Abstract

This study aim of this study is to find out how effective the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model of physics learning tools is to improve students' Science Process Skills. The learning tools developed include: (a) syllabus, (b) lesson plans, (c) student books, (d) worksheets, and (e) assessment sheets. This type of research is Research Design that aims to develop learning tools. The research design used was a one-group pretest-posttest design. The learning device developed has been tested on class XI students of SMA An-Nidhomiyah Pamekasan in the odd semester of the 2016-2017 school year on the concept of Elasticity of Materials. The research parameter measured was the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning model of physics learning tools to improve students' Science Process Skills. The instruments used to collect data in this study include Affective Observation Sheets, Product Cognitive Learning Outcomes Test Instruments, Process Cognitive Learning Outcomes Test Instruments, Psychomotor Observation Instruments, Student Response Questionnaire Instruments. The results of the research that have been carried out show that (a) the learning tools developed are effectively used to improve students' Science Process Skills, (b) the product cognitive learning outcomes and students' cognitive processes have increased significantly, and (c) students provide a positive response to the learning that has been implemented. So it can be concluded that the learning tools developed to meet the criteria of effectiveness so that the learning tools are effective for improving students' science process skills.

Abstract

This research was conducted to look at the differences between the contextual approach assisted by teaching aids and the scientific approach to creative thinking skills. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study was all students of class X SMA Negeri 5 Palu. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling with the research sample being class X MIPA 5 as the experimental group 1 and class X MIPA 6 as the experimental group 2. The instrument for students' creative thinking skills was in the form of an essay test that had been validated through construction validity. The test of students' creative thinking skills obtained showed that the average score of the experimental group was 50.65%. Where this result is lower than the control group, which is 52.79%. Hypothesis test T-test (two parties), obtained t_count = -1.21 and t_0.975 = 2.02 at the level of significance = 0.05. This means that the value of t_count is in the reception area of ​​H_0. It is concluded that there is no difference between the contextual approach assisted by teaching aids and the scientific approach to creative thinking skills

Abstract

This research is quantitative descriptive. This study aims to describe the implementation of the scientific approach in physics subjects according to the perceptions of state high school students in Palu City. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire given to 102 students spread across 4 public high schools in Palu City. The results of this study indicate that the scientific approach as a whole has been implemented with an average value of 80.44 and the respondents who stated that the scientific approach has been implemented were obtained by 77.45% and based on the categorization of the statement items it was included in the implemented category but from the five phases: observing, asking, trying, associating and communicating in their respective applications also still have shortcomings that need to be improved.

Abstract

The research aims to produce a comic of physics experiments based on local wisdom. The research uses the development of 4D models, which begins with defining the material, designing the media until it becomes a product. Once it becomes a product it is then validated by material experts and media experts. Comics that have been validated by some experts are then revised by researchers about the advice given by validators. To create this comic, researchers used Photoshop and Coreldraw X7 applications. This experimental comic is designed so that students can conduct simple experiments outside the school independently on temperature and heat material, in addition, this comic features the icon of Palu city along with the story that develops on the icon. The subject of the research trial of the feasibility of this physics experiment comic is the students of class VII junior high school Lab school Palu. The average score obtained is 3.71 with excellent category. The results showed that this experimental comic can be used as a medium of learning.

