Abstract

This research aims to describe students’ mathematics conceptual understanding understanding with topics exponential considered of the intensity of using quipper video. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Subjects in this study were randomly selected one for the category of high intensity, one medium intensity, and one low intensity. The data collection techniques by giving intensity questionnaires use quipper video, understanding concept tests, and interviews then through three stages of data analysis, namely data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that understanding mathematical concepts: (1) Subjects with high intensity of using quipper video were unable to understand the concept in indicators apply concepts or algorithms to problem solving. (2) Subjects with medium intensity of using quipper video are able to restate the concept, classify objects according to certain characteristics in accordance with the concept, use and utilize certain procedures or operations, apply concepts or algorithms to problem solving, provide examples and not examples, present concepts in various mathematical representations, and develop necessary requirements or sufficient requirements from a concept.(3) subject with low intensity of using quipper video did not understand the concept in indicator restating the concept, , provide examples and not examples,and develop necessary requirements or sufficient requirements from a concept.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the students' difficulties in solving straight-line equations in terms of anxiety in learning mathematics in class VIII SMP. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative research. There are three students who are the subject of this study, namely one student with high anxiety, one student with moderate anxiety, and one student with low anxiety. The results showed that subjects with high anxiety (SKT) had more difficulty in solving questions and needed a relatively long time to solve problems. Subjects of moderate anxiety (SKS) had little difficulty in applying concepts and more difficulties in applying principles and difficulties in solving verbal problems and took a long time to solve problems. The subject of low anxiety (SKR), has no difficulty in understanding concepts, applying principles, and has no difficulty in solving verbal problems but requires a relatively long time in solving questions. The results of this study are expected to add insight and minimize students' difficulties in solving straight line equations

Abstract

The kind of this research is pre experiment research that aims to find out the effectiveness of Wheel Plane Media With Think Talk Write on The Topic of Triangle and Square of Grade VII Students of SMP. The effectiveness of learning can be seen from the results of students’ learning achievement, students’ activities, and students’ responses after the implementation of learning. This research was conducted in SMP with experimental unit consisting of grade VII students of SMP for giving treatment with the design of the research is one group pretest posttest design. The number of this research was 30 students. This research was carried out during 7 meetings which consist of 1 meeting of the pretest, 1 meeting of the posttest and 5 meetings of mathematics learning by using wheel plane media with Think Talk Write model. Data of students’ activities that related to cooperative skills and the teachers’ activities in the learning process have 1 observer that is the teacher of the class. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistical analysis to describe the students’ learning achievement, students’ activities, teacher’s activities in teaching process and students’ responses. There was a significantly increase of students’ learning achievement after implementation of wheel plane media wiyh Think Talk Write model on triangle and square material. From the results of this research it can be concluded that wheel plane media with Think Talk Write model of grade VII students of SMP in effective category.

Abstract

This study aims to know the description of students' error in solving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) mathematical problems and the description of errors differences of geometry based on Hadar criteria. This type of research is descriptive research using qualitative approach. Retrieval of the subject is performed by providing prior knowledge test of grade XII MIPA 3 , then from the result of thetest selected 6 subjects based on existing categories. The instrument used in this research are prior knowledge test which contains 30 number of multiple choices, written tests of Higher Order Thinking Skills which contains 2 number of essay and interview guidelines. Errors are analyzed by using the Hadar error category which consists of 6 errors. The results of this research show that based on the Hadar error criteria, errors that occur are misused data, misinterpreted language, logically in valid inference, distorted theorem or definition, unverified solution, and technical error. Subjects who solving HOTS mathematics problem of geometry tend to make logically invalid inference, distorted definition or theorem, and technical errors. The results of this research are expected to add insight about the types of errors made by the students of senior high school in geometry topic, especially in solving higher order thinking skills problems so that the mistakes can be immediately minimized in the process of learning.

