Abstract

The low learning outcomes of fourth-grade science students at MI Al-Azhar Muara Pinang was the main driver of this research, which highlighted the need for more creative teaching methods. The goal of this project is to use the Problem Based Learning paradigm to improve student engagement and learning outcomes. Classroom Action Research, which is carried out in two cycles with the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases, is the type of research used. Fourteen fourth-grade students were made the subjects of the study. Multiple-choice learning outcome exams and observation of student activities were used as data collection methods, and qualitative and quantitative descriptive data analysis was carried out. Through problem-solving-based exercises that actively engage students in group projects, presentations, and conversations, the Problem-Based Learning approach is implemented. With a completion rate of 92.8%, the research findings show an increase in student learning outcomes. This shows that problem-based learning approaches are successful in improving student engagement and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Teaching ablution and prayer to students with multiple disabilities, particularly those with hearing, speech, and intellectual impairments, requires learning strategies that are adjusted to the characteristics and needs of the learners. Limitations in communication and cognitive abilities become significant challenges in understanding and practicing religious activities properly. This study aims to describe the learning strategies implemented by teachers and their role in supporting students’ understanding of ablution and prayer materials. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving junior secondary students in a special school. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that learning becomes more effective through direct practice conducted gradually and repeatedly, supported by visual media in the form of instructional videos. These strategies assist students in understanding and practicing the sequence of ablution and prayer movements according to their individual abilities. In addition, communication barriers were identified due to differences in the use of sign language between the home and school environments. Social interaction and students’ level of independence were also found to influence the learning process. Therefore, adaptive, visual, and practice-based learning strategies play an important role in supporting Islamic Religious Education for students with multiple disabilities.

Abstract

The low level of students’ collaboration skills in science learning remains a common issue in schools, particularly during group discussions that do not actively engage all students. This condition highlights the need for a learning model capable of creating an active, interactive, and collaborative learning environment in line with the demands of 21st-century  skills. This study aimed to improve students’ collaboration skills through the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model in the topic of Earth and the Solar System. The study employed a Classroom Action Research method based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 32 students of class VII C at SMP Negeri 11 Jember. Data were collected through observation, peer assessment, and field notes. The data were analyzed using descriptive comparative analysis by comparing the results of each cycle. The findings showed that the implementation of the TGT model improved students’ collaboration skills across all indicators, namely active participation, responsibility, flexibility and compromise, and mutual respect among group members. The average percentage of collaboration skills increased from 66.7% in Cycle I to 87.7% in Cycle II. Learning activities involving group discussions, academic games, and tournaments encouraged students to interact more actively, collaborate effectively, and contribute within their groups. Therefore, the TGT learning model is effective in improving students’ collaboration skills in science learning and supports the development of 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the integrated learning model in integrating Civics, Social Studies, and Mathematics for second-grade elementary school students. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in three meetings involving 18 students of grade II SD VITA in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observation, students’ worksheets, reflective activities, pre-test and post-test scores, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out descriptively qualitative and quantitative by comparing students’ learning outcomes and participation during the learning process. The results showed that the implementation of integrated learning successfully improved students’ cognitive achievement and social character. The average pre-test score increased from 72.2 to 90.8 in the post-test. In addition, students demonstrated better collaboration, empathy, and appreciation for differences through group discussions and contextual data visualization activities. The integration of local wisdom and concrete learning media also enhanced students’ engagement and understanding. Therefore, the integrated learning model proved to be effective in creating meaningful, contextual, and holistic learning experiences for elementary school students.

Abstract

The digital transformation of financial governance in higher education institutions has encouraged universities to improve accountability, transparency, and efficiency in payroll administration systems. However, payroll management for non-civil servant employees at Universitas Negeri Surabaya is still highly dependent on manual administration and spreadsheet-based processing, resulting in administrative inefficiencies, delays in payroll processing, fragmented data management, and a high risk of human error. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the requirements for developing an Electronic Payroll Information System (SIGAJI) for non-civil servant employees at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach focusing on system requirements analysis. The research was conducted at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, particularly within units related to payroll administration and financial management for non-civil servant employees. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and literature review. The data sources included payroll administration documents, payroll recapitulation reports, salary slips, personnel data records, payroll workflow documents, institutional regulations, and related literature concerning payroll information systems and digital financial governance. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques through data reduction, data organization, requirement identification, and classification of functional and non-functional system requirements. The findings indicated that the existing payroll management system had not yet supported integrated and electronic-based payroll administration. Payroll activities were still conducted separately and manually, causing repetitive data entry, payroll processing delays, data inconsistencies, and difficulties in payroll monitoring and reporting. The study also identified organizational and regulatory requirements emphasizing the need for an integrated payroll information system aligned with institutional policies and digital governance principles. Functional requirements identified in this study included employee data management, payroll calculation, payroll reporting, payroll history management, and digital payslip services. Meanwhile, non-functional requirements included system security, accessibility, usability, operational efficiency, integration capability, and role-based access control. The study concluded that the development of an integrated electronic payroll information system is necessary to improve payroll administration efficiency, reduce administrative errors, strengthen transparency, and support accountable financial governance at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. The findings of this study may serve as the basis for further system design and prototype development of SIGAJI.

Abstract

Academic libraries are evolving from traditional repositories into dynamic learning hubs that require continuous evaluation of service quality to ensure excellent service delivery. However, existing measurement instruments such as SERVQUAL and LibQUAL(+) often require contextual adaptation to fully capture user-centered experiences in modern academic libraries. This study aims to develop an instrument for assessing library service quality based on excellent service principles. The study employed a literature-based instrument development approach by reviewing established service quality models and their adaptations in library contexts. The process included identifying key dimensions, constructing indicators, and synthesizing item formulations derived from prior validated frameworks. Emphasis was placed on integrating SERVQUAL dimensions with excellent service indicators relevant to academic library environments. The results indicate that library service quality can be systematically operationalized into several core dimensions, including friendliness, responsiveness, service speed, communication ability, and professionalism. These dimensions are consistently supported by previous empirical studies and can be translated into measurable indicators suitable for Likert-scale assessment. In conclusion, the developed instrument provides a theoretically grounded and contextually relevant framework for evaluating excellent service in academic libraries. It offers a practical basis for future empirical testing and can support library managers in improving service quality based on structured user feedback.
