Abstract

Hospitals, as healthcare service providers, are required to improve the quality and efficiency of their services, one of which is through the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR). This transformation impacts the workload of staff, particularly in the Medical Records Unit. This study aims to analyze the workload and staffing needs of the Medical Records Unit at Dr. Sitanala Central General Hospital using a descriptive quantitative approach with the Health Workload Analysis (ABK-Kes) method. Data were collected through observation and interviews with six staff members using observation sheets, interview guidelines, and informed consent forms. The results show that the Available Working Time (AWT) is 72,000 minutes per year, exceeding the national standard. There are 11 core tasks and 3 supporting tasks, with the highest Standard Workload (SWL) found in the recording and filing activity (72,000), and the Standard Supporting Task (SST) value is 1.2. Based on achievements, SWL, and SST, a total of four staff members are needed to balance the workload. Currently, only one staff member remains due to staff rotation, resulting in a shortage of three personnel. Therefore, Dr. Sitanala Hospital needs to recruit three additional medical record officers with a minimum qualification of a D3 in Medical Records to maintain optimal service and manageable workloads.

Abstract

Dengue fever continues to pose a serious threat to global public health, particularly among children aged 5 to 14 years. Schools are potential hotspots for the transmission of dengue hemorrhagic fever due to students' limited knowledge regarding its transmission and prevention. Educational interventions using engaging media, such as flashcards, are considered effective in enhancing awareness and preventive behaviors. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effect of flashcard-based education on elementary school students' knowledge of dengue fever prevention. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group was employed. The study involved 30 students from grades 5 and 6 at SDN 1 Sajira, who were divided equally into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received health education using flashcards. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests and independent t-tests to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Results: The bivariate analysis showed a statistically significant increase in the knowledge scores of students in the intervention group (p-value = 0.000; p < 0.05). This indicates that the flashcard-based education had a significant positive effect on students' knowledge regarding dengue prevention. Conclusion: Flashcard-based health education is effective in increasing knowledge about dengue prevention among elementary school students. Schools are encouraged to implement similar educational strategies and collaborate with local health centers to support dengue eradication efforts.

Abstract

In the field of pharmacy, infrared spectrophotometry, particularly Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), has become an important analytical method, especially for determining the content of active substances in drug preparations. This method has many advantages, including rapid analysis, high precision, and non-destructive characteristics, as well as the ability to identify specific functional groups in chemical compounds. Based on a review of ten recent scientific articlesThe aim of this study is to provide an overview and analyze the use of the FTIR method in determining the drug content. The research results demonstrate that FTIR consistently provides results that meet the standards of the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia, with an accuracy above 99% and a precision (RSD) below 1%. Moreover, this method is highly reliable for analyzing various drug compounds, ranging from analgesics and antibiotics to other complex compounds, due to the high sensitivity indicated by the LOD and LOQ parameters. The FTIR method is also very useful in analysis.

Abstract

The increase in dengue fever (DHF) cases in 2024 has become a serious global concern, with 14 million cases and over 10,000 deaths reported worldwide. In Indonesia, children aged 5–14 years are the most affected group, with 138,465 cases. Mothers play a crucial role in preventing DHF in children. Mothers with good knowledge of early signs and symptoms can help ensure faster treatment and prevent severe complications. Objective: This study aims to describe the level of mothers' knowledge in detecting early signs of DHF in children aged 5–14 years in Paseban Village, Klaten Regency. Method: This is a descriptive quantitative study using purposive sampling. The population consisted of 699 mothers with children aged 5–14 years, and 100 respondents were selected as samples. A questionnaire with 29 validated and reliable items was used as the research instrument. Results: Most mothers (76%) in Paseban Village had good knowledge of early DHF detection. Implication: These findings suggest that most mothers are already well-informed about recognizing early symptoms of DHF. This reflects the positive impact of health education provided through health workers and media, which should be continued and expanded to strengthen DHF prevention efforts.

Abstract

Microencapsulation is a technology that uses controlled release of active ingredients to increase bioavailability and reduce gastrointestinal irritation. This study aims to evaluate the microencapsulation formulation of ethanol extract of papaya leaf (Carica papaya L.) by testing its stability, moisture content, and floating in the stomach and intestinal medium. Mardikasari et al (2020) showed the release of chitosan-alginate microencapsulation of 8,811 mg/L (acid) and 79,908 mg/L (base). Microencapsulation was performed by adding sodium alginate and chitosan as polymers, CaCl2 as a cross-linking, and three variations of extract concentration in F1 without extract, F2 of 0,25%, F3 of 0,5%, and F4 of 0,75%. The results showed that all formulas remained stable during the storage cycle in terms of color, aroma, taste, and texture. The average moisture content of the microencapsulated formulations was 24%, 20,5%, 28%, and 18,7%. The microencapsulated preparations were able to maintain their stability in the acidic conditions in the stomach, but showed a decrease in floating under acidic conditions in the intestine.

Abstract

This test aims to evaluate the formulation of floating microcapsule preparations containing ethanol extract of white turmeric (Curcuma zedoaria Rosc.), using chitosan, sodium alginate, and calcium chloride polymers as crosslinking agents. The preparation was formulated using the crosslinking method and tested based on its physical properties, which include moisture content, physical stability through cycle tests, resistance to the gastric and intestinal mucosa. The results showed that the microcapsule formulation was able to maintain the color and texture during the storage period well. The microcapsule durability test showed that the particles could survive in the gastric and intestinal mucosa for two hours. In addition, the water content is within the range that is in accordance with the requirements, namely, at a concentration of 0.25% there is (22%), a concentration of 0.5% there is (38.75%), a concentration of 0.75% there is (22.5%), and the blank has 20.5% water content. Based on previous research by Mardikasari et al., (2020) which used chitosan and alginate polymers. Through this method, this formulation shows the possibility as a technology-based drug delivery system that survives effectively in increasing the bioavailability of active substances from white turmeric.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and bullying victimization in health science students in West Sumatra. The study used a quantitative method on 383 health science students in West Sumatra. The instrument in this study was made by the researcher himself, where the emotional intelligence scale refers to the theory put forward by Mayer (2004) and the bullying victimization scale refers to the theory of Smith et al. (1999). The results of the study showed that there was a significant negative relationship between emotional intelligence and bullying victimization (r = -0.154, p <0.05). The results of this study indicate that the higher the level of emotional intelligence, the lower the bullying victimization experienced by health science students in West Sumatra. Conversely, a low level of emotional intelligence can increase the possibility of becoming a victim of bullying in health science students in West Sumatra.
