Abstract

Social media significantly influences the formation of the ideal body image. The discrepancy between the ideal body image and the current body reality causes adolescents to experience body dissatisfaction. However, the extent to which the impact of the pressure of the sociocultural model will depend on the individual's self-esteem. The study aims to determine the role of the intensity of Instagram use on body dissatisfaction in female adolescents in Denpasar, which is moderated by self-esteem. Sampling was carried out using a two-stage cluster sampling technique. The subjects in this study were 110 young women aged 10-22 years in Denpasar. The measurement tools used are Instagram Usage Intensity Scale, Self-Esteem Scale, and Body Dissatisfaction Scale. The results of the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) test show a parameter coefficient value of 1,791 with a significance of 0.004 (p <0.05), meaning that the intensity of Instagram use plays a significant role in body dissatisfaction. The coefficient value of the self-esteem moderation parameter is -0.012 with a significance of 0.039 ( p <0.05), meaning that self-esteem weakens the relationship between the intensity of Instagram use and body dissatisfaction. The coefficient of determination (R2) in this study was 0.392, meaning that the intensity of using Instagram and self-esteem played a role of 39.2% in body dissatisfaction. The results of this study can provide a general description of the role of the intensity of Instagram use on body dissatisfaction which can be moderated by self-esteem.

Abstract

The flight training process at APIB is not an easy task. Cadets will be exposed to situations that test their physical, mental, and psychosocial limits. Good psychosocial adjustment enables cadets to cope with the pressure and stress that arise, maintain emotional balance, boost motivation, and build positive interpersonal relationships with instructors and fellow cadets. However, at API Banyuwangi, there is a lack of counselors available to provide psychological support and emotional guidance to the cadets. This research aims to investigate the importance of counselor presence in enhancing the psychosocial adjustment of cadets at API Banyuwangi during the flight training process. This research used a quantitative approach with data collection through questionnaires administered to pilot cadets at the Banyuwangi Flight Academy. The results of the study indicate that the presence of counselors at API Banyuwangi has a significant impact on the psychosocial adjustment of cadets. Counselors serve as empathetic listeners, providing emotional support, practical advice, and career guidance that help cadets overcome the psychological pressures and challenges of intensive flight training. A strong positive correlation between the role of counselors and the psychosocial adjustment of cadets is revealed through linear regression analysis, marked by high t-statistic values and very low levels of significance (p < 0.001).

Abstract

This quantitative research aims to investigate the influential role of self-dependence and mood-related factors on students' commitment within an educational context. Employing purposive sampling, 41 individuals from distinct classes in a Jakarta school were deliberately selected to ensure a diverse representation of the student population. Through meticulous collection of three primary variables, each comprising two indicators and analysis using SEM-PLS in SmartPLS 4, the study aims to offer a nuanced analysis of these aspects. The research findings reveal significant positive correlations between self-dependence attributes (with confidence and initiative as indicators) and mood (with good perception and good thoughts as indicators) on students' commitment levels. Fostering self-reliance, proactive learning behaviors, and a positive emotional environment emerges as crucial in enhancing students' commitment to their academic pursuits. The implications suggest the importance of targeted interventions and programs within educational institutions to fortify self-dependence and cultivate positive emotional climates, thus augmenting students' commitment and academic success.

Abstract

This qualitative study looks into the connection between Indonesian teenage stress levels and social media use. During semi-structured interviews with Indonesian teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18, several themes surfaced that demonstrated the complex relationship between social media and teenage wellbeing. Social media platforms facilitate social contact, but they also include stresses like social comparison, FOMO, and cyberbullying, as reported by participants. Social media is a source of both connection and stress. Teenagers use a variety of coping mechanisms, such as placing limits on their use of social media, going offline, practicing mindfulness, and asking for social support. Addressing social media-induced stress in Indonesian teenagers requires culturally sensitive methods that take into account local norms and beliefs. The results highlight the significance of encouraging digital literacy, creating safe spaces, and giving teenagers the tools they need to use social media appropriately. Policies and interventions to encourage positive mental health outcomes in the digital era can be devised by comprehending the complexity of social media's impact on teenage well-being.
