Focus and Scope INJECT journal focuses on the discussion of interdisciplinary communication, social-religious research that includes culture, Media Communication using quantitative or qualitative research methods. This journal is a media to accommodate the result of field research of students, lecturers, or practitioners. This journal encompasses original research articles, and short communications, including: Media Communication Political Communication Culture Communication New media and Communication Technologies Public Relations Cross-cultural Communication Organizational Communication Research Communication Social Communication Public Communication Dawah and Communication Religion Inject Journal, published twice a year (June and December) with deference topic. Abstract

There has been an observed shift in digital da’wah towards more managed communication practices in institutions involved in digital media. Even when there is an emphasis on ethical guidelines in Islamic communication studies, there has been a lack of exploration of the application of such ethical guidelines in institutional digital broadcasting. The integration between Islamic communication ethics and digital broadcasting practices will be analyzed in this research study using an institutional mode of analysis based on campus-based Islamic media institutions. This research study uses a qualitative mode of research design that focuses on a qualitative analysis of literature about current developments in Islamic communication studies and media management in conjunction with a qualitative analysis of secondary data based on a desk study of institutional data from a campus-based Indonesian Islamic broadcasting station. Thematic qualitative analysis was used in some qualitative data analysis techniques in relation to identifying patterns of ethical applications in institutional settings. The data generated findings that suggest a selective application of ethics in terms of moderation in educational responsibility according to institutional capacity. Professionalism in institutional forms is more of a behavioral aspiration in terms of structural audience address rather than a current institutional practice. Instead of generating conclusive results in research findings, this study would suggest a heuristic framework of analysis in relation to the inter-relations between institutional management and ethical guidelines in digital da’wah practices based on digital broadcasting practices.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the challenges and opportunities in building family resilience in the era of disruption. The research method used is qualitative, involving in-depth interviews with research informants using purposive sampling, non-participant observation, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the high divorce rate in Mandailing Natal is mainly due to the unpreparedness of families to adapt to the rapid changes in communication technology, which has an impact on the poor quality of communication and causes family resilience to become fragile. Building the resilience of Muslim families in the era of disruption requires specific understanding and steps from various parties that can help families face the challenges and changes in society and technology so they can adapt and maintain the religious values that are the foundation of family unity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication policies of the Regional Finance and Asset Agency (BKAD) of North Sumatra Province in managing grants for Islamic institutions, including the implementation of good governance principles, the effectiveness of guidance and assistance, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in the grant management process. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving BKAD officials and Islamic organizations receiving grants. The findings reveal that although BKAD has established formal regulations through Governor Regulation No. 19/2022, the implementation of communication policies remains suboptimal. Information dissemination is predominantly one-directional, causing gaps in understanding and frequent administrative errors. Guidance and technical assistance are limited, resulting in difficulties for institutions in preparing RAB, SPJ, and financial documentation. Furthermore, the application of good governance principles transparency, accountability, and effectiveness is inconsistent, mainly due to passive information delivery, limited institutional capacity, and insufficient monitoring. Supporting factors include the availability of clear regulations, BKAD's commitment to improving services, and institutions' willingness to learn. However, low administrative literacy, lengthy bureaucracy, limited BKAD human resources, and weak evaluation mechanisms hinder implementation. This study contributes theoretically and practically by highlighting the need for two-way communication, capacity building, and continuous monitoring to strengthen financial governance among Islamic institutions

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the synergy between the Korean entertainment industry’s Star System and fandom reception in shaping and reinforcing the global image of Choi Siwon as a transnational figure within cross-border marketing practices. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with three informants from the ELF fandom and document studies of promotional materials, media coverage, and commercial data related to brands collaborating with Choi Siwon. The analysis employs Stuart Hall’s Encoding–Decoding framework to trace how audiences interpret the industry-constructed image. Findings reveal that Siwon’s persona—combining roles as an idol, actor, and philanthropist—is the result of a systematic Star System that produces a stable and marketable public identity. ELF fandom generally decodes this image dominantly, interpreting Siwon as charismatic, professional, and morally grounded. This interpretation fosters consumption loyalty, demonstrated by increased engagement and product sales endorsed by Siwon, including the Mie Sedaap campaign, which recorded a significant rise in the Indonesian market. These findings confirm that the synergy between the Star System and fandom reception forms an effective global marketing mechanism through celebrity image reinforcement and active audience participation.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a comprehensive theoretical framework for da’wah television by integrating the dimensions of ownership, management, content, product, and goal. This synthesis is designed to provide a systematic academic standard for validating da’wah television claims and bridging the gap between operational management practices and the mission of socio-religious transformation. The research employs a constructivist-interpretive paradigm within a qualitative research design, utilizing a library research approach and a systematic literature review strategy. Data were gathered from major academic databases until late 2025 to ensure the inclusion of the most recent academic discussions. The data were analyzed using Qualitative Content Analysis, adapting the interactive analysis model by Miles, Huberman, & Saldaña (2014) to bridge Islamic normative ideals with media industry realities. The results obtained indicate that a robust da’wah television framework requires a circular integration where ownership influences management, which then dictates the quality of content and product, ultimately leading to the fulfillment of the goal. This cyclical flow ensures that the final media product serves as a tool for social change rather than a mere commodity, while the goal fulfillment feeds back into ownership values. The study contributes significant conceptual enrichment by providing a rigorous analytical vocabulary for Islamic media studies and explicitly mapping the tension points between religious idealism (e.g., peace journalism) and market realities (e.g., sensational conflict journalism). Although limited by the absence of primary empirical data, this theoretical framework establishes a vital foundation for future empirical validation in the modern broadcasting landscape.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the digital public relations strategy through Instagram social media in shaping the brand image of Taman Budaya Yogyakarta (TBY) as “The Window of Yogyakarta”. The method employed is a descriptive, qualitative approach, utilizing case study techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the management of the @tamanbudayayogya Instagram account follows the principles of The Circular Model of SOME, which consists of Share, Optimize, Manage, and Engage. Taman Budaya Yogyakarta utilizes Instagram as a strategic communication medium to disseminate cultural content, build audience engagement, and form emotional connections with the public through two-way interaction, visual content, and collaboration with various external parties. This approach has also proven effective in building a positive image of cultural institutions amidst the challenges of the digital era, making Instagram a key instrument in strengthening Taman Budaya Yogyakarta's identity as Yogyakarta's cultural window.

