FOKUS AND SCOPE Jurnal Sultra Elementary School focuses on publishing research findings, theoretical studies, and innovative developments in the field of Elementary Education through a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach. The journal aims to broaden academic perspectives and enhance educational practices by integrating various disciplines relevant to the challenges of 21st-century learning. Abstract

The results of this study showed that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model could improve students’ learning outcomes. In the first cycle, the average score obtained by students was 69.44, which increased in the second cycle to 74.44. The percentage of student mastery in the first cycle was only 73.33%, with 11 out of 15 students achieving mastery, and it increased to 86.67% in the second cycle, with 13 out of 15 students meeting the mastery criteria. These findings indicate that the use of the Problem-Based Learning model is effective in enhancing students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to improve science learning outcomes on the topic of force and motion through a scientific approach using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. The study was carried out in April 2021 with 13 fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 7 Pasir Putih as the research subjects. The learning outcomes were obtained using multiple-choice tests. The results showed that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model could improve students’ learning outcomes. In the first cycle, 61.54% of students achieved a high category, while 38.46% were in the low category. In the second cycle, students’ performance improved, with 76.92% in the high category and only 23.07% in the low category. Thus, the application of the scientific approach through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model proved effective in improving students’ learning outcomes in the topic of force and motion.

Abstract

The research problem in this study is: How can science learning outcomes be improved by applying the Quantum Teaching learning method in fifth-grade students of SD Negeri Watu-Watu, Bombana Regency? The purpose of this research is to determine how to improve science learning outcomes by applying the Quantum Teaching method in fifth-grade students of SD Negeri Watu-Watu, Bombana Regency. The background of this study includes: (1) students tend to play during the learning process, (2) low interest and learning outcomes, (3) teachers have not applied learning models that can foster students’ interest in learning, (4) lack of teacher creativity in teaching, and (5) limited student involvement during lessons.This research is a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, consisting of planning, implementation, observation, evaluation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 23 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri Watu-Watu, consisting of 12 female and 11 male students. The results showed that: (1) the average student learning outcome in the first cycle was 76.40, increasing to 82.61 in the second cycle. The percentage of students achieving mastery learning increased from 60.87% (14 students) in the first cycle to 86.96% (20 students) in the second cycle. (2) Teacher activity improved from 81.58% in the first meeting of cycle I to 88.16% in the second meeting, and from 90.79% to 97.37% in cycle II. (3) Student learning activity improved from 76.32% in the first meeting of cycle I to 85.53% in the second meeting, and from 92.11% to 96.05% in cycle II. These findings indicate that the application of the Quantum Teaching method effectively improves science learning outcomes among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Watu-Watu, Bombana Regency.

