Abstract

This article discusses the concept of halalan thoyyiba food in the Qur'an and its relevance to mental health. The concept includes an understanding of the types of foods that are halal and their quality and effects on an individual's mental and emotional health. This study aims to investigate the Qur'an's view of halal and good food, as well as how this understanding can affect a person's mental health in a modern context. The method used is an exploratory analysis of the Qur'anic text, with a comparative approach to contemporary scientific discoveries in psychology and mental health. The data taken came from verses of the Qur'an that explain halal food and thoyyib, as well as empirical research that links diet with mental health. The results of the study show that the Qur'an provides clear guidelines about the importance of halal and good food for the well-being of a person's soul. Consumption of foods that conform to these principles can contribute significantly to mental and emotional health, such as improving a positive psychological state and reducing the risk of mental health disorders. The conclusion of this article emphasizes the importance of considering the spiritual aspect in daily food choices to support optimal mental health. The practical implications of this study are the need for a holistic approach to mental health care, which includes understanding and practicing halal and thoyyib foods as an integral part of a spiritually and physically balanced lifestyle.

Abstract

Jami 'al-Bayan is a fanciful commentary among the scholars of the Qur'an. This commentary was composed by early-century commentators on the map of Qur'anic interpretation. Although this commentary has been widely studied, there are still many unknowns in it, especially with regard to this type of interpretation and the method used in its writing. This paper will explore the discussion of Jami 'al-Bayan's commentary, especially highlighting what exactly is the pattern and method. In this paper it is found that the style used in the Tabari is riwa'i, this can be proven when he interprets every verse never separated from the history of the prophet, even with its diversity. The method used in the commentary is al-Quran bi al-Quran and bi ar-riwayah.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the role of the Koran in shaping mining environmental ethics, especially in the context of a vision of religious moderation. This research uses a qualitative approach, in the form of a literature study and with an exploratory and analytical nature. The method used is a text analysis method (co-wrods analysis) which focuses on understanding key concepts such as khalifah (earth manager), mizan (balance), and amanah (damage). The results of this research show that the values of the Qur'an require humans to protect the earth from damage that can be caused by irresponsible human activities, and implement responsible mining practices, which pay attention to long-term impacts on the environment (Al-'Araf : 56), humans are also given the mandate to protect the earth and everything in it, including carrying out the environmental rehabilitation process after mining management (Al-Ahzab: 72), and considering the ecological, social and economic impacts of mining activities (Al-Baqarah: 269). These three principles are in line with the vision of religious moderation which teaches the principles of tawazun (balance), 'adl (justice), and amanah (wise). In this way mining can be carried out responsibly and sustainably, without sacrificing environmental sustainability and community welfare.

Abstract

This study explores the business development contained in Surat Quraisy. Using the tafsir bi ar-ra’yi method, this study investigates the verses of the Qur'an with sexual and contextual analysis and logic. It was found that Surat Quraisy provides lessons on perseverance, market segmentation, and balance between business and worship. Through a literature study, this study compares its results with previous studies that also examined this, identifying several implied business strategies, such as perseverance, market segmentation, and balance between business and worship. Previous studies highlight the values that can be taken from the letter, including planning, market understanding, and managerial. The results of the analysis show that Surat Quraisy teaches the importance of perseverance in business, a careful understanding of the market, and a balance between worldly and afterlife affairs. This study reveals the wisdom contained in religious texts and their relevance to contemporary business practices. Abstract

The scientific inimitability in the Quran is one of the most significant aspects of contemporary Quranic exegesis that researchers have studied and analyzed. These aspects have roots in traditional exegesis books. Al-Razi’s interpretation stands out as one of the most important commentaries addressing some scientific ideas prevalent in his era (544 AH - 606 AH). Researchers employed the analytical and historical methodologies to examine the scientific references in Al-Razi’s interpretation of the story of the Companions of the Cave. This story is considered one of the manifestations of inimitability in Quranic narratives, highlighting the importance of this interpretation, especially in the context of science and inimitability. Including God’s power in reviving the dead (resurrection), prolonged sleep and its influencing factors, and the concept of awakening from sleep and its connection to the resurrection of the dead. The researchers concluded that Al-Razi utilized the scientific perspectives of his time to serve Quranic interpretation while leaving room for other scientific views to adapt to changes in time and place.

Abstract

This research explores Fatima Mernissi's criticism of women's political roles in the Qur'an through a feminist approach. The focus of the research lies on analyzing the discourse of Qur'anic interpretation which, according to Mernissi, often reproduces patriarchal narratives that limit women's participation in the political sphere. The purpose of the study is to evaluate how the Muslim feminist perspective, Mernissi reveals the bias of traditional interpretations and offers a more egalitarian reinterpretation of the Qur'anic text. This research uses a library research method with a critical text analysis approach to Mernissi's works and classical and contemporary Qur'anic interpretations. The data is analyzed with a feminist approach to identify patterns of gender bias in the interpretation of certain verses related to politics and women's leadership. The results showed that Mernissi's criticism succeeded in deconstructing traditional interpretations that tend to rule out the potential of women in politics, while emphasizing that the Qur'an actually opens space for equal gender roles. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of a feminist approach to reconstructing the understanding of sacred texts, so that they are more relevant in supporting gender inclusivity and justice in the modern political context.

