Abstract

The secularization of education is a global phenomenon that has influenced the Indonesian education system, characterized by the separation of religious values from the process of developing knowledge. This condition has resulted in educational practices that emphasize cognitive and technical aspects, while ignoring spiritual, moral, and ethical dimensions. This article aims to analyze the concept of the Islamization of knowledge as an alternative educational paradigm capable of addressing the challenges of secularization. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method of various relevant primary and secondary sources, such as books, journal articles, and educational policy documents. The results of the study indicate that the Islamization of knowledge is not intended as a rejection of modern science, but rather as an integrative effort to place knowledge within the framework of monotheistic values. This concept emphasizes the unity of knowledge, faith, and good deeds, so that education not only produces individuals who are intellectually intelligent but also have character and are morally responsible. In the context of Indonesian education, the Islamization of knowledge has the potential to become a philosophical foundation in curriculum development, learning processes, and national education goals that align with the religious values of Indonesian society. Thus, the Islamization of knowledge can be understood as a conceptual and practical solution to address the secularization of education, as well as an effort to build a holistic and civilized education system.

Abstract

Ibn Khaldun's thought is one of the important foundations in classical Islamic social and educational studies that remains relevant to the modern context. Ibn Khaldun, through his work Muqaddimah, introduced the concept of social reality as dynamic, historical, and influenced by human interactions in society. This study aims to analyze Ibn Khaldun's thoughts on social reality and examine their relevance in the development of modern Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method, namely examining Ibn Khaldun's main works and contemporary literature discussing his thoughts in the social and educational fields. The results show that the concept of 'ashabiyyah, education based on social experience, and the close relationship between science and societal reality are Ibn Khaldun's main ideas that are highly contextual to the challenges of modern Islamic education. Islamic education today is not only oriented towards the transfer of normative knowledge, but must be able to shape social awareness, collective character, and students' adaptive abilities to social change. The relevance of Ibn Khaldun's thought is seen in the importance of integrating Islamic values, social reality, and a contextual and transformative educational approach. Thus, Ibn Khaldun's thoughts can serve as a philosophical foundation for formulating modern Islamic education that is responsive to social dynamics without losing its Islamic identity.

Abstract

Low numeracy achievement among Phase A students in the decimal number system remains a serious problem in elementary mathematics learning, particularly regarding difficulties in understanding place value (positional value), marked by high misconceptions in reading, comparing, and performing basic operations on decimal numbers. This study aims to analyze the difficulties in understanding positional value numeracy among Phase A students in the decimal number system. The method used is descriptive literature review by examining 50 relevant scientific sources, including national and international journals, official reports from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek), and previous research findings on numeracy, decimal numbers, and elementary mathematics learning. The review results indicate that 65-75% of Phase A students experience systematic misconceptions in decimal place value concepts, particularly in the form of whole number bias, decimal comparison errors, and inaccuracies in basic addition and subtraction operations. These difficulties are influenced by the integration of cognitive factors such as whole number interference and overconfidence, social factors like low family numeracy literacy and post-pandemic learning loss impacts, as well as instructional factors involving minimal use of visual media and limited practice time. This study confirms that understanding decimal positional value in Phase A requires a diagnostic, contextual, and locally cultured learning approach through the utilization of manipulatives, ethnopedagogy, and formative assessment.
