Abstract

Ngemplak Village, Kartasura has agricultural potential, craft UMKM, and dynamic religious life, but the learning process in the Al-Qur'an Education Park (TPA) is still monotonous, learning media is limited, and attention to the health of residents is not optimal. The Field Work Practice Program for Community Service and Empowerment (PKLPP) of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta was designed to answer these problems with a six-week participatory action approach. The stages of the activity include regional portraits and needs analysis, program planning with partners, preparation of modules and measuring instruments, and tiered implementation—Qur'an reading assistance, creative literacy workshops for lapbooks, calligraphy coloring competitions, to social health services and distribution of basic necessities. As a result, the participation of TPA students increased by ±40%, 30 lapbooks were created as permanent learning media in the mosque library, and 42 children were involved in a calligraphy competition that increased appreciation of Islamic art. In addition, 40 residents received free health checks, while 50 packages of basic necessities and organic vegetables were distributed to underprivileged families. Interviews with community leaders showed growing trust in students as facilitators and the emergence of sustainable ideas in the form of digital Quran classes, family literacy clinics, and healthy snack UMKM training. These findings confirm that student-community synergy can strengthen Quranic literacy capacity, children's creativity, and social-health concerns in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This article explores the implementation of the Field Work Practice and Community Service Program (PKL-P) conducted at the Muhammadiyah Sub-Branch Leadership (PRM) in Jayengan. The initiative was structured around two primary objectives: first, to equip university students with meaningful hands-on experience in applying Muhammadiyah’s core values within the social fabric of the community; and second, to foster their proactive engagement in developing and empowering the PRM Jayengan society through community-based and locally responsive programs. Using a qualitative approach, the implementation involved participatory observation, in-depth interviews with PRM officials and local community figures, as well as detailed documentation of activities as data sources. The primary focus was directed at revitalizing religious learning activities and enhancing the quality of Qur’anic education provided at the local TPA (Qur’anic Learning Center). The findings indicate that student participants were not only successful in recognizing key challenges and opportunities within the community, but also in launching impactful service initiatives. These included greater congregation involvement in regular Islamic study sessions and the improved organization of TPA educational activities. Furthermore, the program played a significant role in cultivating a shared awareness of PRM’s importance as a community-guiding institution. In conclusion, the Muhammadiyah PKL-P program at PRM Jayengan offered transformative learning for students while simultaneously reinforcing the mission of Islamic propagation and community empowerment within the Muhammadiyah network.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the concept of the soul in Islamic thought through comparative, critical, and analytical approaches. The research focuses on four main objectives: (1) to explain the fundamental concept of the soul based on primary Islamic sources (the Qur’an and Hadith), (2) to compare the perspectives of prominent Islamic thinkers such as Ibn Sina, al-Ghazali, and Ibn ‘Arabi, (3) to analyze the differences between Islamic and Western approaches to understanding the soul, and (4) to offer a critique and propose a reconstruction of the concept of the soul relevant to contemporary contexts. This research employs a qualitative-descriptive method with a library research approach and content analysis techniques of classical and modern works. The findings reveal that the Islamic concept of the soul encompasses integrated spiritual, moral, and psychological dimensions, in contrast to the Western approach, which tends to be secular and materialistic. Furthermore, there are methodological differences among the philosophical, Sufi, and theological approaches in Islam, each offering a unique contribution to the understanding of the soul. The study concludes that reconstructing the Islamic concept of the soul requires integrating classical intellectual traditions with modern-day needs, particularly in addressing spiritual crises and mental health issues. Thus, the Islamic perspective on the soul offers a holistic alternative for character development and spiritual formation in human life.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the linkage between cash and expenditure management mechanisms in the central and regional governments, particularly in relation to efforts to address idle cash in public finance. The research employs a qualitative approach, based on the consideration that the complexity of fiscal issues cannot be sufficiently explained through quantitative methods alone, but requires an in-depth exploration of processes, policies, and inter-agency synergies. The findings indicate that the central government has implemented cash and expenditure management in accordance with the mandates of the State Finance Law and the State Treasury Law. The measures undertaken include the implementation of a treasury single account, improvements to revenue and expenditure systems, cash planning, prudent fund placement, as well as the development of innovations to optimize cash management. In addition, a treasury dealing room has been established to monitor, analyze, and provide recommendations regarding cash inflows and outflows from the State General Cash Account (RKUN), thereby ensuring liquidity is maintained and idle cash minimized. This study contributes to the literature on public cash management by emphasizing the importance of integrating central and regional mechanisms. Practically, the findings provide insights for policymakers on the need for cross-institutional synergy and the utilization of coordinative forums to safeguard fiscal stability. Thus, cash management strategies can function not only as administrative instruments but also as strategic tools in supporting national development.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has brought significant changes to the patterns of political participation in society. In this context, Civic Education (PKn) plays an essential role in fostering civic technology skills (Civic Tech Skills) to enable citizens to participate actively and responsibly in digital spaces. This study employs a qualitative approach by analyzing various literature sources and relevant social phenomena. The findings show that Civic Education not only provides political knowledge but also nurtures critical thinking, democratic values, and practical skills for digital interaction, particularly through social media. By integrating civic values with technological utilization, this education helps the younger generation express their aspirations, engage in political discussions, and contribute to building an inclusive and adaptive society in response to contemporary developments. Therefore, Civic Education serves as a vital means of shaping digital citizens who are intelligent, ethical, and ready to face the challenges of democracy in the digital era.

