Abstract

The third trimester of pregnancy, especially towards delivery, is a crucial phase for expecting mothers. Anxiety during this period is a common emotional response, which can affect both maternal and fetal health. This study aims to assess the effects of relaxation therapy using the "Five-Finger Relaxation" technique and pregnancy exercises (senam hamil) on anxiety levels in pregnant women in their third trimester, nearing labor, at PMB Ny. M in Cianjur District in 2024. The study uses a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 30 pregnant women as participants. Data were collected using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the paired t-test to compare anxiety levels before and after the interventions. The results indicate that both Five-Finger Relaxation therapy and pregnancy exercises significantly reduce anxiety levels in the participants, with a p-value < 0.05. These findings suggest that combining these two interventions can be an effective and simple strategy to reduce anxiety in pregnant women in the third trimester. Therefore, it is recommended to integrate these therapies into routine prenatal care as part of comprehensive maternal health management..

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between physical activity and stress management among physiotherapy students at Universitas Awal Bros. As students face various academic pressures and challenges, stress levels can significantly impact their overall well-being and academic performance. Physical activity has been recognized as an effective strategy for reducing stress and enhancing mental health. This research employs an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach, involving a sample of 20 physiotherapy students who completed questionnaires assessing their physical activity levels and stress management strategies. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was used to measure physical activity, while the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) assessed stress levels. Preliminary results indicate that a significant portion of students engages in regular physical activity, which correlates with lower stress levels. Statistical analysis reveals a meaningful relationship between the frequency and intensity of physical activity and the effectiveness of stress management techniques among students. These findings suggest that promoting physical activity could be a valuable component in stress management programs for physiotherapy students, ultimately contributing to improved mental health and academic success

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of massage and cooling down on the reduction of fatigue levels in soccer athletes at the Angkasa Surakarta Soccer School. Physical fatigue experienced by athletes is often caused by high intensity and duration of training, as well as the accumulation of lactic acid in the muscles. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental design with a pre and post-test approach on two groups. A total of 24 athletes were divided into two groups, where one group received massage intervention and the other group underwent cooling down sessions. The results of the analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a significant effect of massage on reducing fatigue levels (p < 0.05), while cooling down did not show a significant effect. These findings indicate that massage is more effective in aiding muscle recovery from fatigue compared to cooling down. This study is expected to provide insights for coaches and healthcare practitioners in designing more effective recovery programs for soccer athletes.

Abstract

Oxytocin massage is a non-pharmacological intervention proven effective in increasing breast milk production in postpartum mothers. This technique involves gentle massage along the spine to stimulate the release of oxytocin, a hormone involved in the let-down reflex and milk ejection. A review of multiple studies shows that oxytocin massage significantly enhances both the volume of breast milk and breastfeeding frequency. The intervention also provides relaxation benefits, reducing stress in breastfeeding mothers. Therefore, oxytocin massage is recommended as part of maternal nursing practices to support the success of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Coronary heart disease (CHD) in the elderly represents the primary clinical manifestation of atherosclerosis and remains a leading cause of death and morbidity. This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the role of High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL), Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL), Apolipoprotein-A (APO-A), and Apolipoprotein-B (APO-B) in the diagnosis and prevention of CHD among the elderly population. The results demonstrated that both APO-A and HDL were significantly negatively correlated with CHD (r = -0.336, p = 0.008; r = -0.274, p = 0.032), suggesting that higher levels of APO-A and HDL are associated with a lower risk of CHD. Conversely, APO-B and LDL showed a significant positive correlation with CHD (r = 0.411, p = 0.001; r = 0.358, p = 0.005), indicating that elevated levels of APO-B and LDL are linked to an increased risk of CHD. These findings highlight that measuring Apolipoprotein A and B levels may offer more valuable insights into atherosclerotic and cardiovascular risk assessment and may enhance the effectiveness of CHD prevention compared to traditional lipid profiles.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a unique natural phenomenon but often causes complications due to anatomical and physiological changes that occur in the mother's body. One of the important health conditions to pay attention to in reducing maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity is anemia in pregnancy. The prevalence of anemia during pregnancy is quite high, estimated at 38.2% worldwide, with the highest prevalence in Southeast Asia (48.7%). One of the factors that influence the incidence of anemia in pregnancy is maternal age. The aim of this research was to investigate whether there is a correlation between maternal age and the prevalence of anemia during pregnancy. This cross-sectional study was held at C Hospital from June to July 2019 by taking medical record data at the Midwifery Ward from January 2019 to December 2019. The variables of this study were the age of the mother recorded in the medical record when she gave birth at C-Hospital (chronological age) and the incidence of anemia as seen from the basic hematological results measured upon admission to the obstetric care room. Pearson Chi-Square test with Yates Correction was used for statistical analysis when the Expected Count was above 5% and Fisher's Exact Test when the Expected Count was below 5%. 924 respondents met the inclusion criteria. The chi-square statistical test results stated a significant relationship between maternal age and the incidence of anemia during pregnancy (p-value <0.001). In conclusion, maternal age has been shown to affect the incidence of anemia in pregnancy.
