Abstract

This study aims to develop children’s language skills through the implementation of the Picture and Picture method using serial picture story media. This research is a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) employing the Asrori M. model. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 13 children from Group B of TK Beringin Jaya, while the object of the study was the development of children’s language skills through the Picture and Picture method using serial picture stories. Data collection techniques included observation and performance tests. The observation instrument consisted of an observation sheet containing 10 aspects, while performance tests were conducted at the end of each cycle to measure learning outcomes according to the targeted indicators. The results showed that children’s language ability improved significantly through the implementation of the Picture and Picture method with serial picture story media. In Cycle I, out of 13 children, 1 child (7.69%) was in the Not Yet Developed (NYD) category, 3 children (15.38%) in the Beginning to Develop (BD) category, 5 children (38.46%) in the Developing as Expected (DAE) category, and 4 children (30.76%) in the Very Well Developed (VWD) category. In Cycle II, 1 child (7.69%) remained in the NYD category, 1 child (7.69%) in BD, 6 children (46.15%) in DAE, and 5 children (38.46%) in VWD. The average score of children’s language ability reached 84.61%, exceeding the mastery standard set by TK Beringin Jaya.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' abilities in operationalizing addition and subtraction with the help of concrete objects. To achieve this goal, a classroom action research was conducted on 20 first-grade students of SD Inpres 28 Sorong Regency. The data obtained in this study were through observation, discussion, and evaluation. The results of this study showed an increase in pre-action activities, cycle I, and cycle II. In the pre-action research, 33.3% of students experienced learning completion after the action was carried out with concrete objects as aids. Student learning completion in cycle I increased to 66.6%, followed by the next cycle where all students experienced learning completion. Based on the results of the learning evaluation in cycle I with the lowest standard score of 75, students who obtained a score of 75 were 33.3% of students or approximately 97% while the results of the evaluation in cycle II with the same standard score, all students obtained a score of 75 or 100. The conclusion that can be drawn is that concrete objects can help students in operationalizing addition and subtraction of numbers in Class I Mathematics learning, so that learning achievement has progressed. Other findings are that students become happy, confident in carrying out the learning process that uses concrete objects. By using concrete objects, it can improve students' abilities in operating addition and subtraction.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of teachers in developing descriptive writing skills in elementary school students. Descriptive writing skills are important skills that need to be developed early on, because these skills are the foundation for more complex language and critical thinking skills. The role of teachers is very important in guiding students to be able to observe, understand, and express ideas descriptively through words. Through targeted learning strategies, such as the use of visual media, observation exercises, writing examples, the five-sensory approach, and constructive feedback, teachers can help students understand and apply descriptive writing techniques well. In addition, collaboration between students and the provision of a variety of descriptive vocabulary also enrich students' writing skills. The results of the study show that the active role of teachers and the right strategies can improve elementary school students' descriptive writing skills, so that they are more skilled in observing, thinking critically, and expressing themselves.

Abstract

Children's reading interest at the Elementary School (SD) level is one of the important indicators in their academic and social development. This study aims to explore the role of parents and teachers in increasing students' reading interest. The method used is a literature study by collecting data from various relevant sources. The results of the study show that parents act as role models, providers of reading facilities, and controllers of learning time, while teachers function as facilitators, motivators, and creative teachers. In addition, supporting factors such as the availability of books and good communication between parents and teachers greatly influence children's reading interest. Conversely, low parental awareness and an unsupportive environment are obstacles. This study concludes that collaboration between parents and teachers is very important to increase children's reading interest in elementary school, which ultimately has a positive impact on their academic achievement.

Abstract

Character education has a strategic role in forming attitudes of tolerance and cooperation in elementary schools. This study aims to examine how education through the curriculum, the role of teachers, and the school environment can encourage the formation of values of tolerance and cooperation in students. The method used is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that students have a good level of tolerance and cooperation, supported by a curriculum that integrates the values of diversity and togetherness. Teachers play an important role as facilitators and role models, using collaborative learning strategies to develop students' social skills. The school environment also makes a positive contribution through character education programs that create a culture of tolerance and cooperation.
