Abstract

ABSTRACT                Food consumption pattern  of  Tionghoa ethnic is  affected by  cultur factor  that has existed among generations. The family in choose the daily food menu. This study is a descriptive survey in order to the food consumption pattern and nutritional status of the ethnic Tionghoa family at kelurahan Asam Kumbang Kecamatan Medan Selayang. The population in this study are all ethnic Tionghoa  family at Kelurahan Asam Kumbang Kecamatan Medan Selayang that is 104 families. The sample is a portion of the population that is 51 Families. Data collection forms using diet Food List and Food Frequency. Nutritional status data obtained by weighing and measuring the height            The results showed that every day ( always ) ethnic Tionghoa families eat rice, meat and vegetables but fruits not every day. Good energy consumption of ethnic Tionghoa families can see from 78.4 % consume adequate energy ( ≥AKEK ) and for protein consumption 96.1 % consume adequate protein (≥AKPK). Father to be a priority in the distribution of food. ethnic Tionghoa families food with high value is pork. Ethnic Tionghoa families Food tabo is beef. Nutritional status of the family are in the normal category               Based on this research, it is expected distribution of food in the family based on nutritional needs, important to have menu cycle so that the food well-organized terms kind of food, frequency of food and the amount of food nor variation of food.   Keywords: food consumption patterns, Tionghoa ethnic, nutritional status of family

Abstract

The complimentary feeding can ensure the nutrient a baby requires in appropriate amounts for his growth and development. The complimentary feeding which is made of the mixed of rice flour, banana and catfish can fulfill baby’s nutrition need.  The aim of this research is to measure the proteins and energy contents of rice powder, awak bananas and catfish as a mixed complimentary food. This is an experimental research on mixed complimentary feeding of rice flour, awak bananas, and catfish. Its protein content was determined by Kjedahl method and the energy content was determined by calculating the protein, fat and carbohidrate. The result of this research showed that mixed complimentary feeding of rice powder, awak bananas, and catfish as its, serves 17,9 gram of protein, 400,8 Kkal of energy. The characteristic of mixed complimentary food of rice flour, bananas, and catfish has spesific scent, sweet flavour and smooth texture. The mixed complimentary feeding of rice flour, bananas, and catfish as its ingredients and ready to eat meals has already met the standart made by Indonesian Health Department 2007which makes it adequate as a good complimentary feeding for a 6-12-month baby. It is sugested to feed this kind of complimentary feeding to a baby as it can complete 100% protein and 50% energy needs of babies. Abstract

Currently, Indonesia is facing double nutritional problems, namely lack of nutrition and over nutrition. Over nutrition is considered as the early signal of the coming of degeneratif disease such as Coronary Heart Disease. The attempt efforts to overcome and to prevent Coronary Heart Disease is by regulating food consumption pattern especially by controlling the fat supplied by the food consumed. The purpose of this study was to find out the between the food consumption patternand the level of total blood cholesterol in Civil Servants in the regional Office of Directorate General of Treasury, the Province of Sumatera Utara, Medan  with cross-sectional design. The primary data for this study were obtained by distributing questionaires containing food consumption, characteristic, total blood cholesterol, measurement of Civil Servants. The secondary data were obtained from general description of the regional Office of Directorate General of Treasury, the Province of Sumatera Utara, Medan. The correlation between the food consumption pattern and the level of cholesterol was descriptively analyzed through Exact-Fisher statistic test at α = 0.05. The result of this study showed that most of the Civil servants often consumed aminal food (1-3 times a week) such as eggs, chicken, beef/mutton, ampele, shrimp/squid/crab and other food containing fat such as fried and coconut-milk contained food. The average total blood cholesterol was 120.8 mg/dl, most of the energy consumed by the Civil Servants was good (80%) and there was no correlation between energy consumption and the level of total blood cholesterol (p=0.768). fat energy consumption was higher (75%), therefore, there was a significant correlation between fat energy consumption and the level of total blood cholesterol (p=0.001), between saturated fatty acid intake and the level of blood cholesterol (p=0.002), and between unsaturated fatty acid intake and the level of total blood cholesterol (p=0.001). The Civil Servants are suggested to control their consumption pattern by reducing to consumed fat and controling the frequncy or eating fat and cholesterol containing food.   Keywords : Food Consumption Patterns, Total Blood Cholesterol Level, Civil Servant

