Al-Jabiri: Jurnal Ilmiah Studi Islam merupakan jurnal yang dihasilkan oleh para akademisi, sarjana, dan peneliti yang tertarik untuk mempelajari berbagai aspek Islam dari perspektif akademis dan ilmiah. Jurnal ini memuat artikel-artikel yang berisi hasil penelitian, pemikiran, dan diskusi tentang berbagai topik yang berkaitan dengan agama Islam. Beberapa topik yang dibahas dalam jurnal ini meliputi sejarah Islam, teologi, hukum Islam, filsafat, sosiologi, dan antropologi Islam. Jurnal ini juga membahas masalah-masalah kontemporer dalam dunia Islam, seperti radikalisme, terorisme, dan ekstremisme. Al Jabiri memiliki standar akademik yang tinggi, dengan proses seleksi artikel yang ketat dan melibatkan para ahli di bidangnya. Jurnal ini juga diterbitkan dalam berbagai bahasa untuk memudahkan akses bagi pembaca dari berbagai negara. Al-Jabiri: Jurnal Ilmiah Studi Islam terbit sejak bulan Februari 2022 tepatnya sejak perilisan Volume 1, Nomor 1, Tahun 2022 dan terbit 2 kali dalam satu tahun. Dewan Redaksi mengundang penulis untuk mengirimkan naskah terbaik yang akan diterbitkan dalam Jurnal ini. Jurnal ini dikelola secara profesional oleh tim DAS Institute. Saat ini jurnal Al-Jabiri: Jurnal Ilmiah Studi Islam telah terindeks oleh beberapa mesin pengindeks seperti: Crossref, Moraref, Google Scholar dll. Editorial menerima artikel dalam bahasa Indonesia maupun bahasa English (Bilingual). Setiap artikel yang masuk akan dibaca oleh tim editorial. Artikel yang dievaluasi oleh editor dan dianggap tidak sesuai dengan kriteria jurnal akan ditolak tanpa tinjauan eksternal. Artikel yang kami nilai berpotensi menarik bagi pembaca dikirim ke peer reviewer. Setelah dilakukan review naskah oleh reviewer, naskah akan dikembalikan kepada penulis untuk direvisi. Abstract

This article discusses the construction of KH. Hasyim Asy’ari’s Islamic educational thought in Adab al-‘Alim wa al-Muta‘allim and its influence on the scholarly ethics of santri in pesantren. This study is based on the issue of declining attention to adab in the educational process, especially when learning is often directed mainly toward academic achievement, grades, and formal competencies. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research. The primary source of this study is Adab al-‘Alim wa al-Muta‘allim, while secondary sources include books, journal articles, and previous studies discussing KH. Hasyim Asy’ari’s thought, pesantren education, and Islamic scholarly ethics. The data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis and conceptual interpretation. The findings show that KH. Hasyim Asy’ari’s educational thought places adab as the main foundation in the pursuit of knowledge. Knowledge is not understood merely as information, but as a moral trust that must be preserved through sincere intention, respect for teachers, seriousness in learning, humility, and responsibility in its application. In the pesantren context, these values contribute to the formation of santri’s scholarly ethics through the teaching of classical texts, the exemplary role of kiai or ustaz, daily habituation, and a learning culture that emphasizes respect for knowledge. This article argues that Adab al-‘Alim wa al-Muta‘allim is not only relevant as a book of ethics, but also as an important foundation of Islamic educational thought for strengthening santri’s scholarly ethics amid the challenges of modern education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Pondok Pesantren Nadhratul Ulum in preserving and developing Islam Nusantara through the scholarly traditions of the santri, as well as how the pesantren adapts to social, political, and technological changes. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and case study, this research collects data through in-depth interviews with pesantren leaders, teachers, students, and alumni, as well as observations of the educational processes at the pesantren. The main findings of the study show that this pesantren successfully preserves the identity of Islam Nusantara through the teaching of kitab kuning (traditional Islamic texts) that link Islamic teachings with local Indonesian culture. In addition, Pondok Pesantren Nadhratul Ulum also demonstrates adaptation to the changing times by utilizing technology in learning, while still maintaining traditional teaching methods such as halaqah (study circles). The study also highlights that the integration of technology is done carefully to support the learning process without compromising the direct interaction between teachers and students, which is considered the core of pesantren education. These findings provide insights into how pesantren in Indonesia can adapt to globalization and modernity without losing the essence of the traditions that have existed. This research is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of the role of pesantren in contemporary Islamic education, particularly in the context of Islam Nusantara.

Abstract

This study is based on the limited number of studies that specifically examine the relationship between traditional pesantren pedagogical methods and the development of digital technology in the learning of tafsir texts. Previous studies have generally discussed sorogan and bandongan as classical pesantren learning methods, or addressed the digitalization of Islamic education in a broader context. However, few studies have explored how these two aspects intersect in the practice of learning Tafsir Jalalain. This study aims to analyze the transformation of the sorogan and bandongan methods in the teaching of Tafsir Jalalain at Pondok Pesantren Nawwir Quluubana, Sukorejo, Wonosobo. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews with the pesantren leader, female teachers, and students, as well as documentation of learning activities. The findings show that sorogan and bandongan remain the main methods in classical text learning. The transformation does not occur in the fundamental values of pesantren education, but in the way students prepare for and review lessons through digital media, such as digital kitab, online dictionaries, recorded lectures, and communication groups. The findings also indicate that technology functions as a supporting tool, not as a replacement for teacher authority. The theoretical contribution of this study is to offer an understanding that the transformation of pesantren pedagogy in the digital era should be viewed as a process of selective adaptation, namely preserving the core of the Islamic scholarly tradition while utilizing technology in a limited and purposeful manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the construction of students’ Arabic literacy through kitab kuning learning in the pesantren environment. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted in three Islamic boarding schools: Nawwir Qulubana Islamic Boarding School, Safinnatun Naja Islamic Boarding School, and Nadhrotul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that students’ Arabic literacy is formed through a gradual and repetitive process influenced by the learning culture of each pesantren. At Nawwir Qulubana, students’ literacy is developed through regular participation in kitab kuning learning activities. At Safinnatun Naja, literacy is strengthened through the understanding of nahwu and sharaf rules. Meanwhile, at Nadhrotul Ulum, literacy develops through discussion and peer learning among students. The methods of bandongan, sorogan, halaqah, and discussion play an important role in shaping students’ ability to read, understand, and interpret classical Arabic texts. This study concludes that kitab kuning learning is not only a pesantren scholarly tradition, but also a living literacy practice that contributes to the development of students’ Arabic language competence in a deeper way.
