Abstract

Modern Islamic education is currently at a crossroads between two major scientific traditions, namely Western epistemology and Islamic epistemology. This condition has given rise to epistemological tension, namely a lack of synchronization between Western epistemology, which tends to be secular, and Islamic epistemology, which is holistic in nature.. Therefore, efforts are needed to integrate scientific development methods from Western and Islamic perspectives and their implications for modern Islamic education. This study aims to identify the characteristics of scientific development methods from Western and Islamic perspectives and analyze their implications for modern Islamic education. This study uses library research methods and focuses on analyzing theories and concepts of science integration from Western and Islamic perspectives and their implications for modern Islamic education. The results of the study indicate that the method of scientific development in the Western perspective has dominant rational-empirical characteristics, using approaches such as observation, experience, experimentation, and observation. Meanwhile, the characteristics of science development in the Islamic perspective do not limit knowledge to only rational and empirical aspects but also open up space for spiritual dimensions. Islamic epistemology places revelation as the highest source of knowledge, which is then reinforced by reason and empirical experience. The integration of naqli and aqli makes Islamic epistemology holistic. The integration of these two approaches encourages the formation of an integrative and holistic modern Islamic curriculum and educational method.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the design of differentiated learning in writing fantasy narrative texts at SMP Negeri 4 Surakarta City. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with 31 students of class VII C as the research subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, and analysis of students’ assessment results. The data analysis technique used in this study was qualitative analysis. As stated by Miles and Huberman (Sugiyono, 2018), data analysis includes data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the differentiated learning design consists of planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. In the planning stage, the teacher prepares teaching modules according to students’ learning needs. In the implementation stage, the teacher conducts learning activities based on students’ levels of understanding (low, medium, and high). During the learning process, the teacher applies differentiation in content, process, and product by providing different materials, activities, and levels of challenge while still referring to the same learning objectives. In the evaluation stage, the teacher uses diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to monitor students’ progress and overall learning outcomes. Differentiated learning is proven to be effective in creating inclusive and meaningful learning and in providing equal opportunities for each student to develop according to their potential and learning needs.

Abstract

The right to life is a non-derogable human right and constitutes a fundamental obligation of the state in all public policies, including public security. However, in the practice of handling mass demonstrations, the protection of the right to life often conflicts with a security paradigm that prioritizes stability and public order. This study aims to analyze the failure of state security policies in protecting the right to life of civilians by using the death of Affan Kurniawan during a mass protest operation as an entry point for analysis. This research employs a normative juridical approach through the examination of legislation, police regulations, and human rights literature. The findings indicate a significant gap between legal norms that guarantee the protection of the right to life and their implementation in crowd control practices. Civilian deaths in this context cannot be understood merely as individual incidents, but rather as preventable deaths resulting from the state’s failure to manage the risks associated with the use of force. The study highlights the need for a shift in security policy from a state-centered security approach toward a human security paradigm that places the protection of human life and dignity at the core of public security governance.

Abstract

Adolescence is a challenging period, particularly in terms of social adjustment and identity search. A lack of social support from family and friends can lead to emotional distress and poor psychological conditions in adolescents, as observed in the students of SMK Negeri X Surakarta. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with purposive sampling, involving seven students and two school counselors as informants. Data were collected through surveys, in-depth interviews, and observations, then analyzed based on five aspects of social support. The findings reveal that emotional support, peer support, and instrumental support related to economic conditions are very limited, which leads to emotional stress and tendencies to withdraw. However, the presence of alternative figures, such as the school counselors and other family members, helps alleviate the psychological burden on adolescents. The study concludes that insufficient social support contributes to emotional stress and a decline in academic performance. Therefore, it is crucial for families, schools, and social environments to play an active role in building a responsive and sustainable support system to address these issues.

Abstract

This study explores the interplay between aging, maternal care, and community health within an urban kampung setting, focusing on Kampung Lio, Depok City. With rising urbanization pressures, marginalized communities like kampungs face compounded challenges to health equity, particularly for vulnerable populations such as older adults and young children. The research aims to assess the physical and mental well-being of older adults and evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of mothers regarding stunting prevention, emphasizing the role of community-based interventions. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining structured surveys of 16 elderly individuals and 13 mothers of children under five, with data analyzed through descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Findings reveal that while elderly residents face significant socioeconomic and physical vulnerabilities, their quality of life remains resilient, largely supported by close familial bonds and cohesive community networks. Mothers exhibit strong awareness and positive attitudes toward stunting prevention, demonstrating a high level of knowledge about nutrition and child development. However, practical implementation of optimal feeding practices is hindered by systemic constraints such as financial limitations, time scarcity due to work or caregiving burdens, and limited access to nutritious food sources. The study underscores the importance of integrated, locally grounded strategies that strengthen intergenerational support systems, empower caregivers, and address structural barriers within urban informal settlements. These insights highlight the critical role of community health initiatives in enhancing social resilience and improving long-term health outcomes in dense, resource-constrained urban environments.