Abstract

The technological development make a change of public behavior and life style like food pattern unsuited with the body necessity and less activity until having an effect on improve the diabetes mellitus case. The objective of this research to know the food pattern of diabetes mellitus at Puskesmas Kotanopan Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. This study adopted descriptive survey with design method in cross sectional. The sample on the research known in total sampling involved 60 patients with diabetes mellitus as out-patient. The data used such as primary and secondary data. Primary data was taken by interview with questionnaire, in food recall and food frequency forms. Secondary data was taken from Puskesmas, such as general description and data of patient with diabetes mellitus. In research the characteristics of patient mostly aged 50-64 years old, female. In taken carbohydrate, protein and fat is certainty exceeding standard rate namely as recommended carbohydrate 48.4 %, protein 40,0 % and fat 61,7 % respectively. The meal time of those patient diabetes mellitus should more than 3 hours. Recommended to health care improve of service the information to patient with diabetes mellitus so as to more discipline admission of food pattern, and to the patient with diabetes mellitus so as comply food pattern as requested, so that they can develop good habits and focused on the health living. Abstract

Nutrient is one of main determinant factors for the quality of human resources.  The needs of  food can be seen not only from its portion, but also from the  quality of  nutrient substances found in the food consumed.  The fulfillment of nutrient substance for pregnant mother are influenced by some factors and one of the factors is knowledge of the mother.     This research was intended to know the  knowledge of pregnant mother of first trisemester about nutrient and eating pattern for the fulfillment of nutrient.  This research used descriptive design and sampling techniques used total sampling. Data collection was carried out in September 2013 using questionnaire consisting of 2 parts, namely first part  contained the demography data and   second part contained the questionnaire about the knwoledge of the pregnant mother of first trisemester  in the  fulfillment of nutrient.  The  data on eating pattern was taken from the interview using  food recall, then analyzed using  frequency distribution table and the total respondents was for 54.                       The results of research showed that mostly the   knowledge of respondents were with medium knowledge for 24  respondents (44.4%), and the least were with good knowledge for 14 respondents  (25.9%).  Energy  intake less of  38.9% with moderate knowledge , whereas  good knowledge of 3.7% with good energy intake. Protein intake less of 22.2% with moderate knowledge, whereas good knowledge of 1.9% with sufficient protein intake.       Based on the reuslts of research, need for increased knowledgeand information to the first trimesterpregnant women about the importanceof a diet that is nutritious and balanced and as preparation for yourself during pregnancy or after childbirth.   Key words : Knowledge of nutrition, food pattern, nutritiont fulfillment, first trismester of pregnant women

Abstract

Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease lung tissues caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Prevalence of TB in 2010, there were 660.000 number of cases pulmonary TB in Indonesia, in North Sumatera there were 15.614 people, in Medan there were 2.152 people suffering from TB. In 2008, there were 1.276 people suffering from TB at Deli Serdang Regency. This research used a case-series design and large sample equal to great population that is 205 patient data. The results showed the proportion of people with pulmonary tuberculosis smear positive at pulmonary Poly Regency Hospital in Deli Serdang in 2011-2012, highest is age group 15-54 years (74,6%), male (69,3%), stayed at Deli Serdang regency (91,7%), new case (98,5%), category I (98,5%), supervised by family (81,5%), have sputum conversion at intensive phase (89,8%), have sputum conversion at advanced phase (79%), treatment outcome is cured (79%). The result of statistical analysis on the treatment outcome, there was a significant difference with residence (p=0,011), sputum conversion at intensive phase (p=0,000), and sputum conversion at advanced phase (p=0,000). However, there was no a significant difference with type of patient (p=0,112), category of medicial treatment (p=0,112), and supervised (p=0,370), For families and patient of pulmonary tuberculosis are required to follow the advice of health officials to conduct a re-examination of sputum in order to know how the subsequent treatment process.   Keyword : pulmonary tuberculosis smear positive, characteristic of patient

Abstract

Adolescents are those who are experiencing changes from childhood to adulthood. Psychologically adolescent tend to have a high curiosity and wanting to try new things. Issues of sexuality and reproductive health that is taboo to talk about, makes adolescents tend to want to experiment so teens be at risk on premarital sexual behavior. This research aims to know the factors associated with premarital sexual on young girls who live at the boarding house in Lingkungan V Kelurahan Padang Bulan Kecamatan Medan Baru in 2013. This research has been conducted with cross-sectional a analitic-descriptive. Sampling was done by a systematic random sampling with sample size is 86 young girls. Data were analyzed by chi square test with α 0.05. The results showed that premarital sexual relations conducted by 45 young girls (52,3%) who  having had sexual intercourse before marriage in boarding house,  from 45 young girls who living in the boarding house, it was found that 27 young girls (60,0%)  who did not live with owner boarding house. It was found that the factors associated significantly with premarital sexual are  knowledge (p<0.001), attitudes (p<0.001), resources information exposure (p<0.001), boarding house environment (p<0.001). From the results of the research are expected to headman of Lingkungan V Kelurahan Padang Bulan to improve monitoring, especially teenage don’t have owners live together  to make more explicit regulations, guests must report 1 x 24 hours to prevent the things that are not desired and to the owner who does not particularly boarding house supervised in order to provide a special room for guests.     Key words      : premarital sexual, boarding house, young girls