Abstract

The development of the theory of Qur'anic interpretation in the realm of contemporary Islamic thought shows an increasingly urgent methodological need to bridge the gap between the sacred text and the ever-changing social reality. In the midst of this dynamic, the hermeneutical approach offered by Fazlur Rahman, especially the double movement theory, is present as a methodological offering that attempts to reconstruct the way of viewing the text of the Qur'an ethically and historically. This study aims to trace the intellectual trail of Fazlur Rahman's hermeneutics in the development of contemporary interpretation theory by highlighting the historical and epistemological dimensions of his thinking. The method used in this study is a qualitative study based on literature study, with a historical-critical approach and discourse analysis. Primary and secondary sources related to Fazlur Rahman's works and the responses of contemporary Muslim intellectuals are the focus of the analysis. The results of the study show that Fazlur Rahman's double movement theory not only represents a synthesis between textual and contextual understanding, but also provides an epistemological foundation for the development of a more dialogical, transformative, and contextual interpretation theory. The implications of these findings indicate the need for revitalization of the tafsir approach that is not only rooted in the classical heritage, but also open to social dynamics and universal ethical values. This research also opens up space for the development of maqāṣid-based tafsir theory that can respond to the needs of contemporary Muslim society more inclusively.

Abstract

The number of people in the world is counted in billions. When looked back upon, it surely goes back to Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) and Mother Eve. When they both met, their descendants emerged. The children of Adam originated from their father, Adam (peace be upon him), who was created from microbes. Each of them spread, carrying atoms, and to this day they have not disappeared. From this, the question arises: what is Thanthawi Jauhari's thinking about the genetics of the descendants of Adam (peace be upon him)? This research will be qualitatively analyzed using a scientific approach. The primary data source used in this research is the book al-Jawahir fi Tafsir al-Qur’an al-Karim by Thanthawi Jauhari, which will be analyzed descriptively and analytically. This research concludes that human beings on Earth, from the past to the present, have one common point, which is the unity in creation and similarity in characteristics, conditions, and behavior. This unity and similarity are caused by each human passing down genes to the next generation, which will continue to process and intermix according to human reproduction and dissemination itself. This means every child carries genes from their parents all the way back to Prophet Adam (peace be upon him). The genetic processes known in Mendel's theory can harmonize with the clear signals from the Qur’an as articulated in Jauhari's interpretation.

Abstract

The issue of corruption prevalent in society today is considered a normal and common occurrence, institutionalized, and nearly pervasive in all aspects of community life. One of the anti-corruption eradication methods recommended in Indonesia is the discourse of anti-corruption in religious contexts, as the voice of religion is still quite audible and believed to be effective. The anti-corruption discourse for Muslims is certainly viewed through the lens of the Qur'an. Although the Qur'an does not explicitly mention verses about corruption, there are several verses that indicate issues related to it in addressing the problem of corruption. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach, based on literature research, the verses of the Qur'an, publications in the form of research results, journals, seminars, and articles. The method of interpreting the verses related to corruption employed is the interpretation method of Ibn ‘Asyur. Based on this, in this article, the author attempts to elaborate on the concepts of the Qur'an pertaining to corruption through the commentary of Ibn ‘Asyur via thematic interpretation studies, finding that the terms of corruption explained by Ibn ‘Asyur are very detailed from the aspects of language, Qira’at, and the context of the verses' revelation. Thus, it is easily understood that corruption is prohibited in Islam, and the solution to prevent it lies in implementing religious norms in all aspects of communal life.

Abstract

In the modern era like today, there are still many cases of oppression, both verbally and physically, perpetrated by individuals or groups. This act is known as bullying. This writing analyzes the expressions of verses related to bullying, whether in the form of verbal, physical, or social bullying in the Qur'an. This article is examined qualitatively using a thematic approach. The primary data sources used in this research are contemporary interpretation books with a sociocultural emphasis, namely the Tafsir al-Munîr by Wahbah az-Zuhaylî, Tafsir Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka, and Tafsir Al-Mishbah by Quraish Shihab. The research results show that from 11 verses of the Qur'an related to bullying, there are at least three (3) types of bullying, namely verbal, physical, and social. The commentators explain that bullying includes mocking, spreading false news, giving bad nicknames, and exposing someone's shame or secrets. Although the model of bullying in this era has evolved into cyberbullying, these actions remain a form of criminal behavior as harmful as traditional bullying in the real world.
