Abstract

Hindus construct holy places (pura) to symbolize Mount Mahameru, the highest mountain in Indonesia. These temples represent Mount Kailasa (Kailas), the abode of Bhatara Shiva (the Supreme God). Each temple typically features a "Candi Bentar," which serves as the entrance to the outer courtyard leading to the inner courtyard. Over time, influenced by Hindu art and culture, Candi Bentar has expanded beyond sacred sites to also appear in traditional Balinese homes, hotels, and even as boundary markers for Pakraman villages. This trend raises the question of how Candi Bentar differs when situated in temples compared to its presence in residential and commercial settings in Bali. The aim of this research is to address the issues arising from the proliferation of Candi Bentar, not only in temples but also in residential homes, hotels, and as village boundaries. This field research seeks to uncover the meanings attributed to Candi Bentar by the community in various contexts. The study utilizes symbolic theory to explore its functions and semiotics to understand the meanings of Candi Bentar in temples, traditional Balinese housing, hotels, and village boundaries. Data collection involves observation, interviews, and reviews of documents and literature. The research is presented in a qualitative, interpretive, and descriptive format. The findings reveal that Candi Bentar shares similarities in function and meaning—historically, theologically, and philosophically—across sacred places, traditional Balinese housing, hotels, and village boundaries. This shared meaning aligns with the development concepts outlined in Asta Kosala-Kosali and Asta Bumi, derived from Silpasastra by Bhagawan Wiswakarma. These concepts describe traditional Balinese architecture as embodying sacred values and integrating the microcosm with the macrocosm. Each traditional Balinese building serves as a medium for connecting humans with the divine, with each other, and with the natural environment.

Abstract

The Javanese literary work Serat Wedatama is one of the historical relics in the form of culture written by KGPAA Mangkunegara IV. Judging from the author's fact that he still has blood ties with the Hindu kings of Majapahit and also seen from the selection of vocabulary that contains Sanskrit elements, it is alleged that this literary work has a correlation with the Hindu concept. This research aims to find out the values of Serat Wedatama in the perspective of Hindu tattwa and ethics. The method used in this study is a literature study with a hermeneutic approach. The results of the study show that Pupuh Pangkur Pada 12 in the Hindu perspective is the concept of Tattwa Jnana or Brahma Widya, moksa, Bhiksuka/Sannyasin, and brahmin. Pupuh Pucung Pada 12 is the concept of Bhatara and Paramatma. Pupuh Sinom Pada 1 is identical to the sloka in Lontar Sila Sasana which contains the concept of precepts, besides that the pupuh also implies the teaching of tat twam asi. Pupuh Sinom on 3 is the implementation of the Siwaratri brata.

Abstract

Abstrack The concept of Law of Attraction (LoA) has been a topic of great interest, especially in the context of spirituality and self-development. LoA argues that positive thoughts and intentions can attract desired experiences and outcomes into one's life. In this paper, it is explained that a deeper understanding of LoA can be found in Hinduism, which emphasizes the importance of intention and action through the concepts of karma, dharma and reincarnation. Hinduism asserts that every action has consequences, reflecting the basic principle of LoA which suggests that what we radiate out into the universe will return to us. Through literature analysis, this research explores the role of karma phala in the LoA mechanism and the harmony between Bhuana Agung (macrocosm) and Bhuana Alit (microcosm) in its application. It uses Cartesian theory to understand the relationship between mind and body, and emphasizes the importance of mind control in achieving desired outcomes. Emphasis is also given to the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which underscores the importance of harmony between man, God and nature. The results show that thinking positively and acting in accordance with good values can maximize the potential for manifestation in life. However, LoA does not only rely on belief, but also requires effort and real action to realize dreams. In conclusion, the application of LoA in daily life should be based on the principles of kindness and mind control, which can lead individuals to a more sustainable and meaningful life.

