Abstract

The betel nut tradition in the engagement ceremony in Sumberdanti Village is a cultural heritage that remains preserved by the local community amidst the tide of modernization. This tradition not only serves as a symbol in the proposal procession but also serves as a means of respect, social communication, and affirmation of a man's seriousness in proposing to his future wife. This study aims to understand the meaning and position of the betel nut tradition from an Islamic legal perspective, specifically through the concept of 'urf'. The study used a qualitative method with a field approach, through interviews, observation, and documentation of the community members who practice the tradition. The results indicate that the betel nut practice has strong social and historical value, but from an Islamic legal perspective, it is classified as 'urf fasid', meaning a custom without an explicit basis in sharia law. Nevertheless, this tradition is still recognized as a form of local wisdom as long as it does not conflict with sharia principles. Therefore, the preservation of the betel nut tradition needs to be accompanied by a reinterpretation to align it with Islamic values and maintain its cultural identity in Sumberdanti Village.

Abstract

This study discusses the relevance of using ultrasound technology (USG) to the concept of iddah in Islamic family law, employing a maqasid al-syariah approach. The background of this study stems from a social phenomenon where some women consider ultrasound results showing an empty womb to be grounds for waiving the obligation of iddah, sparking debate between medical authorities and Sharia norms. The objective of this study is to analyze classical fiqh perspectives on iddah, examine medical findings on the function of ultrasound, and evaluate both within the framework of maqasid al-syariah. The method employed is qualitative research using a literature review approach, drawing on the works of classical scholars, contemporary fiqh literature, and medical references related to ultrasound. Data were analyzed comparatively and normatively, taking into account the principles of maqasid al-syariah, particularly the aspects of hifz al-din (preserving religion) and hifz al-nasab (preserving lineage). The results of the study indicate that although ultrasound has accurate diagnostic functions in confirming the condition of the uterus, this technology cannot replace the sharia obligation to undergo the iddah period. This is because iddah is not merely intended to confirm the emptiness of the uterus, but also has dimensions of worship, social, and moral aspects, such as preserving lineage, providing space for mourning, and opening the possibility of reconciliation. Thus, the contribution of this research lies in emphasizing that the use of modern medical technology should be positioned as a supportive tool, not as a replacement for the normative provisions of Islamic law

The main problems faced are low motivation, self-confidence, and students' independent learning abilities. The activity was implemented using a technical assistance approach through training and workshops that emphasize participatory and reflective learning. The activity participants numbered 24 students who were selected purposively based on their level of motivation and learning participation. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in aspects of learning motivation, critical thinking skills, and skills in planning learning strategies. Students began to demonstrate independence and creativity in the learning process, as well as the courage to express opinions in class. This activity also had a positive impact on teachers and the school environment through increased interaction and collaboration in learning. The technical assistance approach has proven effective in developing self-actualization and building competitive student character. This program is expected to become a model of sustainable mentoring for madrasas in creating a creative, religious, and high-achieving learning environment.

Abstract

This article discusses how the growing awareness of global sustainability has encouraged the integration of religious values and environmental principles into modern investment practices. This study aims to empirically examine the influence of ESG awareness and Maqashid Syariah orientation on green investment intention and green investment behavior, as well as the moderating role of green attitude between the two, in order to establish a scientific basis for the development of ethical, sustainable, and spiritually valuable green investment. This study uses an explanatory quantitative approach that aims to empirically test the influence of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) awareness and Maqāṣid Syariah orientation on green investment intention and green investment behavior, with green attitude as a moderating variable and green investment intention as a mediating variable. The results show that ESG Awareness has a positive and significant effect on Investment Behavior, while Green Attitude has a negative effect on Green Investment. Meanwhile, Maqashid Syariah orientation does not show a significant effect on either of the two dependent variables. These findings indicate that rational understanding and awareness of sustainability values have a stronger impact on investment behavior than affective dimensions such as green attitude. In addition, these results show an attitude–behavior gap, where positive attitudes toward the environment are not fully realized in concrete actions.

Abstract

Education is an important indicator that determines the direction of a good nation so that the nation's goals are achieved as stated in the Constitution, namely to educate the nation's life can be implemented properly. This study aims to describe the role of the Intra-School Student Organization (OSIS) in shaping the character of students at MA Darul Hikmah Mojokerto in the 2025–2026 academic year. The background of this service departs from the phenomenon of declining student character marked by violations of school rules, religious norms, and social norms. This service uses the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method. This method is a method that involves certain parties in reviewing actions that are in order to make better changes and improvements showing that OSIS has an important role in character formation through four main programs, namely the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS), Classmeeting, Basic Student Leadership Training (LDKS), and Deliberation/Evaluation. These four activities have been proven to be able to instill the values of discipline, responsibility, care, cooperation, tolerance, leadership, and courage in expressing opinions. The Student Council (OSIS) also serves as a preventative measure to prevent deviant student behavior by providing space for the development of creativity, democratic attitudes, and solidarity. Thus, the OSIS at MA Darul Hikmah Mojokerto serves not only as a student organization but also as a strategic instrument for positive character formation, personality strengthening, and the comprehensive development of the potential of the younger generation.
