Abstract

Chemotherapy is highly recommended for cancer treatment. However, it can cause some side effects such as nausea and vomiting. Nausea and vomiting will affect food intake and nutritional status in cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy. To describe nutritional status based on anthropometry Body Mass Index (BMI), hemoglobin (Hb), Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA), and Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapyin RSUP. Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar. This experiment uses a quantitative non-experimental research method with a cross-sectional approach, nonprobability sampling with a purposive sampling technique on 70 respondents, data collection with an interview, and observation techniques. Nutritional status based on BMI shows that 39 people (55.7%) had normal BMI values. About 37 people (52.9%) had good/normal nutritional status based on PG-SGA, while MNA reveals 100% of respondents experienced nutritional status problems. MNA is the best tool to iden tify the nutritional status of cancer patients that undergo chemotherapy since this instrument is susceptible and practical. PG-SGA is good to assess nutritional status in a subject who has lost weight drastically and shows signs of subcutaneous fat loss and muscle mass loss.

Abstract

Stunting (short body) is a very short body state that goes beyond 2 SD below the median length or height of the population body which is an international reference. Stunting describes a lack of nutrition that has been going on for a long time and requires time for children to develop and recover. A number of studies show a link between stunting with poor motor and mental development in early childhood, and poor cognitive achievement and school achievement in late childhood. In Sleman Regency in 2014 the stunting number reached 12.87% (DIY 14.32%), wasting 4.02% (DIY 3.89%) and overweight 5.82% (DIY 5.84%). The highest stunting rate appears in the Margins of 141 toddlers experiencing stunting. Of all the toddlers in existence, and as a cause of malnutrition cases are the presence of comorbidities, congenital abnormalities from birth and because of wrong care. Parents of children with stunting have focused on treatments to restore anthropometric growth but are less aware of the stimulation efforts that need to be done. The purpose of this study was to provide a design intervention in midwifery care in children with stunting by providing education to parents about stimulation of growth and development. The research method uses quasi-experimental pre-post test with control group design. Data analysis was carried out by Paired T-test analysis. Respondents in this study were mothers with 1-3 year old stunting children in Sleman Regency. The sampling technique used in this study was using purposive sampling technique. The number of samples in this study were 37 people. The results showed that there was an effect of providing education on the stimulation of child growth and development of parents children with stunting with a significance value of p = 0.002 (p <0.05). There is influence of education giving on the parent's behavior about growth stimulation in children with stunting.

Abstract

Heart failure (HF) patients may experience fatigue and poor sleep quality due to impairment in cardiac structure or function. These distressing symptoms may create a vicious circle leading to poor outcomes but often undervalued and ignored amongpatients. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between fatigue and sleep quality among patients with HF in Indonesia. A cross-sectional, correlational study design was performed with 153 convenience samples recruited from a cardiology outpatient department at a medical center in Indonesia. Descriptive statistics, bivariate analyses (Independent T-tests, One-way Analysis of Variance/ANOVA, and Pearson correlation), and hierarchical regression analysis were utilized to analyze the data. Instruments included demographic characteristics and clinical variables questionnaire, the Multidimensional Assessment of Fatigue (MAF), and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The mean age of participants was 61.86±10.79 years old and the mean duration of HF diagnosis was 4.26±5.48 years. All participants complained of fatigue, while 73.2% had poor sleep quality. Participants who were poor sleepers had a higher proportion of individuals used massage, not having taken dyslipidemia drugs, had normotension or well-controlled blood pressure, and suffered from hypertensive heart disease (HHD) and renal diseases. All fatigue domains, except the degree of interference in ADL, was significantly associated with sleep quality. However, only the timing domain determined sleep quality, meaning, the longer the fatigue, the poorer the sleep quality. This study suggests future interventions should be directed to decrease the level of severity, distress reduction, and particularly shorten fatigue duration should be developed to improve the sleep quality

Abstract

Children with disabilities are children who have limited whether physical, intellectual, mental, sensory, and multiple disability. Children with disabilities tend to have poor quality of life due to low ability fulfilled basic needs independently. Therefore, they need special treatment from their parents and that could be the reasons of burden for parents as primary caregiver. This research aims to find the general burden of parents in disabilities children who attended Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) Negeri Cileunyi. This is a quantitative descriptive research with cross sectional approach. The population in this research were 158 parents (father/mother) of children with disability. The sample in this research was obtained 67 people by using convenience sampling technique. The research used Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) as research instrument. The data have been obtained and analyzed by univariateanalysis. The results will be analyzed by using frequency distribution. The result showed that 46.3% means little or no burden, 37.3% means mild to moderate burden, 14.9% means moderate to severe burden and 1.5% means severe burden. The conclusions of this research show that almost half of respondents are in the category of little or no burden. However, there were still respondents who had a severe burden, this is due to parents and children characteristics, poor self-control and lack of social support. Nurses need to provide family center care such as counseling and providing health education to parents with disabilities children and optimize existing support groups.

Abstract

Family centered care (FCC) in intensive care as a family-based care approach has been developed for a long time, but this development in Indonesia is still not optimally created. The FCC needs basic data about the needs of the family who are caring for it, so that the need for the family can be identified therefore nursing intervention can be done optimally. One measure that has been developed to assess family needs is Critical Care Family Needs Inventory (CCFNI). The purpose of this study was to analyze the CCFNI questionnaire in Indonesian version. This study tried to test the questionnaire through several steps translation into Indonesian, validity testing in the form of validity content documents (CVI) and construct validity, and reliability testing. Theresults of the CVI test on 45 Indonesian language CCFNI questionnaire statements found that the CVI value was in the range 0.6-0.9obtained 36 valid statement items, while the results of the construct validity test were found to be valid. Reliability test results obtained an alpha value of 0.97 which means it is very reliable. The conclusion is that the Indonesian version of the CCFNI questionnaire which is translated into Kebutuhan Keluarga Pasien di Ruang Perawatan Intensif (K3PI) is valid and reliable

Abstract

West Kalimantan, majorly in density populated city-Pontianak- had not accurate statistic review about dementia and Alzheimer's. Huge nursing care attention to elderly was put on physically as degenerative process, while emotional and memory either cognitive function were not clearly assessed. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of Mini-Cog and MMSE as valid instrument identify ing and finding cognitive impairment in elderly which were leading to risk of de mentia as part of nursing assessment. This was a cross-sectional study with 108 literate elderly of both genders at the outpatient clinics and shelters of Geriatricts and nursing homes in city of Pontianak dan district of Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan. Sensitivity and specificity of vital measurements the Mini-Cog were compared with those of the Mini- Mental State Exam. Some factors-age, education, ethnicity, sleep duration were tested to find its correlation to cognitive impairment. All who met criteria for probable dementia based on informant interviews and with no revealed history of cognitive decline were included. Mini-Cog had the highest sensitivity and correctly classfied the greatest percentage (60.2%) of subjects in state posi tive cognitive impairment. Moreover, MMSE had 53.7% sensitivity to recognized probable and definite cognitive impairment. The MMSE score was 21.88±11.309 which was in higher risk. Administration time for the Mini-Cog was 3 minutes while MMSE had 7 minutes. The Mini-Cog instrument is the easier way and more effec tive in revealing the risk of dementia with minimal language interpretation require ment and less training to administer than MMSE. Elderly in upper 60 ages is higher risk group to undergo cognitive impairment-range from mild to moderate even se vere.
