Abstract

Islamic boarding schools, as educational institutions that have an important role in forming the character and morals of students, are required to adopt a fair approach. This is important considering that sexual violence often stems from entrenched gender injustice and inequality. The aim of this article is to answer two central questions: Why does sexual violence occur in Islamic boarding schools? How is sexual violence prevented in Islamic boarding schools? The data collection process includes four stages, starting with the inclusion stage and the exclusion stage. This data was collected through the Google Scholar search engine using the keywords "sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools" and "Inclusive and gender equal education in Islamic boarding schools". The root of the problem of sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools lies in the hierarchical relationship between kiai and santri, the maintenance of patriarchal culture, and the absolute obedience of santri to kiai. These three factors also cause the majority of incidents of sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools to go unreported due to fear among the victims and their families. To overcome this, gender inclusive education is needed which is reflected in the Gender Equality Curriculum (KKG). This curriculum establishes a gender-responsive way of thinking and acting based on gender justice and equality in all elements of the education system. Gender inclusive education also creates a gender neutral learning system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences and similarities between education in simple societies and modern societies, as well as their implications for developing an inclusive education system. Education in simple societies tends to be tradition-based, informal, and oriented toward the practical needs of the community. Meanwhile, education in modern societies is more formal, structured, and technology-based, aiming to create globally competitive human resources. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed to examine two communities as representatives of each category. Data were collected through interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The results of the study show that simple societies emphasize the transmission of cultural values and life skills, while modern societies focus on academic achievement and technological innovation. However, both share the common goal of recognizing the importance of education in building social identity and community sustainability. The study recommends integrating local values from simple societies into modern curricula to create education that is both relevant and contextual.

Abstract

Education is one of the basic human needs that must be met so that humans can be more respected and considered superior compared to people who do not receive education. This is because education has a more important purpose than simply ensuring human survival. Furthermore, education is a component that cannot be separated from a person in any way. Humans undergo a complete education process, which is influenced by their parents, culture, and environment, starting from when they are in the womb to adulthood and old age. To assess how educational democracy can be integrated into the learning process of students enrolled in secondary schools, the purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of doing so. An approach known as a literature study was used in this study. This approach involves collecting data from websites, publications, and journals that can be accessed via the internet. The information is then subjected to qualitative analysis, which involves the use of various methodologies for data analysis during a process consisting of four stages: obtaining data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. As a result of these findings, students are currently not only used as objects of learning, but also used as subjects who are directly involved in the arguments that occur during the learning process. Thus, it is hoped that teachers can provide a democratic learning environment for their students.

Abstract

The aim contained in regional government decentralization is to encourage regional independence in carrying out development in various fields. This is in line with the principle of decentralization, namely the transfer of authority from the Central Government to the Autonomous Regions to manage government affairs in their respective regions. This new managerial approach in government opens up opportunities for wider local community participation, and makes decisions taken by Regional Governments in providing public services more relevant and of better quality. Within the framework of decentralized government, decentralization in education seeks to place decision making closer to the needs of stakeholders. In this way, educational development can be more in line with regional characteristics, and community potential can be maximized. Finally, decentralization of education is expected to improve the quality and competitiveness of human resources.

Abstract

The value system plays a crucial role in shaping the character and independence of students (santri) in Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia. These boarding-based educational institutions not only serve as a place for deepening religious knowledge but also as a medium for developing resilience, discipline, and responsibility. This article aims to explore how value systems are applied in fostering the independence of santri through daily activities, such as congregational prayers, time discipline, maintaining cleanliness, and performing routine tasks. The inculcation of Islamic values is consistently implemented to establish positive habits, develop a sense of responsibility, and instill an independent attitude. On the other hand, the challenges of globalization, including the influence of modern culture and technological advancements, test the relevance of traditional value systems within the Islamic boarding school environment. The findings indicate that the integration of religious and cultural values into the daily lives of santri has a significant impact on shaping their character. With a structured value system, santri not only excel in managing life within the boarding school but are also prepared to face life outside the school environment with responsibility and independence. This study recommends strengthening the synergy between traditional Islamic values and modern educational innovations to ensure the sustainability of character development for santri. In this way, Islamic boarding schools can continue to contribute to producing morally upright generations equipped to face the challenges of modern life.

Its implementation requires the active role of teachers as facilitators, students as learning subjects, and the community as supporters. The development strategy can be done through integrating cultural elements in learning materials, using traditional games, and creating a conducive learning environment. The results show that local culture-based education makes a significant contribution in shaping student character rooted in noble cultural values, as well as being a bulwark in facing the challenges of globalization.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and existence of moral education in efforts to strengthen the supremacy of law in Indonesia in the era of society 5.0. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study examines how moral education can be a foundation in building public legal awareness amidst digital transformation. Data collection was conducted through literature studies, in-depth interviews with education experts, legal practitioners, and policy makers, as well as observations of the implementation of moral education in various educational institutions. The results of the study indicate that moral education has a strategic role in shaping the character and legal awareness of the Indonesian people. In the era of society 5.0, where human interaction is increasingly integrated with digital technology, moral education faces new challenges in transmitting ethical and moral values. The study identified three main aspects: (1) the urgency of revitalizing moral education in the national education curriculum, (2) the importance of synergy between moral education and law enforcement, and (3) adaptation of moral learning methods that are relevant to the characteristics of the digital era. The research findings indicate that strengthening moral education contributes significantly to increasing public legal awareness, which is reflected in the decreasing rate of legal violations among the younger generation. This study recommends the need to develop an integrative moral education model, involving the active role of families, educational institutions, and communities, and utilizing digital technology as an effective learning medium.
