Abstract

This study aims to describe the management of character education in boarding schools. The focus of the study includes the planning, implementation, and evaluation of character building in the context of boarding school life, which is characterized by the integration of formal education, religious habits, and intensive supervision. This study uses a qualitative approach with a field study type. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation at a boarding school in East Java. The results show that character education management for discipline is carried out through the planning of shared values and rules, the implementation of consistent habits with the example set by boarding school teachers, and daily and monthly evaluations based on reflection on student behavior. These findings reinforce the relevance of Imam al-Ghazali's concept of character education management regarding the importance of riyadhah al-nafs (spiritual training) and Ibn Khaldun's idea of the role of the environment (al-'umran) in shaping behavior. This study confirms that effective management in boarding schools must place discipline not only as a rule but as a process of continuous character building.

Abstract

Aesthetic literacy constitutes a critical yet often underemphasized dimension of primary education, frequently overshadowed by the prioritization of academic cognitive competencies. In fact, aesthetic experiences—particularly through engagement with and appreciation of the arts—play a significant role in cultivating children’s sensitivity, creativity, and reflective capacities from an early age. This article aims to provide a comprehensive examination of the role of art appreciation in the development of aesthetic literacy in primary schools, as well as its implications for pedagogical practices. This study adopts a systematic literature review approach, drawing on a range of relevant scholarly sources in the fields of art education, child development, and aesthetic literacy. The analytical process employs thematic synthesis to identify recurring patterns and conceptual relationships emerging across the literature. The findings indicate that art appreciation contributes simultaneously to children’s cognitive, affective, social, and creative development. Furthermore, aesthetic literacy enriches learning experiences and supports the formation of cultural sensitivity and identity. Its effective implementation in primary education requires the integration of arts-based curricula, the application of multimodal pedagogical approaches, and the active involvement of teachers alongside a supportive learning environment. Therefore, aesthetic literacy should be positioned as an integral component of primary education to foster more holistic, human-centered, and meaningful learning processes.

Abstract

The article on stage property management in the talk show “Tak Senja” as an art education medium for teenagers examines the form, function, and aesthetics of properties used across six live broadcast episodes. The study employs a pictorial analysis approach using visual data from video documentation shared through social media, with data sourced from complete recordings of the program. The findings reveal that all six episodes of Bincang Senja demonstrate increasing maturity in property design to support themes set by the program director. In episode 1.0, the property arrangement reflects a careful strategy to avoid creating a “shock effect” for audiences accustomed to formal and rigid art discussions, by not immediately presenting a fully relaxed set. Episode 2.0 introduces a more relaxed atmosphere. Episodes 3.0 and 4.0 simplify the visual setting compared to earlier episodes. In episode 5.0, the set features a white table and chairs complemented by a book as a supporting prop. Episode 6.0 adopts a warm cream color scheme, with a music box as the main property, creatively used as a seat by the host. Overall, the properties are designed to create a communicative and welcoming visual atmosphere while maintaining aesthetic value. The transition from semi-formal to casual settings reflects a gradual strategy in enhancing visual engagement. This study highlights the importance of effective property management in supporting the delivery of artistic and literary values in a contextual, appealing, and youth-oriented manner.

Abstract

This study aims to quantitatively analyze the relationship between the pore structure of activated carbon and the efficiency of chelating agents in the adsorption of heavy metal ions. Activated carbon derived from durian peel through chemical activation exhibited a specific surface area of 1850–2620 m²/g and a total pore volume of 0.85–1.42 cm³/g, with pore distribution dominated by micropores (60–70%) and mesopores (30–40%). Following modification with EDTA and EDDS, adsorption capacities significantly increased from 78.5 mg/g to 142.3 mg/g for Pb²⁺, from 65.2 mg/g to 118.7 mg/g for Cd²⁺, and from 71.4 mg/g to 126.5 mg/g for Cu²⁺. The maximum removal efficiency reached 94.6% at pH 6 with a contact time of 120 minutes. The Langmuir isotherm model showed a strong fit to the experimental data (R² = 0.981–0.996), with maximum adsorption capacities (qmax) ranging from 130 to 155 mg/g for modified activated carbon. Kinetic analysis revealed that the pseudo-second-order model provided the best fit (R² > 0.99), indicating that chemisorption was the dominant mechanism. The intraparticle diffusion coefficient increased by 35–48% in activated carbon with higher mesopore distribution. Correlation analysis indicated that mesopore volume had a stronger influence on chelation efficiency (r = 0.87) compared to total surface area (r = 0.72). These findings confirm that the synergy between pore structure and chemical modification significantly enhances adsorption efficiency in a measurable and systematic manner.

Abstract

Academic supervision plays a strategic role in improving teacher professionalism, learning quality, and school organizational effectiveness. This study aims to analyze the patterns of academic supervision implemented by school principals as a basis for school organizational development. The research approach uses a qualitative method with a descriptive phenomenological study design to explore in depth the experiences and practices of supervision. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation studies involving principals, teachers, and staff at Muhammadiyah Junior High School. Data analysis was conducted interactively through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing by adapting the Input, Process, Output framework. The results showed that academic supervision was carried out collegially and participatively, but not yet structured. The role of the principal as an academic supervisor is not yet optimal, but this condition does not significantly impact the low quality of the learning process. The research findings indicate that this condition is due to the strong professional commitment of teachers and collaborative support among school personnel. These findings emphasize the urgency of strengthening the capacity of principals and developing a more systematic supervision mechanism to support the sustainable development of school organizations.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between participation in the Chronic Disease Management Program (PROLANIS) and medication adherence, as well as the quality of life among patients at first-level health facilities in Kendari City. PROLANIS is an integrated health service program involving BPJS, health facilities, and patients. Medication adherence is an important factor influencing therapy success and the quality of life. This non-experimental cross-sectional study involved 480 active PROLANIS patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus, receiving drug therapy. The research took place at the Kendari City Community Health Center from July to September 2024, using purposive sampling. Medication adherence was measured with the MARS-5 instrument, and quality of life was assessed with the SF-6D. Data analysis involved coding, scoring, and bivariate chi-square tests. Non-adherence was defined by a MARS-5 score <25, while adherence was represented by a score of 25 (maximum). A quality of life utility value of 0.00-0.78 indicated low quality, while 0.79-1.00 indicated high quality. The findings revealed that both PROLANIS and non-PROLANIS patients exhibited non-adherence (MARS-5 score <25) but reported high quality of life. Chi-square tests showed a significant relationship between PROLANIS participation and medication adherence (p-value 0.036) as well as quality of life (p-value 0.001).

Abstract

Digital transformation has emerged as a strategic phenomenon driving substantial changes in organizational information management. This study aims to identify key challenges and analyze implementation strategies for digital transformation within information management practices. A qualitative approach was employed through a literature-based study, utilizing thematic analysis of relevant scholarly sources. The findings indicate that the primary challenges of digital transformation encompass structural, technological, and cultural dimensions, which interact dynamically and influence implementation effectiveness. On the other hand, digital transformation contributes positively to improving information quality, enhancing system efficiency, and enabling data-driven decision-making. However, these benefits are not automatic; they are highly contingent upon the quality of information governance and the organizational readiness to adopt digital technologies strategically. Furthermore, this study identifies several effective implementation strategies, including the integration of knowledge management, the strengthening of digital leadership, the application of change management practices, and the continuous evaluation of information systems. Based on these findings, a conceptual model is proposed, positioning information management and knowledge management as mediating variables in the relationship between digital transformation and organizational performance. This study contributes theoretically to the advancement of digital-based information management research and offers practical implications for organizations in designing more adaptive and sustainable digital transformation strategies.