Abstract

This study addressed the low emotional-spiritual intelligence among students at SMAN 1 Kinali, a problem stemming from a conventional Islamic Religious Education (PAI) approach overly focused on cognitive and dogmatic instruction. The research aimed to develop, implement, and evaluate the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of a Sufi-oriented experiential learning model that integrates Al-Ghazali’s spiritual stages (maqamat) with Kolb’s experiential learning cycle. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) design using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), data were collected through mixed methods, including pre-test/post-test ESQ scales, participant observation, reflective journals, and in-depth interviews. The experimental group (n=32) underwent the intervention, while a control group (n=30) received conventional instruction. Quantitative data analysis using paired and independent sample t-tests revealed a significantly higher ESQ improvement in the experimental group (mean gain = +27.52, p < 0.01, d = 3.78) compared to the control group (mean gain = +10.09). Qualitative thematic analysis showed students' progression to the initial taubah (repentance) stage, marked by heightened self-awareness, behavioral changes, and value internalization. The findings conclude that the developed model is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students' ESQ. This study offers a replicable pedagogical framework for holistic PAI, emphasizing the integration of spiritual psychology and experiential pedagogy.

Abstract

Adolescent substance abuse remains a persistent global public health concern, shaped by developmental vulnerability, social influences, and increasing exposure to media-based messages, highlighting the need for effective and contextually relevant prevention strategies. Although visual communication has become a prominent component of prevention campaigns, evidence regarding its effectiveness and the role of youth participation, particularly through Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR), has not been systematically consolidated. This systematic literature review examines how visual communication is implemented in adolescent substance abuse prevention, evaluates its effectiveness in influencing knowledge, attitudes, social norms, and behaviours, and explores the contribution of YPAR to campaign design and impact. Following PRISMA and Kitchenham guidelines, a comprehensive search was conducted across Scopus and Google Scholar using PICO-informed keywords. Peer-reviewed studies published between 2015 and 2025 in English or Bahasa Indonesia were screened using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Methodological quality was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT), and data were synthesized through thematic analysis supported by NVivo 14. A total of 36 studies were included. The findings indicate that static visuals, audio-visual content, and social media–based strategies dominate the literature and are consistently associated with improvements in knowledge, risk perception, attitudes, and social norms. Behavioural outcomes were less frequently examined. Participatory and YPAR-driven visual approaches, although limited in number, demonstrated strong potential in fostering youth agency, engagement, and empowerment. These findings underscore the importance of integrating participatory visual communication strategies to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of adolescent substance abuse prevention efforts.

Abstract

This qualitative study investigates the process of Incidental News Exposure on social media among Generation Z. Utilizing Sanda Erdelez's five-stage Information Encountering model, the research confirms that INE is a dominant mode of news consumption, largely superseding deliberate news seeking due to social media architecture. Key findings reveal that the process is highly systematic: The Noticing and Stopping stages are driven by sophisticated algorithmic curation, repetition, and affective factors like curiosity and boredom, often transforming passively encountered content into active engagement. Crucially, the Examining stage demonstrated that news utility is primarily defined by social currency, the ability to facilitate peer conversations before any pragmatic or civic value. While the exposure is incidental, it acts as a Catalyst for Deliberate Action, prompting users to verify and seek deeper, intentional information. However, highly engaging incidental content frequently displaces the user’s original intent, confirming INE's significant structural power in dictating information flow. The study concludes that news providers must adapt to Gen Z's reliance on selective incidental exposure by prioritizing casual presentation and social relevance to remain effective.

Abstract

This study examines the acoustic realization of the velar stop /k/ and the uvular stop /q/ in the recitation of Surah Al-‘Alaq, with particular attention to the role of articulatory training. Using acoustic analysis, the study investigates spectral and temporal parameters across readers with different levels of tahsin training, focusing on the second formant (F2) and segmental duration as correlates of place-of-articulation contrast. The results indicate that the distinction between /k/ and /q/ is most consistently reflected in spectral properties. The uvular stop /q/ shows systematically lower F2 values than /k/, reflecting posterior tongue dorsum retraction associated with uvular articulation, even within the highly regulated context of Qur’anic recitation. In contrast, segmental duration does not display a consistent distinction between the two consonants, suggesting that temporal cues are strongly influenced by suprasegmental constraints such as tempo regulation and rhythmic organization. Differences across participant groups further suggest that articulatory training contributes to greater stability in spectral realization. Readers with tahsin training demonstrate more consistent F2 patterns for /q/ than pre-tahsin learners, indicating improved control over articulatory gestures critical for posterior consonant production. Overall, the findings show that spectral cues provide a more reliable basis for distinguishing velar and uvular stops than temporal measures in recitational speech, with important implications for tahsin instruction.