Abstract

Javanese society continues to believe that the mystical world coexists with everyday life, as reflected in Javanese literary works published in Panjebar Semangat, particularly in the Alaming Lelembut column. This study examines forms of magical realism in 19 stories published from January to May 2025 using Wendy B. Faris’s theory, which includes the Irreducible Element, the Phenomenal World, Unsettling Doubt, Merging Realism, and the Disruption of Time, Space, and Identity. The findings reveal that; (1) the Irreducible Element appears through magical objects, events, characters, and myth-based beliefs that cannot be explained empirically. (2) The Phenomenal World depicts realistic settings of time, place, objects, and events, while (3) Unsettling Doubt creates ambiguity between the real and the mystical for readers. (4) Merging Realism is shown through the intrusion of spirits into the real world. (5) Disruptions of time, space, and identity blur the boundaries between reality and the supernatural through temporal reappearances of the dead, rapid spatial shifts, and transformations of identity. This study demonstrates that Javanese literature serves as a medium for preserving local wisdom while simultaneously facilitating contemporary cultural transformation.

Abstract

Active involvement in campus organizations requires students to manage academic responsibilities alongside organizational commitments. In practice, this dual role often creates challenges in self-control and time use, which can lead to delays in completing academic tasks. This situation underlies the need to examine how self-regulation and time management are related to academic procrastination among students who are actively engaged in organizations at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of 340 students who were actively involved in campus organizations, while a sample of 180 students was determined using the Isaac and Michael table with a 5% margin of error and selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using self-regulation, time management, and academic procrastination scales. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that self-regulation and time management simultaneously had a significant effect on academic procrastination. Partially, self-regulation had a negative and significant effect on academic procrastination, indicating that better self-regulation is associated with lower levels of academic procrastination. In addition, time management also had a negative and significant effect on academic procrastination, suggesting that students who are better at managing their time tend to show lower tendencies toward academic procrastination. These findings highlight the importance of self-regulation and effective time management in minimizing academic procrastination among students who are actively involved in campus organizations.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implications of Constitutional Court Decision Number 18/PUU-XVII/2019 on the application of the parate execution principle in fiduciary security. The research is motivated by the transformation of fiduciary execution, where parate execution can no longer be exercised unilaterally by creditors without debtor consent regarding default or a court decision. This study employs a normative juridical research method using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches to examine changes in the legal meaning and implementation of parate execution after the Constitutional Court’s decision. The findings indicate that the decision does not abolish parate execution but conditions its application on specific procedural requirements, including debtor acknowledgment of default and judicial oversight in the event of disputes. Accordingly, the scope of creditors’ direct execution rights becomes limited, while legal protection for debtors is strengthened through the application of the due process of law principle. The study concludes that the Constitutional Court Decision represents a recalibration of the parate execution principle within fiduciary law rather than its complete elimination.

Abstract

Speech delay in early childhood is often conceptualized as a purely linguistic deficit. This perspective tends to emphasize articulation training and vocabulary expansion while overlooking the child’s neuropsychological readiness for verbal communication. Recent empirical evidence suggests that expressive language development is closely related to emotional regulation, attentional capacity, and executive functioning, which collectively shape a child’s readiness to engage in communication. This article aims to examine speech delay as a manifestation of emotional dysregulation and insufficient neuropsychological readiness, and to discuss its implications for early childhood intervention. A narrative review of empirical studies published within the last five years was conducted to synthesize findings on the relationship between language development, emotional regulation, and executive functions. The review indicates that interventions that neglect emotional readiness may increase stress and hinder functional language development. This article highlights the importance of a neuropsychological framework that prioritizes emotional regulation and self-regulatory capacity as foundational components in addressing speech delay in young children.

Abstract

The development of modernization and globalization has brought significant impacts on changes in social and cultural values within society, including traditional customs that have been passed down from generation to generation. The Gorontalo community, despite undergoing various transformations, continues to preserve several customary traditions, one of which is Molapi Saronde, performed in the Hui Mopotilandahu procession as part of the traditional wedding ceremony. This study aims to examine the role of the Molapi Saronde dance as a means of strengthening kinship ties within the Hui Mopotilandahu procession in Telaga Jaya District, Gorontalo Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders and cultural practitioners, and documentation. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Molapi Saronde functions not only as a form of ritual artistic performance but also plays an important social role in strengthening kinship relationships between the families of the prospective bride and groom. The dance embodies values of togetherness, harmony, religiosity, education, and aesthetics, which are reflected in the involvement of families and the wider community in the customary procession. Molapi Saronde serves as a medium of social interaction that affirms acceptance, solidarity, and harmony between families. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of preserving Molapi Saronde as a local cultural heritage that maintains cultural identity and strengthens social bonds within Gorontalo society amid the dynamics of contemporary change.
