Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate if there is a significant effect of neurolingistics programming method into students’ reading interest. Quantitative research was used to conduct the research by divided students into experimental and control class, who were cluster randomly selected. Both classes were given pre-test and post- test to find out whether there is a significance effect of treatment or not. Questionnaire was used to collect the data. The result of the research showed that students who were taught by neurolinguistics programming method were better than those were taught by habitual teachers’ strategy. It is concluded that neurolinguistics programming method gives a significant effect on students’ reading interest. Neurolinguistics programming method is recommended to English teacher to enhance their students’ interest in reading comprehension. From the result of this research, Neurolinguistics programming method is recommended to English teacher to enhance their students’ interest in reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research is discussing about students’ ability in mastering subordinating conjunction. The aim of this research was to find out the student’ ability in mastering subordinating conjunction at the fourth semester students of English Department IAIN Padangsidimpuan. This research was descriptive quantitative method that was conducted at the fourth semester IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The population of this research was fourth semester students of English department IAIN Padangsidimpuan. This research used 21 students as a sample. They were gotten by random sampling technique. The mean score of the students’ ability in mastering subordinating conjunction was 81.93. The result of this research showed the students ability in mastering subordinating conjunction was very good category.

Abstract

Project based learning is a method that focusing on students centered by using project as the way of practicing knowledge. RELT subject is a subject learnt about research in English framework. This research aim is to know students’ perception of using project based learning in learning RELT subject. The researched also gain the feedback after using this method. This research using qualitative method. Technique sampling was purposive sampling. The sample was sixth students from sixth semester. Instrument of the research was interview. The data analysis using Miles and Huberman model. Using Project based learning in different level of students also give the difference result. Using PjBL in learning RELT subject was effective. It is because the students were in adult age where they can use their critical thinking. So, even this method still had a weak, but students and lecturer still can gain maximum knowledge and experience. Students also active to give feedback, they didn’t hide the problems, this make lecturer easier to fix the problems.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the obstacles faced by teachers in implementing Higher Order Thinking Skill in activities of the lesson plan by in-service teachers of the teacher certification program. This mixed method research used a checklist, and interview as the instruments. This research includes 40 lesson plans that consist of 20 lesson plans for action 1 and 20 lesson plans for action 2. The results of this research revealed that Most HOTS were found with the highest frequency in the core activities and close activities, whereas HOTS were found with the lowest frequency in the preliminary activities. It implied that teachers emphasized the well-distribution of HOTS just in the core and close activities. The interview results revealed that teachers’ challenges encompassed constraints related to time, facilities, teacher competence, student abilities, and student motivation. Additionally, some teachers faced challenges in both preliminary and close activities.

Abstract

Dalam penilaian bahasa, kita lebih cenderung memperhatikan apakah tes yang diberikan dapat menunjukkan skor yang akurat untuk menunjukan kemampuan peserta didik. Terkait dengan aspek kognitif, guru-guru juga turut merancang kurikulum yang harus bisa mencapai setiap level pada ranah kognitif. Oleh karena itu, guru dapat menggunakan taxonomy Bloom untuk membantu membangun persfektif dalam perencanaan pendidikan. Selanjutnya, validitas isi sebagai alat ukur juga dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui apakah peserta didik telah mencapai atau tidak tujuan pembelajaran. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti membahas tentang validitas isi dan taxonomy Bloom yang digunakan didalam merancang instrument tes mata kuliah Reading dan Grammar di Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris STKIP YPM Bangko. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis apakah kedua instrument tes ini telah memenuhi atau tidak validitas isi dan memenuhi standar taxonomy Bloom tersebut sesuai dengan target pencapaian yang harus diraih oleh setiap peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa asesmen untuk mata kuliah Reading telah di rancang berdasarkan validitas isi sesuai dengan tujuan instruksional pembelajaran. Artinya, asesmen yang dirancang memenuhi standar taxonomy Bloom mulai dari application, analysis, dan synthesis. Dengan demikian, siswa telah diajak untuk berpikir secara mendalam. Sementara itu, untuk mata kuliah Grammar, asesmen yang dirancang masih berada pada level knowledge dan comprehension. Artinya, asesmen untuk mata kuliah ini masih perlu diperbaiki. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa setiap dosen Bahasa Inggris harus memperhatikan capaian pembelajaran setiap mata kuliah didalam merancang asesmen.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi kesesuaian dan ketidaksesuaian antara gaya belajar siswa dan gaya mengajar guru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris serta untuk melihat efek dari kesesuaian dan ketidaksesuaian tersebut terhadap kemampuan bahasa Inggris siwa. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus di slaha satu universitas. Responden penelitian ini terdiri dari seorang guru dan 32 siswa. Dalam hal pengumpulan data, penelitian ini menggunakan angket dan wawancara yang masing-masing diberikan kepada guru dan siswa yang dilanjutkan dengan observasi kelas. Kemudian data yang telah diperoleh  dianalisis berdasarkan prinsip data analisis interpretive dan empirical. Hasil penemuan dari penelitian ini adalah sebgaian besar siswa memiliki gaya belajar kinesthetic yang diikuti dengan gaya belajar visual, audio, dan verbal. Sebaliknya, gaya mengajar guru lebih dominan mengarah pada gaya mengajar verbal. Maka, dapat diasumsikan bahwa terdapat ketidaksesuaiain antara gaya belajar siswa dan gaya mengajar guru. Namun, ketidaksesuaian itu tidak memberikan efek negatif terhadap kemampuan siswa.

