Abstract

Adolescent mental health is increasingly recognized as a critical public health concern, with childhood trauma, sleep quality, and mental health disorders playing significant roles in shaping psychosocial well-being. This study employs a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with adolescents and mental health professionals to explore the interconnections among adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), sleep disturbances, anxiety, depression, self-harm behaviors, and smoking. Thematic analysis reveals that childhood trauma is a major predictor of mental health disorders, leading to increased social withdrawal and maladaptive coping strategies. Sleep disturbances further aggravate emotional dysregulation, reinforcing cycles of anxiety and depressive symptoms. Additionally, adolescents engage in self-harm and smoking as mechanisms for temporary relief from psychological distress. Mental health professionals emphasize the need for evidence-based interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and school-based mental health programs. The findings highlight the urgent need for holistic, multi-sectoral interventions integrating family, educational institutions, and healthcare systems to support adolescent mental health. Future research should focus on the long-term effects of interventions and the potential of digital mental health solutions in mitigating adolescent distress. These insights contribute to the ongoing discourse on improving adolescent mental health policies and intervention frameworks.

Abstract

Job interviews are critical in determining candidates' employment success, with self-awareness playing a significant role in interview performance. This study explores the influence of self-awareness on successful and unsuccessful job interview candidates through a qualitative case study approach. In-depth interviews were conducted with ten participants—five successful and five unsuccessful job candidates—to analyze their preparation strategies, self-reflection, and communication techniques. Thematic analysis revealed that successful candidates exhibited a higher level of self-awareness, enabling them to confidently articulate their skills, address weaknesses constructively, and adapt to interview dynamics. Conversely, unsuccessful candidates displayed lower self-awareness, leading to difficulties in self-expression, ineffective communication, and a lack of structured responses. The findings underscore the necessity of incorporating self-awareness training in job preparation programs to improve employability outcomes. This study contributes to the growing discourse on emotional intelligence and career readiness by emphasizing self-awareness as a pivotal factor in professional success. Future research should examine the effectiveness of self-awareness interventions across various career sectors to determine their broader applicability.

Abstract

Work-life balance is a critical factor influencing employee well-being, job satisfaction, and workforce retention. This study explores the systemic challenges associated with work-life balance, particularly in high-pressure professions such as healthcare. A systematic literature review was conducted using Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed to analyze research related to work-life balance, occupational stress, and employee support systems. The findings reveal a strong correlation between institutional policies, organizational culture, and the prevalence of burnout, with gender disparities playing a significant role in work-life integration challenges. Empirical evidence highlights that professionals in developed nations benefit from structured workplace policies, while employees in developing regions face more significant work-life conflicts due to limited institutional support. Organizational flexibility, mental health resources, and gender-equitable policies emerge as crucial factors in mitigating these challenges. Addressing work-life balance requires strategic interventions, including promoting workplace flexibility, enhancing mental health initiatives, and fostering cultural shifts that support work-life integration. This study underscores the necessity for continued research on long-term policy effectiveness and the impact of emerging workplace technologies on work-life balance. By implementing structured and inclusive policies, organizations can create a sustainable and productive workforce that benefits both employees and institutions.

Abstract

Bullying among adolescents remains a pervasive global issue with significant psychological, social, and academic consequences. This study examines the role of self-esteem, social support, and systemic factors in influencing bullying behaviors. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed, with studies selected based on inclusion criteria focusing on bullying prevalence, intervention strategies, and mental health outcomes. The findings indicate that strong social networks and high self-esteem serve as protective factors against both victimization and perpetration. Additionally, school climate and cultural influences play crucial roles in shaping bullying dynamics. Restorative practices and social-emotional learning (SEL) programs have shown promise in reducing bullying incidents, particularly when integrated into school curricula and community-based initiatives. However, geographical and socioeconomic disparities affect the accessibility and effectiveness of these interventions. This study underscores the need for targeted policies, including teacher training, parental engagement, and digital literacy programs, to combat traditional and cyberbullying effectively. Future research should explore longitudinal impacts of bullying interventions and their adaptability across different cultural and economic contexts. Addressing these gaps will contribute to the creation of safer educational environments and improved adolescent mental health outcomes.

Abstract

The impact of working conditions on employee mental health and organizational commitment has gained increasing attention in occupational health research. This study examines how job stress, burnout, and workplace support influence employee well-being and retention. Using a narrative review approach, literature was sourced from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and PsycINFO to ensure comprehensive coverage of recent empirical findings. The results highlight the detrimental effects of high job stress and burnout on employee satisfaction and commitment, particularly in the healthcare sector. Organizational support and a positive psychosocial climate are identified as essential factors in mitigating workplace stress and enhancing job retention. Comparative analysis across regions reveals significant variations in how employees experience and respond to job stress, influenced by workplace culture and managerial practices. Systemic interventions, including leadership development, psychological support mechanisms, and work-life balance policies, have demonstrated efficacy in reducing burnout and improving organizational commitment. These findings underscore the necessity for organizations to implement evidence-based strategies that enhance employee well-being. The study concludes that addressing workplace mental health requires a comprehensive approach that incorporates managerial, systemic, and policy-level interventions. Future research should focus on long-term organizational reforms and the integration of emerging technologies in stress management to foster sustainable workforce engagement.

