Abstract

Basic locomotor movement skills are part of fundamental movement skills (FMS), which develop in childhood and form an important foundation for mastering more complex specific motor skills. Basic movement skills that do not develop optimally will have a direct impact on children's ability to participate in more complex floor exercise activities. Therefore, in the context of physical education, especially floor gymnastics activities, the lack of readiness in basic locomotor skills has the potential to hinder the achievement of learning outcomes targeted by the curriculum. This study aims to determine the relationship between basic locomotor skills and learning outcomes in floor gymnastics activities. The method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive method with a correlational technique. The population in this study were students at Public Junior High School 40 Bandung, specifically those in grade VII, with a total of 290 students. The sample in this study used simple random sampling, with samples taken randomly by lottery, namely VII-A, which consisted of 32 students. The instrument used in this study to measure basic locomotor skills was the Test of Gross Motor Development (TGMD-2), while for learning outcomes in floor exercises, the researcher used assessments of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The results of data analysis showed that the correlation coefficient of variable X with Y (rxy) was 0.603, which was categorized as having a strong correlation level, namely in the range of 0.60-0.799. This value also indicated a positive relationship between basic locomotor skills and learning outcomes in floor exercises.

Abstract

The background of the study departs from the finding that learning net games tends to be difficult for students to understand due to its complex techniques and the lack of learning media that are appropriate to the characteristics of elementary school students. This study aims to develop the Vonis game as a physical education learning medium to improve students' learning skills in net games material. This study uses the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results show that the Vonis game is considered very feasible based on validation by material experts, media experts, and design experts. Staged trials involving 4 students in individual tests, 8 students in small group tests, and 16 students in large group tests showed an increase in student understanding, motivation, and engagement in learning. The analysis shows that the Vonis game is able to simplify the net game pattern through a simple field design, easy rally rules, and a safe plastic ball so that it is appropriate to the abilities of elementary school students. The study concludes that the Vonis game is effective as an alternative learning medium in improving the quality of physical education learning, although this study still has limitations related to the number of subjects and the scope of the trial.

Abstract

This research was motivated by children's preference for screen-based games that involve minimal physical activity over games that involve direct physical movement. This condition has contributed to a decline in the physical fitness levels of elementary school aged children. This study aims to assess the effect of traditional games on the physical health of sixth-grade students at Wates 02 Public Elementary School in Semarang City. A one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design was employed in a quantitative study. 28 sixth-grade pupils that were chosen using a saturation sample technique made up the research subjects. The Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) was employed as the research instrument for ages 10 to 12 years. The data were examined descriptively and inferentially using normality, homogeneity, Wilcoxon, and r-square tests. The average physical fitness score of pupils increased from 15.29 in the pretest to 21.89 in the posttest, according to the results. The results of the Wilcoxon test indicated a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results following the installation of traditional games, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the outcomes of the R-squared test suggested that traditional games enhanced students' physical fitness by 50.4%. Based on these results, it can be claimed that the installation of traditional games has a major influence on boosting the physical fitness of sixth-grade students at Wates 02 Public Elementary School in Semarang City.

Abstract

Physical inactivity among adolescents has become an increasingly worrying problem, highlighting the importance of physical education in fostering lifelong active behavior through the development of physical literacy. This study examines the relationship between physical literacy and physical activity levels among junior high school students in the context of school based physical education. A quantitative correlational design was used, involving 60 eighth grade students from a public junior high school in Bandung, Indonesia, who were selected using total sampling techniques. Physical literacy was measured using a validated questionnaire covering motor skills, motivation, knowledge, and self confidence, while physical activity levels were measured using the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents (PAQ-A). The data were analyzed using Pearson's product moment correlation and simple linear regression, after testing for normality and linearity. The results of the analysis showed a positive and statistically significant relationship between physical literacy and physical activity levels (p = 0.006; B = 0.467), indicating that students with higher physical literacy tended to be more active in participating in physical activities. These findings highlight the important role of physical education in developing physical literacy, which in turn contributes to increased participation in physical activity among adolescents. Strengthening physical literacy through structured and meaningful physical education learning is therefore essential for promoting active and sustainable lifestyles among junior high school students.

Abstract

Physical inactivity among adolescents is a growing public health concern that may negatively affect cognitive and motor development. In Indonesia, many children and adolescents do not meet recommended physical activity levels, a situation worsened by sedentary lifestyles and increased screen time. This study aims to analyze the impact of physical activity and social support on the cognitive ability and motor skills of students. The studi uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive quantitative method and an associative causal design (ex post facto). Using the stratified random sample technique, 60 students from Senior High School Bhayangkari Bandung participated in the study. Physical activity was measured using the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents (PAQ-A), social support was measured using the Social Support Scale for Exercise Behavior, cognitive ability was measured using the General Cognitive Assessment Battery (GCAB) based on a computer, and motor skills were measured using the Motorische Basiskompetenzen (MOBAK) level 2 instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis. The research results show that physical activity has a positive and significant impact on cognitive and motor skills, and is the most dominant factor compared to social support. Social support also has a positive and significant impact on cognitive and motor skills, although its contribution is smaller compared to physical activity. Simultaneously, physical activity and social support significantly influence cognitive and motor skills, indicating that both factors contribute together to support the development of learners. Adequate physical activity and social support are important factors that need to be considered in efforts to improve students' cognitive and motor skills.

