Abstract

This study aimed to describe the implementation of Interactive Flat Panel media in introducing English to children aged 5–6 years and to identify the challenges encountered during its implementation. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The participants consisted of one principal, two classroom teachers, and eight children aged 5–6 years. English learning activities were conducted in three classroom sessions using the Interactive Flat Panel to introduce fruit-related vocabulary through videos, songs, picture-matching, and interactive games. The findings indicate that the use of the Interactive Flat Panel created a more interactive, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment. Children became more attentive, actively participated in classroom activities, and demonstrated greater confidence in pronouncing simple English vocabulary. Observation data also showed improvements across all six indicators of English-speaking ability, with the average achievement increasing from 37% during the initial observation to 78% after the implementation, representing an overall improvement of 41%. The greatest improvements were observed in children's confidence to speak in front of their peers and their ability to associate vocabulary with corresponding pictures or objects. Several challenges were identified, including teachers' limited familiarity with some IFP features, unstable internet connectivity, and the limited confidence of some children when speaking English independently. Within the context of this study, which involved a single kindergarten, eight participants, and three instructional sessions, the findings suggest that the Interactive Flat Panel has the potential to support English language introduction by increasing children's engagement, participation, and opportunities for verbal interaction in early childhood classrooms.

Abstract

This investigation was initiated in response to students' insufficient capacity to interpret written materials comprehensively and evaluate the information they encounter critically. Accordingly, the primary objective was to determine the extent to which learners' reading comprehension and critical-thinking competencies could be enhanced. A qualitative methodology employing Classroom Action Research (CAR) was implemented across four instructional sessions. Information was obtained through interview activities, documentary evidence, and assessment instruments before being processed using both qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures. The results demonstrated considerable progress in learners' achievement, with reading comprehension attaining the category of “all students are highly proficient,” while critical-thinking performance reached the level of “almost all students are highly proficient,” in accordance with the predetermined success criteria. Consequently, the POTENSI framework has been empirically shown to strengthen students' reading comprehension and critical-thinking abilities within Indonesian language instruction.

Abstract

One of the problems with teaching science in the modern era is that primary school pupils often lack the ability to think critically and work together effectively. Only 39% of fourth graders at SDN Sungai Miai 8 Banjarmasin exhibited strong critical thinking abilities, while 44% demonstrated strong collaborative skills, according to observational data. With the use of Pause Think Discuss media, this research aims to explain and analyse how the BAGAS model might be used to social studies education with the goal of boosting students' critical thinking and collaborative abilities. This study employs a qualitative methodology known as Class Action Research (PTK). The research included eighteen fourth graders from SDN Sungai Miai 8 Banjarmasin. We used descriptive analysis to go through data collected from students' collaborative and critical thinking abilities. Students' critical thinking abilities improved significantly over the course of the four meetings, rising from 44% in the first to 94% in the last. Collaborative abilities also rose, going from 44% in the first gathering to 100% in the subsequent meeting. This study found that elementary school students' critical thinking and collaboration skills were significantly improved when the BAGAS model which combines problem-based learning, group investigation, and gamification with the help of Pause Think Discuss media was used. The model achieved its goals by creating learning experiences that were active, interactive, and meaningful.

Abstract

International students frequently encounter significant academic and linguistic barriers when adapting to a host country's highly localized national curriculum, leading to cognitive overload and a reliance on short-term surface learning strategies. This study aimed to evaluate how a comparative pedagogical negotiation strategy could mitigate these learning bottlenecks and enhance the academic achievement of foreign learners. Utilizing a classroom action research (CAR) design, this study investigated 10 Malaysian students at SMA Al-Irsyad Kota Tegal during their Pancasila Education lessons across a pre-cycle phase, Cycle I, and Cycle II. Data were collected through diagnostic interviews, field observations, and communicative adaptive assessments, which were then analyzed using descriptive qualitative mapping and classical mastery trends. The findings revealed that transitioning from basic textual adjustments in Cycle I to structured visual institutional charts and multicultural peer forums in Cycle II successfully resolved constitutional conceptual distortions. This pedagogical intervention led to steady cognitive improvement, as evidenced by a substantial leap in the classical learning outcome average from an incomplete baseline of 65% in the pre-cycle phase, rising to 72% in Cycle II, and reaching 85% in Cycle II. It is concluded that incorporating students' native background knowledge as a comparative asset rather than forcing rigid cultural assimilation effectively reduces mental overload, offering a replicable framework for inclusive international classrooms.

