Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character Building (Budi Pekerti) subjects in addressing juvenile delinquency in the digital era among eleventh-grade students of SMK Canda Bhirawa Pare. The development of digital technology has had a significant impact on adolescent behavior, particularly in the form of delinquency such as social media abuse, cyberbullying, gadget addiction, and declining ethics in online communication. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of PAI and Character Building was carried out contextually and relevant to the current conditions of students. PAI teachers not only convey religious material but also act as role models in fostering students' character through values such as honesty, responsibility, and courtesy. The implementation of active learning that touches on the reality of adolescents has been proven to be able to suppress various forms of delinquency. In addition, the habituation of religious activities such as the Dhuha prayer and reading the Qur'an also supports character building. This study concludes that synergy between teachers, schools, and parents is crucial to optimize the role of PAI and Character Building as a moral bulwark for students in the digital era.

Abstract

Being a teacher is not easy. To ensure that learning objectives are achieved, we must employ a variety of strategies. This study aims to examine various effective learning strategies for improving students' thinking skills, including critical, analytical, and creative thinking. The method used was library research, where various academic literature and empirical studies related to learning strategies were analyzed to gain insight into the most relevant approaches. The results showed that student-centered learning strategies, such as project-based learning, group discussions, and collaborative problem-solving, can significantly improve students' thinking skills. This occurs because these methods encourage students to think more deeply, solve problems independently, and collaborate in understanding complex concepts. The implications of these findings suggest that educational institutions that implement these strategies can develop students' thinking skills more effectively, which in turn will improve their academic performance and readiness to face real-world challenges.

Abstract

In the classical Islamic inheritance law system, the distribution of inheritance is based on the principle of faraidh, which only recognizes heirs through legal blood relations or marriage. As a result, adopted children do not receive inheritance rights from their adoptive parents, even though they have a very close social and emotional relationship. To address this imbalance, the concept of wajibah will emerged as a legal alternative, namely the granting of a portion of the obligatory inheritance to parties who are not entitled to inherit according to faraidh, including adopted children. This study aims to analyze the concept and legal basis of wajibah will from an Islamic legal perspective, examine its implementation in the Indonesian legal context, and assess the extent to which this concept can be a fair and effective solution in the distribution of inheritance for adopted children. This study uses a normative juridical method with a qualitative approach based on literature study. Data were collected through analysis of primary and secondary sources of the Qur'an, hadith, fiqh books, and the compilation of Islamic law. The results of the study indicate that although not recognized in classical fiqh, the mandatory will has been developed through ijtihad and codified in the KHI Article 209, which grants adopted children the maximum rights from the inheritance of their adoptive parents. However, its implementation still causes polemics, especially regarding the limitations of adopted children's rights, clarity of the legal basis, and considerations of justice for other legal heirs. This study concludes that the mandatory will is a compromise solution between the values of social justice and sharia provisions, but its implementation requires legal clarity, proper socialization, and wise jurisprudential considerations to avoid new debates within the family. With the right approach, the mandatory will can be a legal instrument that bridges social needs with the principles of Islamic law.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the interpretation of educational verses in the thought of Muhammad Abduh and its relevance to the development of contemporary Islamic curriculum. Using a qualitative approach and library research method, the study analyzes Abduh’s interpretation of several key educational verses such as Surah Al-‘Alaq: 1–5 and At-Tawbah: 122. The findings indicate that Abduh emphasized the importance of reason, intellectual freedom, and the reform of Islamic education based on rationality and morality. His exegesis is not merely textual but also contextual, responding to the challenges of his time. The relevance of Abduh’s ideas is evident in the conception of an integrative curriculum that harmonizes religious and modern sciences, aiming to produce rational, responsible, and productive individuals. This research recommends the integration of reformist tarbawi values into the design of Islamic curriculum to ensure greater adaptability in the face of global developments.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model in improving student learning outcomes in the History of Islamic Culture (SKI) subject for fifth graders at MIN 2 West Pasaman. The background of this study is the low student learning outcomes in SKI, caused by a lack of student participation, courage, and motivation in the learning process. The TPS model was chosen because it includes cooperative learning steps that emphasize individual thinking (think), pair discussions (pair), and large group sharing (share). This research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental approach (one group pretest-posttest design). The subjects were all 28 fifth grade students at MIN 2 West Pasaman. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, documentation, pretests, and posttests. Data were analyzed using the learning mastery formula (KB) and the percentage of teacher and student responses. The results indicate that the TPS model was implemented effectively. Based on the questionnaire, 62.5% of students stated that it was easier to understand the Social Sciences (SKI) lesson and 57.5% felt more confident expressing their opinions after participating in the TPS learning model. Teachers also assessed TPS as quite effective (70%) in improving student understanding, fostering courage, and creating a conducive learning environment. Based on the learning outcomes, before the TPS implementation (pretest), only 7 of 28 students (25%) achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM = 75). After the TPS implementation (posttest), all 28 students (100%) achieved the KKM, resulting in a 75% increase in completion.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the book review activity at the Subulus Salam Islamic Boarding School, which focuses on students at the Islamic Senior High School (Madrasah Aliyah) to improve their understanding of the yellow book through interactive discussions. Although beneficial, this activity still faces obstacles such as limited Arabic language skills, differences in student backgrounds, and low active participation, so a more in-depth study of the method's effectiveness is needed. This study aims to describe the role of the book review method in improving students' competence in reading, interpreting, and discussing books; analyze students' motivation in participating in the book review; and identify supporting and inhibiting factors for the activity. Using a descriptive qualitative method through a field research approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and direct interaction with informants to understand the phenomenon holistically. The results show that the book review method helps improve reading, interpreting, and discussing skills more confidently, despite the large number of participants and varying abilities. The level of student activity has been shown to have a significant impact on understanding; the more active they are in reading, asking questions, and discussing, the deeper their understanding. The success of muzakarah is supported by a passion for learning, a religious environment, a regular schedule, communicative facilitators, and adequate facilities. However, obstacles remain, such as fatigue, lack of preparation, differences in language skills, and technical factors. Suggested solutions include small group formation, additional mentoring, task rotation, motivation, and improved facilities and time management so that all students can optimally benefit from muzakarah activities.

Abstract

This research is entitled "Teachers' Efforts in Developing Students' Morals at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Subulussalam, West Pasaman Regency." The background of this study lies in the importance of teachers' roles in shaping students' morals amid the challenges of globalization, the influence of social media, and the decline of discipline and manners among adolescents. The purpose of this research is to identify the efforts made by teachers in fostering students' morals, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors they encounter. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers, the head of the madrasah, and students. The data were analyzed through reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal that teachers' efforts in fostering students' morals are carried out through role modeling (uswah hasanah), habituation of religious and disciplined behavior, the integration of religious values in learning, and providing regular advice. Supporting factors include the religious school environment, religious programs, and parental support. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors come from the negative influence of social media, peer environment, and the low motivation of some students. The study concludes that the success of moral development requires synergy among teachers, families, and the school environment. Teachers' efforts must be carried out consistently, sustainably, and integrated into all aspects of madrasa education.