Abstract

This research aim to analyze student ability of student's proportional reasoning in solving mathematics on circle topic. Two students from grade IX were selected as in term results of math pre-requisite ability test. then, proportional reasoning test was given to subject and interview related to it. The results show that (1) all subjects complete indicator in additive thinking ability, (2) all subjects complete multiplicative thinking ability, (3) second subject only which complete indicator in ability to use a reasonable or appropriate ratio while first subject not complete this indicator, (4) all subject not complete indicator in ability to build a unit structure (grouping), (5) all subject not complete indicator in ability to understand invariance

Abstract

This study aims to describe the pedagogical content knowledge of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department students of FMIPA with indicators of mastery knowledge, pedagogy knowledge, and subject knowledge related to their students. The subjects of this study were students of the Mathematics Department FMIPA UNM. This type of research is a quantitative and qualitative approach (Mix Method). Data was collected by giving pedagogical content knowledge test questions to 45 subjects and conducting semi-structured interviews to 2 randomly selected subjects. After obtaining information related to the subject's PCK level category, an analysis of the answers provided by the subject to describe the reasons the subject obtained the intended PCK level. The results showed that there were no students who obtained high levels of PCK.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and produce learning media using powtoon animation applications that are valid, practical and effective. This research model refers to a ADDIE development model that includes 5 stages namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Research instrument in the form of validation sheets by experts to measure validity aspect; teacher activity observation sheet in managing class to measure practicality aspect; student activity observation sheet, responses, and tests to measure effectiveness aspect. Respondents for the learning media trial are students of class VIII SMP which consists of 27 students. The results showed that the learning media satisfies validity criteria based on the assessment by experts. The learning media satisfies practicality criteria based on the result of teacher activity observation are categorized as good. The learning media satisfies effective criteria based on the result of students activity observation are categorized as very good, students response are categorized as very good, and the percentage of classical completeness from student learning outcomes test reached 85%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the errors made by the students in solving mathematics word problems of arithmetic sequences and series. This research type is qualitative descriptive. Subject this research is students of SMA Negeri in Makassar grade XIth MIPA 4. Respondents of this research are selected based on the analysis of the test data observed from the error location based on polya steps as much as 3 students. The guidelines used to perform the analysis of types of errors are the troubleshooting Polya steps. Data collection techniques using the method of test and interview then through the three stages of data analysis, namely the condensation of data, presentation of data, and withdrawal conclusion. The results of the research obtained that in understanding the problem polya step the students do fact error type, in devising a plan polya step students doing the concept error type, in the step of polya carrying out the plan students perform the type of error operation and principle, in the step of polya looking back students do the kind of error principle. The results show that the errors that dominant students do that in the step of polya understanding the problem with this type of errors of fact and in the step of polya correcting back to the type of error principle. This is due to the ability of students in understanding the symbols on the row material and the arithmetic progression is still lacking, students are not accustomed to correcting back answers obtained, and students are not accustomed to write down the final conclusion.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine effect of self efficacy, emotional intelegence, and learning motivation on Student’s mathematics Learning achievement of grade XI IPA of SMA at Makassar. This research is ex post facto research which is causality with research sample counted 132 students from class XI IPA SMA at Makassar selected by using random sampling. Technique of collecting data using instrument: (1) questionnaire of self efficacy, (2) questionnaire of emotional intelegence, (3) questionnaire of learning motivation, and (4) test result of mathematics learning. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with path analysis. The result of the research shows that: (1) the student's self efficacy is in the high category, (2) the student's emotional intelegence is in the high category, (3) the student's learning motivation is in the high category, (4) student’s mathematics learning achievement in the medium category, (5) student’s self efficacy directly effect on student’s mathematics learning achievement, (6) student’s emotional intelegence directly effect on student’s mathematics learning achievement, (7) student’s learning motivation directly effect student’s mathematics learning achievement, (8) student’s self efficacy indirectly effect on student’s mathematics learning achievement through variable learning motivation , (9) student’s emotional intelegence indirectly effect on student’s mathematics learning achievement through variable learning motivation.

Abstract

The research type was an Quasi-experimental which involved two groups with different treatment. Objectives of this research were to know the differences in the improvement of students mathematics learning outcomes between the application of Realistic Mathematics Education approach and the application of Contextual Teaching and Learning approach. The population in this research was grade VII one of the Junior High School in Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi and two experiment classes are selected by random technique as research sample. Data analysis by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The result was obtained there are not the different in the improvement of students mathematics learning outcomes between the application of RME approach and the application of CTL approach.