Abstract

Humor has been widely recognized as a critical coping strategy that enhances psychological well-being by alleviating stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. This study provides a comprehensive narrative review of existing literature on the role of humor in mental health, particularly in high-stress environments such as healthcare, caregiving, and social adaptation. A systematic literature search was conducted across PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and CINAHL, focusing on peer-reviewed studies examining humor-based interventions, social support, and coping mechanisms. Findings indicate that humor positively impacts emotional resilience, workplace stress reduction, and patient care experiences. Healthcare workers, caregivers, and marginalized populations benefit significantly from humor’s psychological effects, particularly when combined with strong social support. However, systemic barriers such as mental health stigma, cultural variations, and economic constraints limit the widespread adoption of humor as an intervention strategy. Addressing these challenges requires tailored humor-based programs, workplace well-being policies, and culturally adaptive approaches. This review underscores the need for future research exploring humor’s long-term effectiveness and digital applications in mental health interventions. A greater emphasis on policy-driven initiatives can facilitate the integration of humor into clinical and community-based settings, ultimately improving psychological well-being across diverse populations.

Abstract

Loneliness and social isolation have gained increasing attention as significant public health concerns, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study explores the psychological, social, and demographic dimensions of loneliness, emphasizing its impact on mental health and well-being. A systematic literature review was conducted using multiple academic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. The findings confirm that loneliness is strongly associated with depression, anxiety, and psychological distress, with young women and older adults being particularly vulnerable. Digital technology has played a dual role, offering both social support and, in some cases, reinforcing social disconnection. Regional disparities highlight that economic insecurity and limited healthcare access further exacerbate social isolation in developing nations. The discussion emphasizes the importance of targeted policy interventions, including community-based programs, mental health integration into primary healthcare, and public awareness campaigns. Technology should be used strategically to enhance social connectivity rather than replace face-to-face interactions. The study identifies key research gaps, such as the need for longitudinal studies to assess the long-term impact of loneliness and intervention effectiveness. Future research should explore the intersection of loneliness with socioeconomic determinants to develop holistic, evidence-based strategies for mitigating its effects. Addressing loneliness requires a multifaceted, collaborative approach integrating social, economic, and technological solutions to enhance overall well-being.

Abstract

Social media has become a dominant force in shaping body image perceptions, particularly among adolescents and young adults. This study explores the relationship between social media exposure and body dissatisfaction, emphasizing the influence of unrealistic beauty standards. Using a systematic literature review, key themes such as social comparison, cultural norms, and mental health were identified as critical factors in body image perception. Findings reveal that over 60% of individuals who engage with social media report heightened concerns about their appearance, often leading to anxiety, self-esteem issues, and disordered eating behaviors. The role of systemic influences, including peer interactions, media representation, and public policies, further exacerbates these concerns. The study underscores the urgent need for interventions such as media literacy education, stricter content regulations, and the promotion of diverse body representations. Future research should focus on the long-term psychological effects of social media exposure and cross-cultural variations in body image perception. These insights will be crucial in developing comprehensive policies and support systems that foster healthier body image perspectives. Addressing body dissatisfaction requires a multi-disciplinary approach integrating education, policy-making, and psychological support to mitigate the negative impact of digital media on self-perception.

Abstract

Sibling relationships significantly influence children's cognitive, social, and emotional development, yet the complexity of these interactions requires further exploration. This study conducts a comprehensive review of existing literature to examine the role of sibling dynamics in shaping adaptive behaviors, emotional regulation, and social competence. A systematic search was performed across databases including Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed, utilizing keywords such as "sibling relationships," "child development," and "social-emotional growth." Inclusion criteria focused on empirical studies published within the last decade, while exclusion criteria eliminated non-empirical sources and studies outside the domains of psychology and education. Findings reveal that sibling interactions provide essential learning environments, fostering problem-solving skills, emotional resilience, and social adaptability. However, these relationships are influenced by factors such as birth order, parental involvement, socio-economic conditions, and cultural context. While positive sibling interactions enhance developmental outcomes, challenges such as rivalry and unequal parental attention pose risks. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions, including educational programs, parental guidance strategies, and policy-driven support structures to optimize sibling relationships. These findings underscore the importance of integrating sibling dynamics into broader developmental research and policy frameworks. Future studies should explore the impact of sibling loss and disability on child development and consider cross-cultural longitudinal studies to refine intervention strategies. Addressing these gaps will contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of sibling influence and inform policies that foster healthier developmental outcomes.

Abstract

Parental involvement in pediatric healthcare decision-making plays a crucial role in shaping child health outcomes. This study explores the impact of communication, emotional support, and systemic factors on parental engagement, drawing from a comprehensive literature review. A systematic search was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria to identify relevant studies. The results reveal that effective communication between parents and healthcare providers significantly enhances parental confidence and participation. Emotional stress and sociocultural dynamics, however, present substantial barriers to decision-making. Findings indicate that while structured family-centered care models have been effective in high-resource settings, parents in low-resource environments often face systemic inequities limiting their ability to engage fully in medical decisions. To address these barriers, policy interventions must promote inclusive and culturally sensitive healthcare frameworks that facilitate shared decision-making. Training programs for healthcare professionals should incorporate strategies to improve parent-provider communication and support parental mental health during high-stress medical scenarios. Future research should focus on evaluating the long-term impact of parental involvement and exploring technological interventions to bridge gaps in healthcare accessibility. By fostering stronger partnerships between parents and healthcare systems, this study underscores the importance of parental engagement in achieving improved pediatric health outcomes and ensuring equitable healthcare access.