Abstract

Receptive language skills are fundamental for early childhood communication development; however, observations at RA Darul Hikam indicated that many children aged 5–6 years experienced difficulties in listening to and understanding stories. In addition, the available learning media were insufficiently engaging and lacked integration of local cultural values. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of a local wisdom-based storybook entitled The Story of KH. Nur Muhammad Ikhsan Iskandar to improve children's receptive language skills. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. Participants included 20 children aged 5–6 years at RA Darul Hikam. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and expert validation questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The developed product was an illustrated storybook integrating local wisdom and age-appropriate language. Expert validation results indicated that the storybook was feasible for classroom use, while implementation results demonstrated positive teacher and child responses. Furthermore, children showed improvements in listening comprehension, story understanding, vocabulary recognition, answering comprehension questions, and retelling story content after using the storybook. These findings suggest that the local wisdom-based storybook is a valid, practical, and effective learning medium for improving receptive language skills while simultaneously introducing cultural values and character education in early childhood learning.

Abstract

Moral education plays a crucial role in shaping the religious behavior of students amidst rapid technological advancements and social changes. This study aims to analyze the actualization of moral values ??derived from the Ta’lim al-Muta’allim in shaping the religious behavior of ninth-grade students at MTs Islamiyah Attanwir Bojonegoro, as well as to identify supporting factors, inhibiting factors, and the resulting implications. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which encompasses data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the actualization of moral values ??is manifested through the cultivation of habits regarding conduct toward Allah SWT (performing acts of worship and religious activities), conduct toward teachers (demonstrating respect, politeness, and diligence in learning), and conduct toward others (showing mutual respect, helpfulness, and maintaining harmony). Supporting factors include student motivation, teachers serving as role models, family support, and a religious *madrasa* environment, whereas inhibiting factors include external environmental influences, social media, limited facilities, and a lack of student consistency. The actualization of these moral values ??has implications for both the outward conduct and inner character of the ninth-grade students at MTs Islamiyah Attanwir Bojonegoro.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a fundamental skill that should be developed in early childhood to support problem-solving and independent learning. Preliminary observations at TK Muslimat NU 64 showed that the critical thinking skills of children aged 5–6 years were still low. This study aimed to improve these skills through educational media based on the Solite Kids application. Using Classroom Action Research with the Kemmis and McTaggart model, the study was conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 15 children in Group B1. Data were collected through observation and documentation and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results showed a substantial improvement after the Solite Kids application was implemented. Learning achievement increased from 26.7% in Cycle I to 98.8% in Cycle II, exceeding the predetermined success criterion. Improvements were observed in children’s ability to answer questions, ask questions, express opinions, and provide simple explanations. Thus, Solite Kids application-based educational media effectively enhanced the critical thinking skills of children aged 5–6 years by creating a more interactive and engaging learning environment.

Abstract

Learning activities that mainly rely on lectures and textbooks tend to limit students' active participation, causing them to memorize concepts without fully understanding their meaning. This issue is particularly evident among children aged 6–7 years, who are still in the concrete operational stage of cognitive development and require direct learning experiences through tangible objects. Therefore, appropriate learning media are needed to bridge abstract mathematical concepts with students' concrete learning experiences. This study aims to develop an interactive flannel board learning medium that is suitable for improving first-grade elementary school students' understanding of number concepts. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg and Gall development model, which was simplified into seven stages: needs analysis, planning, initial product development, expert validation, revision, field testing, and final product revision. The research subjects were first-grade students of SDN Mrican 3 and SDN Mrican 4, Kediri City. The research instruments included material expert and media expert validation sheets, a practicality questionnaire, and a number concept understanding test. The findings revealed that the interactive flannel board learning medium achieved a very high level of validity based on evaluations from both material and media experts. In addition, the medium was found to be practical for classroom implementation and effective in improving students' understanding of number concepts. Therefore, the developed learning medium can serve as an alternative instructional tool that promotes a more active, concrete, and enjoyable mathematics learning experience for lower-grade elementary school students.
