Abstract

This study aimed to describe students’ interests in the application of Google Classroom (GC) in learning English. The subjects of this study were ten students of the Religious Department who learn English subject. The instruments of data collection were questionnaires and interviews. The data were analyzed by using the theory of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that students’ interest in learning by using online through Google classroom has four aspects include: (1) The students felt happy in learning English using Google Classroom was 60 %; (2) The students had a strong interest in using Google classroom in learning English was 50%; (3) The students gave strong attention in the process of using Google classroom was 40%; and (4) The students actively involved in using google classroom was 50%.

Abstract

Looking at the limited time for people, especially for srudents and looking at so many subjects that must be studied by a student, it seems that students do not have time to study their religious. Meanwhile, references to the teachings of the good character it self are only found in the  students’ religious scriptures. so a wise teacher must be abble to involve the holy kitab  of each student in every material being taught such as Al- Qur’an for Moeslem students’. Because all references can be found in the Al- Qur;an, for instance in surah Al-Kahfi specifically for the language mathery preposition. Al Qur’an  can be used as a media for exercises and also as a media for finding examples of the preposition in grammar matery.

Abstract

This research investigates students' perceptions of using the Webtoon application in the sixth semester of the English Department at State Islamic University Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan. A descriptive quantitative approach was used, with 30 students participating. The results showed that students perceived Webtoon positively for improving reading literacy, with 46.82% agreeing and 15.32% strongly agreeing. Students responded favorably to indicators of absorption, understanding, and evaluation. Webtoon was recognized as an engaging medium that helped solve reading difficulties.

Abstract

Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk melihat dan menganalisis manfaat program “mentoring dan supervision” dalam meningkatkan kinerja dan profesi mengajar dosen di lembaga pengembangan bahasa (P2B) IAIN Padangsidimpuan. Masalah yang diangkat adalah apa manfaat yang diperoleh oleh dosen dengan mengikuti program “mentoring dan supervision” itu, apakah memberikan manfaat yang positif atau tidak. Jenis penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif yang lebih menekankan pada analisis data yang lebih terperinci dalam bentuk penjabaran dan generalisasi. Penelitian ini diadakan di Pusat Pengembangan Bahasa (P2B) Institut Agama Islam Negeri yang terletak di Padangsidimpuan. Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian ini, 20 dosen dari 60 dosen yang mengajar bahasa Inggris dipilih menjadi responden dalam penelitian ini. Adapun instrument yang digunakan dalam pengambilan data adalah angket dan wawancara; angket terdiri atas 15 pertanyaan dan wawancara terdiri atas 5 pertanyaan. Kemudian, data yang diperoleh dianalisis berdasarkan analisis data deskriptif. Akhirnya, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa program “mentoring dan supervision” memberikan manfaat dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris. Adapun manfaat yang diperoleh adalah: (1) memberikan ilmu dan wawasan mengenai teknik dan trik mengajar yang menarik dan menyenangkan, (2) memberikan kesiapan guru dalam mengajar, dan (3) mempererat hubungan social sesama dosen di P2B IAIN Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

Alquran merupakan sumber hukum yang apling utama dalam Agama Islam, karen semua peradaban akhlak yang mengatur kehidupan manusia dalam berinteraksi dengan semua makhluk yaitu manusia dengan manusia, manusia dengan hewan, tumbuhan, benda-benda, alam semesta dan bahkan yang mengatur makhluk dengan Al-Khaliq tertulis dalam alquran. Sebenarnya alquran bisa didefenisikan sebagai kitab atau buku yang berisi perintah, larangan, kabar gembira, peringatan, dan sejarah nabi-nabi yang diturunkan Allah swt. Dan diterima oleh Rasulullah Muhammad Saw dengan perantaraan malaikat jibril, yang sebelum dibukukan. Alquran tertulis dalam berbagai media seperti kulit kayu, batu-batu dan lembaran-lembaran daun, kemudian Rasulullah Sawmemberikan media-media tersebut kepada istri beliau hafsah untuk disimpan rapi dengan penyusunan atau penjelasan yang sesuai dengan perintah langsung dari Rasulullah Saw dan pada zaman untuk di bukukan.