Abstract

The application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model aims to improve students’ conceptual understanding in science subjects for fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 143 Tetehaka. This research was supervised by Arna Juwairiyah, S.Pd., M.Pd. as the first supervisor and Ahmad, S.Pd., M.Pd. as the second supervisor. The study was conducted due to the following issues: (1) students’ learning outcomes were still low—many students had difficulty understanding science concepts, as shown by their average daily test scores of 50 (on a scale of 0–100), which were far below the mastery threshold of 65; and (2) the learning process was dominated by lecture-based methods, making students less interested and less involved in learning activities, which resulted in weak conceptual understanding.The purpose of this research was to determine how the implementation of the contextual learning model could enhance students’ conceptual understanding in science. This study employed a quantitative approach with the type of Classroom Action Research (CAR). The data collection techniques used were observation and tests. The results showed that in the first cycle, the percentage of students achieving mastery was 46.66% in the first meeting and 53.33% in the second meeting, with an average class score of 62.29. In the second cycle, the percentage of students achieving mastery increased to 73.33% in the first meeting and 80% in the second meeting, with an average class score of 73.43.These findings indicate that the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model can effectively improve students’ conceptual understanding in science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the validity and reliability of test items using the Rasch model on teacher-made test questions in elementary schools. The use of the Rasch model for validity and reliability testing helps teachers to evaluate and improve the quality of their tests so that they can more accurately measure students’ abilities and better understand their learning progress. This research combines quantitative and development approaches, focusing on analyzing a teacher-developed multiple-choice test in the subject of mathematics. The test subjects in this study were the teacher-made test items and students from grades IV, V, and VI at SD Negeri 5 Wiwirano and SD Negeri 6 Wiwirano, with a total of 100 students (50 students from each school). Data collection was conducted through a test trial, which provided scores used to determine the quality of the test items. The data were analyzed through assumption testing, item analysis, reliability analysis, and bias detection using the Rasch model. The results of the study showed that all 20 test items were categorized as valid, and there were no biased items detected. This indicates that the Rasch model is effective for assessing the quality of test items. Therefore, validity and reliability testing are essential components of the evaluation process, and the Rasch model with the Winstep application can serve as a reliable tool for item analysis and improving test quality.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model using poster media on students’ science learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The findings revealed that the students’ average pretest score was 36.75, with a minimum score of 25 and a maximum of 50. Meanwhile, the posttest average score increased to 77.00, with a minimum of 70 and a maximum of 95. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the t-count (23.406) was greater than the t-table (1.6759), indicating a significant difference between the students’ learning outcomes before and after applying the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model with poster media. The mean difference of 40.25 demonstrates a substantial improvement in learning outcomes. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by poster media has a significant positive effect on improving science learning achievement among fifth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Islamic education values through the habituation method among students in a public elementary school located in South Konawe Regency. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. The research informants consisted of the school principal, three teachers, and six students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the application of the habituation method in instilling Islamic education values among students is quite effective. This method helps foster students’ character in practicing queue discipline, disposing of waste properly, greeting and being polite, praying before doing activities, demonstrating good behavior and morals, memorizing short surahs, and maintaining discipline in performing worship.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has transformed the learning process at SD Negeri 1 Duren, which traditionally relied on face-to-face instruction, into a blended learning system that combines offline (luring) and online (daring) learning. The purpose of this study is to examine the implementation process of blended learning in Grade IV of SD Negeri 1 Duren and to identify its strengths and weaknesses. This research uses a qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects include fourth-grade students and their teacher. The findings indicate that online and offline learning were conducted simultaneously. The WhatsApp application was used as the main online learning platform, while offline learning took place at school based on the materials shared through the WhatsApp group. The implementation of blended learning presents several challenges, such as students’ limited understanding of the material and poor time management. However, it also offers advantages, including the ease for teachers to distribute learning materials to all students.

Abstract

Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that parents’ perceptions of education in the coastal area of the Bajo tribe in Sama Bahari Village have changed compared to previous years. Over time, there has been a growing awareness regarding the meaning, importance, function, and goals of early childhood education, as well as parents’ expectations for their children’s education. Parents perceive early childhood education as a form of learning provided to children under the age of seven before entering elementary school, where they can learn various basic skills such as reading, counting, writing, and singing. Parents hope that through this education, their children will become intelligent, successful individuals who can make them proud. However, some parents still believe that education should begin only when the child reaches seven years old and is ready to enter elementary school, mainly due to financial constraints.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the improvement of mathematical communication skills through the contextual teaching model, (2) the improvement of mathematical communication skills through the conventional teaching model, and (3) the comparison between the two models to determine which is more effective. This research is a quasi-experimental study. The experimental class used a contextual teaching model, while the control class used a conventional teaching model. The research sample consisted of sixth-grade students from two schools: 15 students from SDN 1 Moramo and 17 students from SDN 11 Moramo. The results showed that: (1) based on the average pretest and posttest scores of the experimental class, the contextual teaching model led to an improvement in students’ mathematical communication skills; (2) based on the average pretest and posttest scores of the control class, there was also a significant improvement in students’ mathematical communication skills through the conventional model; and (3) the average N-Gain score for the experimental class was 0.6364, categorized as moderate, while the average N-Gain score for the control class was 0.2229, categorized as low. Therefore, the improvement in mathematical communication skills in the experimental class was better than that of the control class.