Abstract

Gunungsitoli Hospital is a government hospital that became a referral centers in Nias Island. Referred to the maternity hospital, there are many who experience delays. Conducted this study in order to determine the factors associated with maternal referral delay to Gunungsitoli Hospital, in Nias Regency. The kind of this research was observational by the collection method of data was cross sectional. Population is all maternal who were referred to Gunungsitoli Hospital. The number of sample was 19 persons and this research used consecutive as technique sampling. It means that the sample were patients who were coming to the hospital when the research was done. The result of the research got that family decision, fund, and geographic did not have a significant relationship with maternal referral delay to Gunungsitoli Hospital. While the birth attendants factor have a significant relationship with maternal referral delay to Gunungsitoli Hospital by p value = 0,005 (<0,05). Competent birth attendants there are 10 people, which is 8 people (80%) is not too late and 2 (20%) were referred late. While birth attendants who are not competent, ie 1 (11.1%) is not too late and 8 (88.9%) were referred late. Advice is mainly health workers midwife or health centers are expected to more concerned about pregnant through antenatal surveillance and maternal and delivery is more sensitive to problems or indications that require immediate action and should be referred to hospital. Region governments are expected to pay more attention to public access to reach the health services and counseling efforts and training of the tradisional healer or shaman.     Keyword :      Family decision, fund, geographic, birth attendants, maternal referral delay, Gunungsitoli Hospital

Abstract

Breakfast is very beneficial for elementary school children to maintain endurance, so  they can have an activity or study well, helping to focus and easily to understand the lesson, as well as to help provide the nutrients. The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between breakfast habbits and nutritional status with academic achievement of elementary school children in SD Negeri 096132 Parapat Kecamatan Girsang Sipangan Bolon Kabupaten Simalungun 2014. This study is a descriptive survey using Cross sectional study design. Data were collected by interviewing students using questionnaire and a 24-hour food recall. Childrend’s learning achievement data obtained from the value of the monthly report cards of childrens. Nutritional status of children was measured by using body mass index for age (BMI/Age). The chi-square test result showed that there is no correlation between breakfast habbits with learning achievement of childrens (p=0,055), there is no correlation between breakfast habbits with nutritional status of childrens (p=0,056). There was a significant correlation between nutritional status of childrens with learning achievement (p=0,012). The correlation of nutritional status and academic achievement is an indicator of how important to have an attention to the nutritional status of children to increase the ability of  brain and body. Based on the results of the study suggested to the parent’s of children to give more attention to their child nutrition covering the quantity, quality and nutritional value which is contained in food material. If children have a good nutrition it will form a good nutritional status and be able to compete in the world of education. And for the school, it have to monitoring the types of food or snacks which is provided in school cafeteria, so that children will receive a good donation of nutrition from food that eat by them. Abstract

Food secure is an important condition for food that will be consumed by society. Food insecurity can be happen on food processing process call critical point which is if uncontrolled can endanger society.   This research is observational survey with purpose to analize hazards and to know critical points in the making of Chinese Tofu and Sumedang Tofu at Kelurahan Sari Rejo, Kecamatan Medan Polonia. Data collecting done by observation and documentation Tofu making process.   The research result showing the existence of physic contamination such as sand and rotten soybean on Chinese Tofu and just rotten soybean found on Sumedang Tofu. Both of soybean soaking water containing E.coli. Undiscovered E.coli and also Salmonella on tofu. Curd material which is sulphate calcium exceed dose for making Chinese Tofu. Heavy metal (lead, copper, arsenic) at both of the tofu not exceed secure perimeter yet. Formalin positive at both of the tofu. Critical points at the making of Chinese Tofu are on soybean soaking, curd and printing. Critical point found for Sumedang Tofu processing process on soybean soaking.   Base of the observational result, producer expecting to using chemical material accords measuring, do not use harmfull chemical material. Utilizing clean water in production process and paying attention to equipment hygiene that is utilized and material those are utilized may not contaminate product that be endanger consumer.   Keywords: hazard analysis, critical point, Chinese Tofu, Sumedang Tofu, household food industry