Abstract

Hinduism has its own philosophical system called darsana. Darsana is interpreted as a view or philosophy that does not negate God. Darsana has several schools known as sad darsana which are included in the philosophy of astika, meaning that sad darsana is a philosophy that recognizes the authority of the Vedas. The six schools of sad darsana are Nyāya darsana, Vaiśesika darsana, Sāṁkhyā darsana, Yoga darsana, Mīmāṁsā darsana, and vedanta darsana. Mimamsa darsana is one of the sad darsana schools, mimamsa darsana is a teaching that emphasizes rituals derived from the teachings of the Vedas. In the modern era, the teachings of the teachings are challenged, namely about changes that change the way of looking at human beings to be pragmatic, meaning that everything is fast and instantaneous. This certainly threatens the relevance of the teachings of sad darsana, especially the mimamsa darsana which emphasizes the implementation of rituals. Hearing the word ritual with pragmatic human nature will certainly make the human view of ritual into something that requires long preparation and even tends to be difficult. That is what can threaten the relevance of the teachings of the darsana imamsa, therefore the focus of this paper is to see the relevance of the teachings of the darsana imamsa in the midst of this change. This paper uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a literature study method to explore the problem. The result of this article is the teaching of mim.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relevance of the Hindu philosophical principle of Dharma as an alternative ethical framework in the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI). The research addresses the growing ethical crisis in modern AI systems, particularly concerning algorithmic bias, system autonomy, and the absence of moral accountability. Employing a qualitative philosophical-hermeneutic approach, this study analyzes classical Hindu texts such as the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, and Manusmṛti, alongside contemporary academic literature. Data collection techniques include textual analysis and semi-structured interviews with Hindu clerics, philosophy scholars, and AI ethics experts in Bali and Yogyakarta. The analysis reveals that Dharma offers a holistic ethical framework—encompassing moral, spiritual, and cosmological dimensions—that bridges the gap between technological efficiency and moral responsibility. Three central themes emerged from the findings: (1) moral responsibility based on svadharma (individual duty), (2) ahimsa (non-violence) ethics in algorithmic design, and (3) the spiritualization of technology as a means to preserve cosmic harmony. These insights contribute theoretically to the development of a more pluralistic, culturally rooted AI ethics discourse and offer practical implications for designing context-aware and human-centered AI policy frameworks. The study concludes that integrating Eastern philosophical values into technology ethics curricula and global AI governance is essential. Future research is encouraged to explore ethical principles from other religious traditions and examine the application of Dharma-based ethics in participatory, community-driven technology design.

Abstract

Digital transformation has permeated various aspects of life, including spiritual practices within Hinduism, a tradition rich in the values of bhakti (devotion). This article explores the transformation of bhakti-based spiritual communication in the context of digital media, particularly through practices such as live-streamed puja, spiritual content on YouTube, and other online platforms. Utilizing a qualitative, literature-based approach, this study integrates classical Hindu texts such as the Bhagavata Purana and Narada Bhakti Sutra with contemporary academic literature on digital religious communication. The findings indicate that while the form and medium of ritual delivery have undergone significant transformation, the core values of bhakti—including divine love, selfless service (seva), and spiritual connection—remain preserved. Moreover, digital connectivity expands the reach of devotional practices, enabling spiritual participation across geographical and generational boundaries. Virtual communities actively contribute to shaping inclusive and adaptive digital worship spaces. Thus, digital bhakti not only represents a new mode of spirituality but also affirms the resilience and adaptability of Hindu teachings in the technological age. Abstract

The holding of general elections (Pemilu) reflects political stability in a democratic country. Elections are political contests that have the potential to pose challenges. From a historical perspective, Kresna in the Mahābhārata epic is described as being able to deal with the political turmoil that occurred in the country of Bharata. Through a cultural approach, Krishna's character can be correlated with the dynamics of elections. Based on this background, three research questions are presented: The Division of Stories in the Mahabharata, Krishna's Political Stance, and Krishna's Exemplary Behavior in Facing Post-Election Dynamics. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a historical and philosophical hermeneutic approach. Data and information sources are taken from literature studies and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman type. This research was able to describe the results that Krishna's political stance can be used as a model so that the Indonesian people can be brave, neutral, peaceful, and become smart voters in the post-election dynamics. The purpose of the research is directed as a guideline in maintaining a situation that is willing to accept the results, remain calm, and harmonious.
