Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is crucial for creating safe and healthy working environments. Firefighters face significant risks in their line of duty. This research aims to identify the factors influencing work safety behavior among firefighters in Jambi City. This study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Research informants included firefighters with various roles and levels, encompassing field officers, OSH personnel, and the division head. The research examines the influence of human factors (knowledge), work environment factors (personal protective equipment/PPE, training, the role of OSH, and reward systems), and OSH indicators on work safety behavior. The findings indicate that the OSH knowledge of firefighters in Jambi City is considered adequate, with alignment between established OSH standards and the officers' perceptions. PPE is acknowledged as important, but budgetary constraints affect the availability of more specific PPE. OSH training is deemed essential for enhancing officers' knowledge and awareness. The role of OSH within the organization is seen as important for creating a safe work environment, although there are expectations for improved understanding and implementation of OSH in the field. The reward system is perceived as inconsistent. OSH indicators, such as regulations and SOPs, are considered effective guidelines for task execution. Work safety behavior among firefighters in Jambi City is influenced by a complex interplay of human factors, work environment factors, and the OSH system. Adequate OSH knowledge and effective implementation of OSH indicators form a critical foundation. However, improvements in areas such as PPE provision, consistency of the reward system, and enhanced understanding and comprehensive implementation of OSH are necessary to strengthen the safety culture and reduce the risk of workplace accidents.

Abstract

Stunting is an indicator of chronic nutritional problems that requires serious attention for the growth and development of children, especially toddlers. Low maternal knowledge about stunting prevention is one of the main risk factors that can worsen this condition. This research aimed to assess the impact of health education on enhancing mothers' knowledge about stunting prevention. The study took place in the Wara Public Health Center area, Palopo City, from May to June 2025, employing a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design using one group and pretest-posttest measurements. A total of 57 participants were included as research subjects. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was utilized for analysis. The findings demonstrated a notable improvement in mothers' knowledge after the health education intervention, with most respondents falling into the category of having good knowledge. Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of less than 0.05, confirming that the health education significantly enhanced mothers' knowledge. These findings suggest that appropriate educational interventions can serve as an effective strategy in preventing stunting within the community. Therefore, strengthening health education programs, especially at the primary care level such as integrated health posts (posyandu), should be continuously optimized to enhance awareness and preventive behaviors among mothers.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by the dengue virus and transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The working area of the Rawasari Health Center in Jambi City shows a trend of increasing dengue cases from year to year. This indicates that there may be other factors influencing the incidence of dengue, including physical environmental conditions and community behavior. The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between the presence of mosquito larvae in water reservoirs/containers, the action of hanging clothes, using mosquito repellent, cleaning water containers, disposing of waste items, and installing wire mesh with the incidence of dengue fever in the working area of the Rawasari Health Center in 2025. This research uses a quantitative study, with a case control design. The sample size consisted of 24 cases and 24 controls determined by matched case control study techniques based on age and gender. Data were collected through questionnaires and observation sheets, and analyzed using the chi-square test to determine the relationship between the independent variables and the incidence of dengue fever. The results show that the presence of mosquito larvae in water storage containers (p-value 0.042), practices of cleaning water storage containers (p-value 0.020), actions to eliminate waste items (p-value 0.043), and the installation of screens or mosquito nets (p-value 0.004) are significantly related to the incidence of dengue fever. Conversely, other factors such as the habit of drying clothes and the use of mosquito repellent did not show a statistically significant relationship with dengue fever cases in the study population. There is a significant relationship between the actions of cleaning water storage places and installing wire mesh. Effective prevention requires active community involvement in maintaining environmental cleanliness and consistently implementing the 3M Plus practices.

Abstract

Abstract

Low Birth Weight (LBW) is one of the main causes of high neonatal morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. This study aims to describe the comprehensive nursing care process for a baby with LBW in the NICU room of Bina Kasih Hospital Medan. The design used was a descriptive case study with one patient as the subject, Mrs. S, who was born weighing 1,500 grams and was 35 weeks and 4 days gestational age. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews with parents, medical record documentation studies, and literature reviews. The results of the study showed four main nursing diagnoses, namely ineffective thermoregulation, nutritional imbalance less than body requirements, risk of infection, and parental anxiety. Interventions were carried out through temperature monitoring, breastfeeding through OGT, umbilical cord care, and family education. After 3 days of care, two nursing diagnoses were successfully resolved, while the other two required follow-up. This study emphasizes the importance of a holistic and integrated nursing approach to improve clinical outcomes of LBW babies, as well as the active role of nurses in education and emotional support to families. Appropriate and evidence-based nursing care is the key to optimal neonatal care.

Abstract

The high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Indonesia, including 2,490 positive cases among pregnant women in 2023, highlights the importance of prevention efforts, particularly in preventing mother-to-child transmission. At Puskesmas Cilacap Selatan II, one out of 265 pregnant women tested between January and October 2024 showed a reactive HIV result. Early detection and pregnant women’s knowledge are crucial, as low knowledge can hinder the utilization of Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) services. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between pregnant women’s knowledge and HIV prevention behaviors. Using a quantitative correlational method with a cross-sectional design, 86 respondents were selected from a population of 341 through purposive sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using a correlation test (specific statistical test to be confirmed). The results showed a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05) and a correlation coefficient of 0.765, indicating a very strong and positive correlation—the higher the knowledge, the better the prevention behavior. It was concluded that pregnant women’s knowledge is strongly associated with HIV prevention behavior. Therefore, it is recommended that the Puskesmas enhance HIV/AIDS education to prevent mother-to-child transmission.
