Abstract

Training on interactive learning strategies for primary school teachers is an important step in improving the quality of the teaching and learning process. Many teachers still use conventional methods that are less effective in encouraging student engagement. This research focuses on the training provided to teachers of Sumur Bandung Private Primary School with the aim of improving their competence in implementing interactive learning strategies. The implementation method consists of three stages: problem identification, training, and mentoring. The results obtained show an increase in teachers' understanding and skills in utilising interactive learning media, particularly PowerPoint application, to create a more interesting and effective learning atmosphere. With this training, it is expected that the quality of learning at the primary school level can improve, so that students are more motivated and active in the learning process. It is expected to enhance the overall quality of education. Therefore, similar interactive learning strategy training should be conducted regularly to make lesson delivery more engaging and varied.

Abstract

Background: The habit of handwashing with soap (HWWS) can significantly reduce the risk of diarrhea, lowering the incidence by approximately 42–47%. Promoting HWWS practices can help save nearly one million lives globally. This highlights that HWWS is one of the simplest yet most impactful actions for reducing the transmission of infectious diseases, particularly among elementary school students. One of the key problems observed is that many students frequently fall ill, partly due to the lack of regular HWWS habits. The aim of this activity was to assess the impact of health education on students' knowledge regarding HWWS. Methods: This activity was conducted on Friday, September 6, 2024, starting at 08:00 AM until completion. Health education was delivered by Dr. Ivonny Sapulete, MSc, along with a team of master's students from the public health sciences program. The session lasted for two hours and concluded with a social gathering. A total of 60 students and teachers participated in the event. To evaluate the impact, students' knowledge was assessed before and after the health education session through a brainstorming method. Results: The results of this activity showed that there was a noticeable improvement in students’ knowledge about HWWS, as indicated by the brainstorming sessions conducted before and after the health education session. The differences observed demonstrate that the educational intervention positively influenced students’ understanding of proper hand hygiene practices. Conclusion: In conclusion, this educational activity successfully increased students' knowledge about handwashing with soap. Health promotion efforts such as this are essential in instilling good hygiene habits in children from an early age.

Abstract

Karangdayu Village has abundant potential in organic waste such as coconut shells, sawdust, and rice husks, but these resources have not been optimally utilized by the local community. The main issues faced include the low level of waste processing skills and limited access to relevant knowledge and training, particularly among PKK women's groups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The objective of this community service activity is to improve the community’s skills in processing waste into economically valuable products, specifically through charcoal briquette production training. The service methods include stages such as socialization, hands-on training, evaluation during and after the training, and sustainability strategies through the formation of small business groups. The results show that participants developed a good understanding of briquette production techniques and were able to practice the process independently. Moreover, the formation of business groups managed by PKK and MSMEs marks an initial step in creating enterprises based on local potential. In conclusion, this training not only improved the community's technical skills but also opened new opportunities for environmentally friendly and sustainable businesses.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0 encourages the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the field of education. One of its most prominent implementations is through the use of ChatGPT, which functions as a virtual assistant to support the learning process. This technology offers significant potential to enhance learning effectiveness, including providing broad access to information, aiding in the understanding of complex concepts, and encouraging student creativity and collaboration. However, observations of 10th-grade students at SMKN 4 Bojonegoro revealed a low level of understanding regarding the fundamental concepts and ethical use of AI. Most students perceive AI merely as a tool to complete assignments, without recognizing its strategic potential or ethical risks. To bridge this gap, a community service activity was carried out through four main stages: counseling, training, hands-on demonstration, and reflection. The implementation method used an educational approach based on direct practice, combining interactive lectures, ChatGPT training, distribution of digital educational materials, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test surveys. The evaluation was conducted on 20 student respondents. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding and perception: from 20% of students previously unfamiliar with AI, to 100% stating that AI is beneficial in the learning process. This activity demonstrates that an educational approach based on hands-on practice is effective in fostering digital literacy and wise attitudes in the use of technology in vocational secondary education environments.
