Abstract

Student athletes face the dual pressures of academic and sporting demands, which make them vulnerable to mental health problems. To be able to improve psychological well-being, it is necessary to have a locus of control from within student athletes, so that they are expected to be able to control themselves to carry out healthy living behaviors, so that psychological well-being can increase. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between locus of control, healthy living behaviors, and psychological well-being in student athletes in Indonesia. This study used a quantitative approach and multiple correlation analysis design involving 418 participants from various provinces in Indonesia. This study used 3 scales consisting of, IPC LOC (Internality, Powerful Others, and Chance Locus of Control), The Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II, and the scale of Psychological Well-Being. The result showed a significant relationship between locus of control with psychological well-being (r = 0,758 and sig. = 0,000), and healthy lifestyle behavior with psychological well-being (r = 0,513 and sig. = 0,000). The results obtained found that locus of control and healthy lifestyle behavior have a relationship with the achievement of psychological well-being of student athletes.

Methods: this systematic review protocol adheres to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A systematic search was conducted using the popular databases Scopus, ScienceDirect and PubMed published between 2020 and 2025. The search was conducted on peer reviewed articles written in English, and reported on the condition of pre-competition anxiety on competition performance in young athletes aged 12-18 years who competed in professional events. Result: Of the total 975 publications initially identified, 9 studies met the selection criteria for inclusion in this review. These articles explored the effects of pre-competition anxiety on sports performance across various athletic disciplines. The studies provided insights into varying levels of pre-competition anxiety, different interventions aimed at reducing anxiety, and their subsequent effects on performance outcomes. The findings suggest that pre-competition anxiety can significantly impact performance, with both positive and negative effects depending on the anxiety level and intervention methods employed.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the use of TikTok social media as a supportive tool in understanding the motivations of older adults aged 40-60 years that influence heart rate during line dance exercise. A total of 40 respondents were involved in this study, consisting of 75% women and 25% men. The research method used was qualitative with a survey approach, through a Google Form shared via WhatsApp. Data collection was carried out for two consecutive days at Sanggar Kenanga and Lapangan Saburai, Lampung. The research instrument included five main indicators of elderly participation in line dance exercises. The results showed that 70% of the elderly were familiar with line dancing as a form of physical activity. However, 75% of them admitted to having difficulty following the rhythm of the music while dancing. On the social side, 70% of the elderly invited others to participate, and 80% felt the physical benefits of this activity. Interestingly, 75% of older adults actively seek movement guidance through videos on TikTok. The average motivation of older adults to participate in line dancing was recorded at 74%, categorized as “often”. These findings confirm that TikTok can be an effective medium to promote physical activities that support physical and social health for older adults.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Body Mass Index (BMI) levels and waist circumference of Belly Dance participants at Sanggar Purnama. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method using a total sampling technique, involving 15 active Belly Dance participants. The instruments used included BMI measurements and waist circumference. The results showed that most participants (40%) fell into the obesity category I, 26.67% were overweight, 26.67% were in the normal range, and 6.67% were classified as obesity category II. Regarding waist circumference, 53% of participants were within the normal range, while 47% exceeded the normal threshold for women (>80 cm), indicating central obesity. These findings suggest that although Belly Dance is regularly practiced, not all participants achieved ideal body weight or waist circumference. This highlights the importance of a holistic approach to weight management, incorporating regular physical activity, a balanced diet, and a healthy lifestyle. This study contributes to the understanding of Belly Dance’s effectiveness on body composition and participant health and serves as a foundation for future health intervention strategies.

Abstract

Knowing students’ motor skills is an integral part of an education. This study aims to determine the level of motor ability of students in the Extracurricular of State Junior High School 2 Bringin . This research is a quantitative descriptive research. The method of this research is by test and measurement techniques. The population in this study is all students of State Junior High School 2 Bringin which totals 120 students who were taken based on purposive sampling techniques, with inclusion criteria that have been determined by the researcher. So that the sample in this study amounted to 40 people. The instruments in this study used the Motor Ability Test which included the 4 x 10 meter Shutlle-run test (agility), the 1-meter distance ball throw test with a wall (coordination), the Stork Stand Positional Balance test (balance), the 30-meter sprint test (speed), with a validity value of 0.930 and reliability of 0.870. Data analysis uses descriptive analysis expressed in the form of percentages. The results of this study show that the motor skills of students in the Extracurricular of State Junior High School 2 Bringin are in the good category. This can be seen in the results of the categories “very lacking” by 6.98%, “less” by 30.23%, “sufficient” by 25.58%, “good” by 32.56%, and “very good” by 4.65%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that gross motor skills in extracurricular students have a good level of skills, but there are some students who are still very lacking. So this makes the implication in this study that the role of teachers in providing stimulus in an effort to improve gross motor skills in students is very important, because the provision of motor stimuli to children will make children more active and reduce stunting rates in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the effect of aerobic dance accompanied by traditional and modern music on increasing the cardiovascular endurance of students. The research design used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest group design. The sample consisted of 40 students of Makassar State University who were divided into two groups: an aerobic dance group with traditional South Sulawesi music and an exercise group with popular modern music. The exercise was carried out for six weeks, three times a week, for 45 minutes per session. Data were collected through a multistage test (beep test) to measure VO₂ max and analyzed using parametric statistical tests. The results showed that both groups experienced a significant increase in cardiovascular endurance (p < 0.05). However, a greater increase occurred in the traditional music group (Δ = 3.34) than in the modern music group (Δ = 2.39). These findings indicate that traditional music accompaniment is more effective in increasing cardiovascular endurance and providing added value in the context of preserving local culture.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between gender stereotypes and student participation in physical education subjects at state junior high school 1 Hulu Sungai Tengah. The method used is correlational research with a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of 72 female students in grades 7 to 9, who were selected using the Slovin formula. Data was collected through a closed questionnaire based on the Likert scale, this questionnaire consisted of 35 statements, which included 22 positive statements and 13 negative statements that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship between gender stereotypes and female student participation in physical education subjects, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.463 > a table of 0.229. Strong gender stereotypes contribute to low female participation in certain physical activities, especially big ball games. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the need for teachers to design a more inclusive and gender-sensitive sports learning strategy to increase student involvement in physical education learning subjects so that the lack of student participation can be overcome.