Abstract

The article is aimed to inform that self-assessment optimization through WhatsApp features can Increase the students’ listening comprehension. The action research is used to gain the data. It consists of 4 steps, like planning, acting, developing, and reflecting stage. It conducted for two cycles. The informants of this research come from fourth semester of English Education Program at STAIN Mandailing Natal. The instruments of collecting the data are an interview guide, online questionnaire, Listening script, and field note. Qualitative and quantitative data were analyzed in this analysis. Qualitative data would be collected by observation, interviewing, and surveying. The listening examination will collect quantitative evidence. It will be evaluated using a listening comprehension score calculation. The result of the research showed the increasing on students’ listening comprehension through self-assessment optimization, it can be seen from the students’ scoring in each meeting.

Abstract

Abstract           This research contains an analysis of the methods in translation used in the short story  "Malin Kundang” by Dian K. the writers of the book and the writers derived the method theory from Newmark's view, she listed 8 methods in translation that can be used by all translators how to translate from English (SL) to Indonesian (TL) well and take into consideration to Malin Kundang story. In addition, the writers analyzed the reading text as data in this research by using the Qualitative descriptive Method. The writers make a comparison between the source language text ( SL) and the target language text ( TL) based on the theory of translation method by Peter Newmark and Baker's approach as well from the analysis the writers can explain the translation methods and the equivalent meanings of the translation. In the conclusion, the researcher finds 7 methods used in Malin Kundang's short story by the author. Besides, the researcher finds the equivalent meaning of translation in Malin Kundang's story as well since he also analyzed the equivalent, Which is textual equivalence. It is essential in replacing the message from one language ( SL) with another language (TL) to make the reader understand the reading text well. Keywords: Translation, Translation Method, Translation Equivalence, Short Story

Abstract

This research explores the structure of the human brain and the beginning of a baby's speech. The brain is divided into two hemispheres: the left hemisphere controls language functions, including spoken and written language, and the right hemisphere is responsible for image recognition and visual forms. A baby begins speaking before birth, learning language through words and utterances from their mother. Post-birth, they use crying, babbling, gestures, and emotional expressions. The baby must then go through three stages: pronunciation, vocabulary building, and sentence formation.

Abstract

Reading Comprehension is a mental process when the readers try to understand the meaning in the text by interpreting what have been read in order to find the idea given by the writers. The readers should pay attention for some aspects such as how they understand the words and the information from the text, understanding main ideas and details, and be able to make conclusion. Understanding three phases in reading is important to prepare reading strategies and the purpose of reading; it needs to help the readers understand the text that they read. Further, in understanding paragraph, then readers must also apply the three phases in order to make them able in finding ideas in the paragraph. Understanding paragraph and the phases are done to make the readers able in taking the meaning from the text.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out whether there is the significantt effect on the students’ reading comprehension using snowball throwing. The method of the research was the experimental research design which was quasi experimental design. The population of the study was the first semester English Education Department students of Teacher Training Faculty IAIN Padangsidimpuan academic year 2018/2019, which consisted of 31 classes were 806 students both IAIN Padangsidimpuan and Baharuddin Boarding School center, then 2 classes as the sample. They were Room 11 as the experimental class taught by snowball throwing and 12 as control class taught by the conventional method that was usually used by the lecturer namely Step True False. The instruments of research were between 10 items for matching words to the definition and 10 reading multiple-choice test. The result of this research showed that t-test 0.07 was lower than t-table 2.02 in which t-test t-table. The hypothesis was rejected. In conclusion, it means that there was not a significant effect of applying snowball throwing on the students’ reading comprehension.