Abstract

Speed is a crucial physical component in pencak silat, particularly in executing the sickle kick technique, which plays an important role in scoring effectiveness during matches. However, school-age pencak silat athletes often demonstrate limited kick speed due to insufficient specific strength and neuromuscular development. Therefore, training methods that integrate strength development with technical movement specificity are needed to optimize performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of resistance training integrated with the sickle kick technique on increasing the speed of the sickle kick of school-age pencak silat athletes. The study used a quantitative approach with an experimental method through a one-group pretest–posttest design. The subjects consisted of 10 school-age pencak silat athletes who participated in extracurricular pencak silat activities at Muhammadiyah 6 Junior High School Bandung, with a total sampling technique. The treatment was resistance training using a resistance band which was carried out for 14 meetings with a frequency of three times per week. Measurement of the sickle kick speed was carried out by counting the number of kicks executed correctly within 10 seconds towards paching during the pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, and paired samples t-tests at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed an increase in the average value of the sickle kick speed from 15.60 in the pretest to 18.80 in the posttest. The paired samples t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that resistance training significantly increased the speed of the sickle kick in school-age pencak silat athletes. This finding confirms that resistance training based on specific movement techniques is effective in developing the performance of school-age pencak silat athletes.

Abstract

Sports performance development plays a strategic role in improving athlete performance and national competitiveness. In competitive sports, athlete success is determined not only by individual ability but also by the effectiveness of a structured, tiered, and sustainable development system. Tarung Derajat, a traditional Indonesian martial art that has developed into a competitive sport, requires systematic evaluation to ensure continuous improvement, particularly at the provincial level. Central Java is one of the provinces that consistently contributes to the Tarung Derajat national championship. This study aims to evaluate the progress of the development of Central Java Tarung Derajat athletes in the results of the National Championship. The research method used was the evaluation of the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product). This research is a qualitative descriptive research with a survey method. The respondents in this study were administrators, coaches, and athletes from Central Java. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and open questionnaires as well as documentation. The stages of analysis include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study show that in the aspect of  context, the coaching has a clear vision and mission;  input, certified coaches, athletes who have motivation to achieve, and adequate facilities and infrastructure, although funding from National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) is still limited;  process, training programs have been prepared in a planned manner through micro and macro programs and monitoring and evaluation are carried out; product, the athlete's achievement has reached the minimum target set. However, limited funding, athlete training time, and uneven nursery systems are factors that hinder more significant achievements, especially towards the international level. Therefore, the progress of coaching athletes in Central Java is categorized quite well and still needs to strengthen the continuous coaching program.

Abstract

Anxiety is a psychological disorder that can affect the performance of football players in training or competition. This can result in players experiencing anxiety being unable to play as usual and losing focus and self-confidence, causing them to perform poorly during training and competition. This anxiety requires special attention and appropriate treatment because this phase is an important stage in developing players at an early age. This study aims to analyse the training methods used by Ssb Japar Sidik coaches for 10 and 12 year olds in handling and preventing anxiety. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design involving 2 coaches and 8 Ssb Japar Sidik players as research subjects. Data analysis was carried out using Nvivo 12 Pro software to identify patterns and main themes in the research results. The results of this study found that there were 6 main findings in handling and preventing anxiety carried out by Ssb Japar Sidik coaches, namely communication, mental reinforcement, positive psychological environment, mental formation, social support, and special training methods. This research contributes to improving the mental health of young players and developing a structured mental training model for young players in an effort to support football coaching that is oriented towards performance and the psychological well-being of players.

Abstract

Football is a globally popular sport that demands high physical strength, strategy, and technical mastery, particularly in the fundamental skill of passing. At Football Academy HW Temanggung KU-12, initial observations revealed that many young players experienced tactical confusion and technical weaknesses, such as undirected passing and poor ball possession. These issues were largely attributed to static and monotonous training methods that failed to simulate real match conditions. This study aimed to analyze the influence of the Small Side Games (SSG) method on improving football passing accuracy among players in the U-12 category. This research employed a quantitative approach with an experimental pretest-posttest design. The study population consisted of 20 players from Football Academy HW Temanggung KU-12. Data were collected through a standard passing accuracy test before and after a 16-session treatment involving 3 vs 3 to 5 vs 5 game modifications. Data analysis included normality and homogeneity tests, followed by a Paired Sample T-Test to evaluate performance changes.The findings demonstrated a measurable increase in performance, with the average passing accuracy score rising from 17.70 in the pretest to 21.50 in the posttest. Statistical validation showed a calculated T-value of 7.933, which exceeded the T-table value of 1.729, supported by a P-value of 0.000. This intervention resulted in a total percentage increase in passing accuracy of 21.46%. Based on the results, it is concluded that the Small Side Games method provides a substantial boost to the technical proficiency of young athletes. The SSG approach creates a dynamic and contextual environment that allows players to touch the ball more frequently and make quicker decisions. This method is a highly effective tool for coaches to resolve tactical coordination weaknesses and accelerate the development of motor skills in early-age football players.

Abstract

The flick is a complex scoring skill in field hockey, and the sequence of its instruction may influence beginner performance. This study examines how training order affects shooting ability in novice players. 24 novice students from the Physical Education, Health, and Recreation program at Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika took part in a quantitative experiment using a pretest–posttest approach. They were divided into two groups. One group practiced flicks starting from a stationary ball before progressing to a moving ball, while the other group trained in the opposite order. Shooting ability was evaluated using the Bobby Charlton shooting test, and the results were analyzed with paired-sample t-tests. Both groups showed clear improvement after the training program (p < 0.05). However, the players who began with moving-ball flick drills improved more and achieved higher final scores than those who started and stationary ball practice. Overall the findings show that both training approaches can help beginners develop flick shooting skills. Still introducing movement earlier in the training seems to give better results. This suggests that not only the type of exercise but also the sequence in which it is taught plays an important role in building technical shooting skills.