Abstract

This research is focused on the effect of Anagram Game on the Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at VII Grade MTs N 2 Padangsidimpuan. This research aims to know the suitable and effective technique in teaching vocabulary. The research was an experimental research that uses one group pre-test and post- test design consist of 39 students in experimental class and 39 students in control class. The data were collected from students’ vocabulary test in the experimental class and control class. The result of this research have found from the t-test, which is tcount was higher than ttable (3.921.666). It was concluded that there was a significant effect of anagram game on the students’ vocabulary mastery. It means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted which indicates that anagram technique was significantly effective in teaching vocabulary. Additionally, anagram is a good vocabulary learning technique. It is an interesting game for learners. Thus, it is strongly suggested that teachers apply this technique to help enrich students’ vocabulary.

Abstract

This study aims to produce speaking materials based on the students’ need and interests of Contextual Teaching Learning Approach. This research uses Research and Development design. In the context of the study, the researcher used questionnaire and interview guide. The draft of developed material focused on speaking and it was developed based on curriculum 2013. There are 11 units in this developed material.The researcher found that the materials was appropriate to the students. The students were interested to the topics so they were anthusiastic to speak in the class. It was because they thought that they really knew about the topic and it made them easy to prticipate the lesson. The students also interested with some pictures that display their classmate . It encourage them to read the materials anthusiasly.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out how does Integrating react strategy and digital media literacy improve the students‟ speaking proficiency in Baitul Izzah Elementary School Kota Bengkulu. This research applied Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The respondents were the fourth grade students Baitul Izzah Elementary School of Kota Bengkulu in academic year 2022/2023 that consisted of 28 students. The result showed that integrating react strategy and digital media literacy can improve the students‟ speaking proficiency in term of accuracy in vocabulary. The improvement was showed by the students‟ average score in term of vocabulary in  cycle 1 test (73,89) that included into “satisfactory” category; and average score in cycle II test was (83,46) that included into “very good” category. It means that the students got 12.95% of improvement after getting actions for two cycles.

Abstract

Seyogiyanya, mahasiswa/i IAIN Padangsidimpuan pada semester 6 mampu menguasai Morphology yang merupakan ilmu yang mempelajari seluk-beluk bentuk kata serta fungsi perubahan-perubahan bentuk kata itu sendiri, baik fungsi gramatikalnya maupun fungsi semantiknya. Maka dari itu, Peneliti mencoba mecari tahu sejauh mana kemampuan mahasiswa/i IAIN Padangsidimpuan pada semester 6 memahami secara detail tentang morfologi ini. Hasilnya, Ztest yang Peneliti analisis ditolak, yaitu  Zcount =  - 1,06 Ztable = 1,69. Peneliti dapat menyimpulkan bahwa kemampuan rata-rata mahasiswa/i TBI 1-3 dalam menguasai morfology dikategorikan Cukup.