Abstract

Amidst rising intolerance, moral decline, low social solidarity, and a national identity crisis, reforming Civics Education (PKn) has become an urgent need to restore the nation's identity based on the values of Pancasila. PKn aims not only to instill an understanding of laws and norms, but also to develop character, integrity, responsibility, and social empathy. This renewal process involves innovations in orientation, methods, and learning practices that are more contextual and interactive, and capable of increasing social awareness and active student involvement in national life. There is a close relationship between the revitalization of Civics and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) because both share the same goal: building a peaceful, just, inclusive, and sustainable society. Civics plays a crucial role in helping achieve several SDG goals, such as quality education, reducing inequality, addressing climate change, and strengthening global peace and cooperation. Through an approach that emphasizes civic engagement, Civics encourages students not only to understand their rights and obligations but also to actively participate in social, political, and environmental issues. The choice of the theme of revitalizing Civics (PKn) to increase civic engagement in the SDGs movement is based on the challenge of declining community participation, especially among the younger generation, who are becoming indifferent to national issues. Furthermore, the development of digitalization has changed moral values and nationalism, so Civics must adapt to create critical and responsible digital citizens. With the revitalization of Civics based on the values of Pancasila and the spirit of the SDGs, education can function as a transformative force in shaping a generation of quality, critical thinkers, empathizers, and committed to peace and social justice both at the national and global levels.

Abstract

Along with the rapid adoption of social media, the digital space has become a new arena for social interaction, particularly among Indonesian youth. However, this development has also brought serious challenges, one of which is the phenomenon of hate speech. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of digital citizenship and the patterns of hate speech dissemination on social media, focusing on a case study among adolescents. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with several teenagers, online participatory observation, and content analysis of conversations on social media platforms. The results of the study show that the patterns of hate speech dissemination among adolescents vary, ranging from discriminatory comments, identity-based mockery, to cyberbullying. These patterns are often driven by psychological and social factors, such as anonymity, peer pressure, lack of understanding of digital ethics, and the influence of provocative viral content. The study also found a gap between adolescents’ theoretical understanding of digital citizenship and their daily practices on social media. They tend to perceive the digital space as a consequence-free arena, which reduces their sense of moral responsibility. Thus, this research concludes that the phenomenon of hate speech among adolescents is not merely a technical issue but a reflection of the challenges in building a substantive awareness of digital citizenship. The implication is that a holistic approach involving formal education, parental roles, and platform regulation is needed to equip teenagers with strong digital literacy and a responsible expression ethic.