Abstract

This study uses a qualitative and quantitative approach that aims to identify misconceptions and provide remedial teaching to students of SMA Negeri 1 Parigi Tengah. The subjects of this study were students of class X IPA 1 and IPA 2 which consisted of 40 students. The data collection instrument used was reasoned multiple choice and 15 items of interviews accompanied by CRI to determine the level of confidence of the research subjects in answering the questions. After identifying the misconceptions, students who experience misconceptions are given remedial teaching before being given the same test accompanied by interviews with students who experience changes or increases in knowledge. The results obtained when identifying misconceptions are 26.83% of students who have misconceptions, 31.30% of students do not understand the concept, and 41.83% of students who understand the concept. After remedial teaching, students who experienced misconceptions decreased to 13.5%, students who did not understand concepts to 12.67% and students who understood concepts increased to 73.83%. This shows that the provision of remedial teaching is very useful in overcoming student problems in learning where there are still many students who find it difficult to conceptualize physics concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the understanding of prospective physics teacher students in interpreting graphs on the concept of thermodynamics. Respondents in this study consisted of 18 students of third-semester physics teacher candidates, Physics Education Study Program, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. The instrument used is an essay test that consists of 6 questions. The data obtained were analyzed through a descriptive-qualitative approach by referring to the results of the answers using the Thinking-aloud method and student interviews with questions in interpreting graphs on the concept of thermodynamics. The results showed that the understanding of prospective physics teacher students was still relatively low with an average percentage of 24.53%. Student understanding is measured by 3 descriptors, the ability to translate descriptors is in a low category, namely 42.36%, the ability to interpret descriptors is in the very low category of 27.77% while the predictor ability descriptors are also very low at 3.47%. In general, prospective physics teacher students are still lacking in understanding graphs on thermodynamic concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a correlation between students' attitudes towards physics learning outcomes in class X Lab School UNTAD students. This research is a descriptive research, the approach used in this research is a quantitative approach, and analyzed with statistics and the results are described. Respondents in this study were students of class X MIA B SMA Lab School UNTAD. The instrument used was a questionnaire on student attitudes in learning physics which amounted to 48 numbers with 34 positive statements and 14 negative statements and for the learning outcomes instrument using an objective test of 25 numbers. The results of the correlation analysis for each aspect of the attitude have a positive relationship with the value of r = 0.360. The contribution of students' attitudes is indicated by the coefficient of determination of 12.96%, while the rest is influenced by other factors that are not the object of research. Based on the results of the research analysis, it can be concluded that the relationship between each variable of students' attitudes in learning physics with learning outcomes in physics is significant and the direction is positive.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship between student learning attitudes and problem-solving abilities in Physics at MAN 2 Palu. This research is qualitative descriptive research. The population is all students of class XI MAN 2 Palu Academic Year 2020/2021 with a sample of 38 students. The instruments used are questionnaire tests in learning physics and essays on physics problem-solving ability tests. The results of the prerequisite test results of the research are that all aspects and indicators of Student Attitudes are normally and linearly distributed and based on the feasibility test indicate that all data are eligible for regression and correlation tests. The results of the analysis of the regression test and the correlation test obtained values ​​that were varied, insignificant, and significant. Based on the results of the research analysis, it can be concluded that the relationship between each indicator of student attitudes towards solving physics problems is four indicators that are not significant and only one indicator of student attitudes is significant. Based on the results of the regression test, correlation, and determination test, it can be concluded: 1. Students' attitudes in learning physics have an effect on physics problem-solving ability but the effect is small. While the attitude in studying physics does not affect the ability to solve physics problems. 2. The relationship between attitudes in learning physics to problem-solving abilities in physics, there is a relationship between aspects of learning physics and problem-solving abilities in physics. While the attitude in studying physics there is no relationship. 3. The contribution of students' learning attitudes to physics problem-solving abilities is 12.96%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interpretation of class XI MIA 1 students at SMA Negeri 3 Palu on numerical graphs on GLB and GLBB material. This study used a qualitative descriptive method which was carried out on students of class XI MIA 1 SMA Negeri 3 Palu. Sampling was done by means of purposive sampling/consideration. The data in this study were collected through observation, written tests in the form of descriptions, and interviews. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of data analysis, there are several difficulties when interpreting graphs, namely: (1) interpreting a combination of several numerical graphs, (2) interpreting numerical graphs by connecting graphs with physical concepts, (3) interpreting the acceleration of objects on a velocity versus time graph, (4) interprets an object that moves backward until it stops but the line graph goes up, (5) determines the motion of an object on a numerical graph of two objects in one numerical graph.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study with the purpose of describing the understanding of physics concepts through study from home visits during the Covid-19 pandemic and knowing the factors that influence students' understanding of physics concepts. The subjects of this study were class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Dampelas who collected 10 students and selected 6 students through purposive sampling technique as respondents to be analyzed and interviewed, each of which 2 students were categorized as high, medium and low. The research instrument used in testing the understanding of physics concepts which includes 3 questions about simple aircraft material, knowledge to determine the factors that influence understanding of physics concepts and interview guidelines to confirm the statement of answers to the physics concept understanding test. The results of the study of the three physics concept indicators obtained an average percentage for the translation indicator (Translation) of 76,0% with a good interpretation, the assessment indicator (Interpretation) of 82,0% with a very good interpretation and the extrapolation indicator (Extrapolation) of 82,0% with a very good interpretation. From the three indicators of concept understanding, it can be said that the level of understanding of physical concepts has a good level of understanding. While the results of the questionnaire analysis to determine the factors that influence the understanding of physics concepts for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Dampelas, namely internal factors including learning motivation of 70,0% are in the sufficient category, study habits of 72.5% are in the good category and student psychology of 72.5% are in the good category. External factors include the learning model of 71.2% in the sufficient category, 79.2% of school facilities and infrastructure in the very good category, the family environment of 69,0 % in the poor category and the community environment of 70.6% being in the sufficient category. So it can be said that these factors are sufficient to influence students' understanding of physics concepts through study from home visits during the Covid-19 pandemic.
