dot codes in the Braille alphabet.

Abstract

This article explores the importance of implementing Gagne’s Theory in learning for children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Children with ADHD often struggle with maintaining focus, processing information efficiently, and retaining knowledge, making it crucial to adopt structured and adaptive learning approaches to support their educational needs. Gagne’s Theory, known for its systematic and sequential instructional principles, provides an effective framework for enhancing the learning experience of children with ADHD. This article outlines key principles of Gagne’s Theory and examines how they can be practically applied in learning environments to accommodate the unique challenges faced by children with ADHD. By implementing clear learning objectives, structured instruction, engaging stimuli, and reinforcement strategies, educators can create a more inclusive and supportive learning experience that helps ADHD students maximize their potential. The application of Gagne’s principles not only enhances academic achievement but also supports the development of self-regulation and cognitive skills, enabling children with ADHD to overcome learning barriers and thrive in educational settings.

This study aims to determine the implementation of tidy up bed skills assessment that will be used in the preparation of vocational learning program for students with intellectual disabilities at high grade in Special School. The research method used in this research is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. A variety of tehcniques are used to gathered information. Interviews, observations and documentation study are used to assess specific abilities related to a performance of skills. The steps taken in conducting the assessment are; preparation, implementation, analysis of assessment results, and communicating assessment results to whom it may concern. The instrumens of assessment are consists of aspects (1) tools knowledge, (2) the sequence steps of tidy up bed, (3) clear up tools, (4) maintenance process. The obstacle has been faced  is the teachers difficuties in analyzing and interpreting the results of the assessment. The results showed that some  students had basic abilities in simulating the work of tidy up bed , such as; prepare tools, tidy up bed, and maintaining clean bed and some others students didn’t shown the abilities to do  these steps. The results of the assessment explain the basic abilities of students and later  can be used as a reference to develop a learning program for tidy up bed skills

Abstract

Students with hearing loss are included among children with special needs.  Students with hearing loss are people with mild to severe hearing impairments. This study aims to determine the effect of body mapping media on the ability to recognize body parts in fourth-grade students with hearing loss at SLB YRTRW Surakarta in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study is a quantitative pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest research design. This data collection technique uses an action test obtained through observation. The validity technique in this study uses content validity which is calculated using Aiken's V formula. The reliability test in this study uses interrater reliability using the ICC calculation. The data that has been collected was analyzed using a non-parametric test in the form of the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The results of this study include the results of the assessment of the action test of the ability to recognize body parts of fourth-grade students with hearing loss. The average pretest score was 54.92, while the posttest score was 82.12. This study concludes that body mapping media affects the ability to recognize body parts in fourth-grade students with hearing loss at SLB YRTRW Surakarta in the 2024/2025 academic year.
